Video In Situ Snowfall Sensor (VISSS) data for Eriswil (2023-2024)
The open source Video In Situ Snowfall Sensor (VISSS) is a novel instrument for the characterization of particle shape and size in snowfall. The VISSS consists of two cameras with LED backlights and telecentric lenses that allow accurate sizing and combine a large observation volume with relatively high resolution and a design that limits wind disturbance. Here you can find films and images of falling precipitation particles for the CLOUDLAB (Henneberger et al., 2023) and PolarCAP (Polarimetric Radar Signatures of Ice Formation Pathwaysfrom Controlled Aerosol Perturbations) project in Eriswil in winter 2023-2024. For further details on the VISSS instrument see Maahn et al. (2024)
Full panorama images of 16 field plot centres during the expedition to Alaska Interior and the southern Seward Peninsula, summer 2024
During an expedition to Alaska Interior and the southern Seward Peninsula in summer 2024, full panoramic images of the sampled vegetation plots were captured for documentation purposes. The images were taken with a 360 camera (Insta360 R, 1 inch sensor) from the centre of the vegetation plots. At each, three images were recorded holding the camera at a fixed position at breast height (1.3 m above ground) standing at different positions. The images were stitched in the supplied software to 360x180 panorama images (6528x3264, raw images). These were aligned in Hugin Panorama Software (https://hugin.sourceforge.io/) and humans or other artificial objects masked. The final panorama was blended and gaps or human shadow errors healed with GIMP resynthesizer plugin (https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer) and exported into one image with 7776x3888 pixels
Description of lithologic section units of IODP Hole 386-M0081C
Description of lithologic section units from the above given hole of International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 386 (Japan Trench Paleoseismology). The content of this dataset is based on the visual core descriptions (VCD) done by sedimentologists during the onshore phase of expedition 386 (2022-02-14 – 2022-03-15 onboard D/V Chikyu). For digitalization of the information, content of the hand-drawn VCD sheets was transferred into the Drilling Information System database. The present dataset forms the basis for the digital lithologic columns and composite plots archived under the titles "Visual core description of IODP Hole 386-M0081C".

Seasonal highly branched isoprenoid concentration and isotope data from Brown's Lake, Ohio
Concentrations, hydrogen (δ2H) and carbon isotopes (δ13C) of highly branched isoprenoids (HBIs) from sediment trap samples from Brown's Lake in Ohio. Measurements also included concentrations, carbon isotopes (δ13C), percent carbon and C/N of the sediment trap samples. Samples were collected from July 2020 to October 2022 at monthly intervals. Column chromatography was used to isolate the HBIs. An Agilent 7890A gas chromatograph (GC) coupled with an Agilent 5975C quadrupole mass selective detector (MSD) was used to identify and quantify HBIs. A Thermo Trace GC Ultra coupled to an Isolink pyrolysis reactor and interfaced to a Thermo Electron Delta V Advantage IRMS was used for compound specific carbon and hydrogen isotopes of HBIs. Secchi disk depth and pH were also measured monthly at the time of each sediment trap sampling

Data sets used for the in-depth characterization and assessment of the HydroFlash O2 optode, applicable for several ocean observing platforms
Lab and field experiments were conducted with 13 CONTROS HydroFlash O2 optodes to evaluate the performance of this oxygen sensor. All optodes received pre- and post-deployment calibrations (multi-point and/or two-point), and field data complemented the extensive characterization, facilitating to address information about its salinity and hydrostatic pressure dependence, its stability assessment during storage and deployment, and its time dependence as well as performance on observation platforms
