    Harry Z. Evan-Stein, 12/12/2000Harry Zvi Evan-Stein was born as Harry Stein in Vienna, where he joined a Zionist Scout Group as a boy. With his family he emigrated first to Belgium in 1938 and then to France in 1941. After being arrested in Vichy France and interned in a concentration camp until 1943 he joined a resistance group. After the end of the war Harry Stein emigrated to Israel, where he now lectures at the Ghetto Fighters House.Austrian Heritage Collectio

    Recollections on his life.Fred Grubel was born in Leipzig in 1908. He studied law in Freiburg and Leipzig and completed his dissertation in 1930. Before completing the bar exam he was dismissed from the law profession and became the director of the Jewish community in Leipzig. In 1938, he immigrated with his wife Lisa and their son Henry to England. Two years later, the family settled in the United States, where he worked as an accountant for the Joint Distribution Committee. At the end of the war, he traveled through Europe monitoring assistance for displaced persons. He later worked as an accountant at serveral hospitals, before joining the Leo Baeck Institute in 1966. He became its executive director in 1968. Fred Grubel died in 1998.Synopsis in fil
