Accumulation measurements from stake farm Neumayer II, Ekström Ice Shelf, Antarctica, 2005

    No full text
This publication series contains the accumulation measurements from stake farm Neumayer II on the Ekström Ice Shelf, Antarctica. The stake farm (70°39'31''S, 8°15'9W), has been in operation since March 1992. It consists of 25 poles (balise), placed in a grid of 5 x 5 with 10 m spacing. Readings have been carried out in approx. weekly intervals by the overwintering staff. Each data set in the series contains all measurements of each stake from one calendar year in a tsv file, the average accumulation of the stake farm for each measurement and the standard deviation of the stake farm for each measurement. The data sets are accompanied by figures illustrating the development of the cumulative accumulation since the beginning of the measurements to date, a bar chart of the monthly accumulation for the year and a collection of panels (one panel per measurement) illustrating the variation of accumulation within the stake farm

This publication series contains the accumulation measurements from stake farm Pegelfeld Spuso on the Ekström Ice Shelf, Antarctica. The stake farm at the Air Chemistry Observatory (Spuso), located approximately 1.5 km to the south of the present Neumayer Station, has been in operation since September 2009. It consists of 16 aluminum poles (balise), placed in a grid of 4 x 4 with a spacing of 10 m. Readings have been carried out in approx. weekly intervals by the overwintering staff of the air chemistry observatory. Each data set in the series contains all measurements of each stake from one calendar year in a tsv file, the average accumulation of the stake farm for each measurement and the standard deviation of the stake farm for each measurement. During the PS111 research cruise with the German research vessel RV POLARSTERN (January 2018- March 2018), sediments were collected with a multicorer from 15 stations, i.e., four on the eastern Weddell Sea shelf at 387 to 663 m water depth, five in the Filchner Trough at 794 to 932 m water depth, and four along the western Weddell Sea shelf at 332 to 660 m water depth. Two deeper stations were located on the eastern Weddell Sea slope at 1405 and 1775 m water depth. A total of 28 high-resolution O2 profiles were measured in the upper sediment layer using optical microsensors (Optodes, Pyroscience) in order to determine diffusive oxygen uptake (DOU)

XRF analyses from Lake Fazilman, Uzbekistan

    No full text
This data table contains the X-Ray Fluorescence results for a 227 cm-long core core from Lake Fazilman (Fazilman kul, 40.550406 N, 66.589361 E; 1637 m a.s.l.), collected in July 2021 with a 50 cm Russian corer. The XRF are expressed in counts per second (cps) and were obtained with a XRF Core Scanner 3 in the EDYTEM laboratory, Chambéry, France. A Rhodium X-ray source and Ultralene film were used, with measurements at 10 kV (light elements) and 30 kV (heavy elements). The samples are retrieved from the Lake Fazilman composit sediment core. The results for the Br, Ca, Fe, K, Mn, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sr, Ti, Zr, Zn, as well as the Incoherent (Inc) and Coherent (Coh) scatter signals are provided. The first (PC1) and second (PC2) components of the Principal Component Analysis performed on the XRF data are also provided. The sample depth is given in centimeters and the age in year calibrated BP (age-depth model performed with BACON and the IntCal20 calibration curve based on 15 radiocarbon dating; Blaauw et al., 2011; Reimer et al., 2020)

Soil temperature, volumetric water content, and electrical conductivity measured every 10 minutes in a grass- and a herb-dominated area at a summer dike, Butjadingen, Germany (Nov 2022–Nov 2023)

To understand the role of plant species and functional diversity on the physical soil parameters of a sea dike, especially under prolonged drought conditions, continuous measurements of soil temperature, volumetric water content (soil moisture) and soil electrical conductivity (EC) were carried out from 22 November, 2022, to 22 November, 2023. The measurements were taken using six soil sensors from METER Group's TEROS 12 series, which were installed at three distinct soil depths (4 cm, 14 cm, 24 cm) and on two differently vegetated dike areas: one area with a grass-dominated plant community (referred to as 'Mix-Grass') and one area with a herb-dominated plant community (referred to as 'Mix-Herb'). The sensors were mounted on the southern (inland) side of a summer dike, which is located at the south-eastern North Sea coast of Germany (Butjadingen, Wesermarsch; 'Mix-Grass': 53.61211876 ° N, 8.330925695° E, 'Mix-Herb': 53. 61210826° N, 8.330989015° E), about 1 m below the dike crest. The dike height is approximately 3.6 m above mean high water (MHW). The measurement data was logged at 10-minute intervals using a ZL6 logger from the METER Group

The main task of the Neumayer Aerosol and Trace Gas (former Air Chemistry) Observatory at Neumayer III Station is to provide continuous, year-round as well as long-term data records for important gaseous and particulate trace components of the troposphere. The data set reports on long term atmospheric observations (aerosol scattering and back scattering coefficient, surface ozone, and aerosol particle number concentration) at the Air Chemistry Observatory (Neumayer III, Antarctica) between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024, measured about 5-7 m above ground with 60 sec resolution. For additional information about the observatory visit homepage: https://www.awi.de/en/science/long-term-observations/atmosphere/antarctic-neumayer/air-chemistry.htm
