No full textNo more than a mile from the extensive ruins of Pergamon is found the only synagogue of Bergama, adjacent to the former Jewish school. Four central columns define the tevah. The wooden ceiling is lavishly ornamented and painted; each side is different. The tourism-conscious municipal government has expressed interest in restoring the synagogue as a protected landmark.
