The inspiration behind this issue stems from over two decades of research and scholarship presented at the Asian Adult Education Conference (AAE) (https://asianadulteducation.weebly.com/) originally known as the Asian Diaspora Adult Education Pre-Conference that has been organized in conjunction with the Adult Education Research Conference (AERC). AAE's mission has been to provide an academic forum for research and scholarship exchange, and mutual collaborations among scholars, researchers, educators, practitioners and policymakers in adult and higher education from the East, West and Rest. Since 2003, AAE has grown into the leading pre-conference at AERC, actively promoting research and co-constructing academic scholarship in the adult and higher education field
Novel Pyrolusite-Templated Biochar as an Outstanding Catalyst for Persulfate Activation: Structural Design, Synergistic Effect, and Mechanism

To access the final edited and published work see [https://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/acs.iecr.1c04459]The design of a high-efficiency and ecofriendly persulfate (PS) activator with low cost and superior performance in water decontamination still remains a big challenge. Herein, we report a facile strategy for the synthesis of novel pyrolusite-templated mesoporous catalyst (PMC), and used it as a green PS activator for the outstanding removal of bisphenol A (BPA) in water. The N2 adsorption–desorption curves and SEM-EDS images show that pyrolusite templating can successfully modulate the mesoporous structure of the catalyst; the XRD and XPS spectra indicate that pyrolusite templating renders the catalyst with enriched active sites and faster electron transfer. The mechanism studies suggest that both the radical and nonradical pathway [singlet oxygen (1O2)] contributed to BPA degradation, and 86.81% of the total organic carbon (TOC) of 100 mg/L BPA was removed using merely 0.4 g/L PMC, without detectable metal ion leaching. This work provides a new strategy for the structural design and property adjustment of an efficient persulfate catalyst for green environmental remediation
Mutation-Based Algebraic Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Computing the Distance of Linear Codes
This article is not available on ChesterRepFinding the minimum distance of linear codes is a non-deterministic polynomial-time-hard problem and different approaches are used in the literature to solve this problem.
 Although, some of the methods focus on finding the true distances by using exact algorithms, some of them focus on optimization algorithms to find the lower or upper bounds of the distance. In this study,
 we focus on the latter approach. We first give the swarm intelligence background of artificial bee colony algorithm, we explain the algebraic approach of such algorithm and call it the algebraic artificial bee colony algorithm (A-ABC). Moreover, we develop the A-ABC algorithm by integrating it with the algebraic differential mutation operator. We call the developed algorithm the mutation-based algebraic artificial bee colony algorithm (MBA-ABC). We apply both; the A-ABC and MBA-ABC algorithms to the problem of finding the minimum distance of linear codes. The achieved results indicate that the MBA-ABC algorithm has a superior performance when compared with the A-ABC algorithm when finding the minimum distance of Bose, Chaudhuri, and Hocquenghem (BCH) codes (a special type of linear codes)
How does camel milk fat profile compare with that of human milk fat to serve as a substitute for human milk?
Commercial milk is one of the most well-known substitutes for human milk. In view of this, we performed an in-depth examination of human milk compared with camel milk. Results showed that human milk and camel milk have the same levels of saturated fatty acids. Human milk contained a higher proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids, while camel milk had a higher content of monounsaturated fatty acids. Using UPC2/Q-TOF-MS, 146 and 136 triacylglycerols were identified in human and camel milk, respectively. Compared with camel milk, human milk contains more triglycerides composed of polyunsaturated fatty acids. We identified five major types of phospholipids in human and camel milk, with camel milk showing higher total phospholipid content than human milk. In addition, camel milk contains more cholesterol and fat-soluble vitamins than human milk. This study can provide a theoretical basis for improving infant formulas
An evaluation of a violence reduction partnership network: Mixed Methods Network Analysis
The work of the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership forms a network of stakeholders,
organisations and providers in a geographical area adopting a Public Health approach to Violence
prevention and reduction. The chosen area of focus for the evaluation had experienced complex
deprivation, significant implications due to Covid19 restrictions and a lack of outdoor recreation
space.
Network Analysis methodologies are increasingly being used in criminological research and
evaluations to assess the structures of social and economic networks. This study explored, using a
mixed-methods network analysis methodology, the nature of the established violence reduction
network in a specific geographical location in West Midlands.
A breadth of network activity is taking place across the community, however, the network analysis
highlighted gaps in terms of specialist provision for early years and support from those with lived
experience. It was perceived that a lack of continuity, in terms of changes in key roles, has affected
the network. Funding mechanisms were perceived ineffective, and not encouraging of development
of localisation services. Relationships between Network members were predominantly positive with
organisations having good communication and accessing support from one another; however,
identifying shared goals and better collective working would benefit the network.
This study pioneers using an innovative, mixed methods network analysis to explore a public health
approach to violence prevention and reduction. Quantitative data collection and analysis allowed for
assessment of the networks capacity and density, whilst qualitative data provided insights and
detailed accounts of how the network functions
Client-led applied sport psychology practitioners’ narratives about helping athletes

