Abundance of the life stages of two Calanus species during VALDIVIA cruise VAL136

    No full text
Abundances of the life stages of the Calanus species Calanus finmarchicus and Calanus hyperboreus were calculated in the Arctic Ocean during Valdivia cruise VAL136. Samples were taken with the Multinet midi (Hydrobios, Kiel), which is equipped with nine nets (mesh size: 150 µm), and Bongo nets (Mesh size 200/300 µm)

Age-deph model of sediment core PS69/899-2

    No full text
The age model for PS69/899-2 was developed using a combination of stratigraphic markers and Undatable age-depth modeling routine (Lougheed and Obrochta, 2019). Stratigraphic markers employed (doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.983940) include TEX86-based SST, RPI, radiocarbon ages on total sedimentary organic matter, and the last occurence datum of the diatom Rouxia leventerae

Diatom-based sea-surface temperatures over the last 40 kyrs in core MD12-3396CQ northeast of Kerguelen Island, Southern Ocean

    No full text
Diatom census counts were used to quantitatively estimate summer sea-surface temperatures (SST) over the last 40,000 years in core MD12-3396CQ, collected in 2012 on board the R.V. Marion Dusfresne northeast of Kerguelen Island, Southern Ocean. The transfer function used to reconstruct summer (Janunary to March) SST is the Modern Analog Technique that here uses 249 surface sediment samples (modern analogs), the relative abundances of 32 diatom species and the chord distance to select the five most similar modern analogs (Crosta et al., 2020). This method yields a root mean square error of prediction of ~1 °C. The core chronology is detailed in Gottschalk et al. (2020)

δ15N analyses of amino acids from co-occurring clams in the San Francisco Bay-Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta

    No full text
Nitrogen isotope values of individual amino acids were measured. Clam specimens were collected at USGS Sites 2.1 and processed following Stewart et al. (2013; doi:10.3354/meps10503). Amino acids were hydrolyzed from clam muscle tissue, derivatized, and isolated following Vokhshoori et al. (2013; doi:10.3354/meps10746). The measurement of the nitrogen isotope values of individual amino acids were conducted following Vokhshoori et al., 2013 and Vokhshoori and McCarthy, 2013 (doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0098087), respectively

Relative abundance of planktonic foraminiferal species in sediment core MedSeA-S7 retrieved from the Strait of Sicily during the MedSeA Cruise 2013

    No full text
Relative abundance of planktonic foraminiferal species in MedSeA-S7 sediment core, spanning from 1810 to 2010 years of the Common Era, examined under a stereo microscope (size fraction >125um) at least 300 speciments were counted and identified