Applied sport psychology practitioners (8 females and 12 males, mean age = 33.76 years, SD = 4.70) describing themselves as client-led practitioners discussed two athlete consultancies during open-ended interviews. Data analysis involved examining the narrative structure of practitioners’ stories and identifying the features of client-led service-delivery present in the accounts. The participants’ stories reflected a collaborative empiricism narrative in which they collaborated with athletes to resolve client issues. The stories contained features of client-led Person-Centred Therapy and the use of practitioner-led techniques and interventions. The results point to applied implications, such as providing accounts of service delivery on which practitioners can reflect as they consider the ways they wish to help clients.

Reversible Quantum-dot Cellular Automata-based arithmetic logic unit
Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) are a promising nanoscale computing technology that exploits the quantum mechanical tunneling of electrons between quantum dots in a cell andelectrostatic interaction between dots in neighboring cells. QCA can achieve higher speed, lowerpower, and smaller areas than conventional, complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)
technology. Developing QCA circuits in a logically and physically reversible manner can provide exceptional reductions in energy dissipation. The main challenge is to maintain reversibility down to the physical level. A crucial component of a computer’s central processing unit (CPU) is the arithmetic logic unit (ALU), which executes multiple logical and arithmetic functions on the data processed by the CPU. Current QCA ALU designs are either irreversible or logically reversible; however, they lack physical reversibility, a crucial requirement to increase energy efficiency. This paper shows a new multilayer design for a QCA ALU that can carry out 16 different operations and is both logically and physically reversible. The design is based on reversible majority gates, which are the key building blocks. We use QCA Designer-E software to simulate and evaluate energy dissipation.
The proposed logically and physically reversible QCA ALU offers an improvement of 88.8% in energy efficiency. Compared to the next most efficient 16-operation QCA ALU, this ALU uses 51% fewer QCA cells and 47% less area
Implementing a Webster-Stratton parent and child programme in a school setting: an evaluation of a pilot project

Such problems are characterised by antisocial behaviour that includes defiance, aggression, and the violation of adult authority in the home as well as in school. A number of initiatives have been developed to tackle behaviour problems in children. The Incredible Years Series, developed and researched by Webster-Stratton, consists of three linked programmes for teachers, parents and children and is an example of one such development. This evaluation examined the process of implementation of the Webster-Stratton parent and child programme in one primary school in Halton. It was delivered as a pilot project by the Branches Project, a voluntary sector organisation based in Halton
Older adults’ experience of neuropsychological assessments for dementia screening in South India: a qualitative study
© 2023 DU B et al.Background: In community settings, neuropsychological assessment is the most commonly employed method for early recognition of dementia. However, little is known about the experience and perspectives of older adults when they undertake neuro psychological assessments in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs), including
India. Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews for 11 individuals (aged between 64 and 88 years) who had undergone cognitive assessment in the CST International (Cognitive Stimulation Therapy International) study and were free from dementia. The transcripts were analysed manually utilising Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis to develop key themes.
Results: When data were analysed three super-ordinate themes (experiences related to the process, content and outcomes) each with a set of subordinate themes emerged. Conclusions: This study highlights the need for a thorough planning of
pre-assessment briefing for equipping participants with adequate information related to the neuro psychological assessment: its
indication, length of procedure, contents of the test, possible outcomes, medical implications of those outcomes, possible
therapeutic options if diagnosed with lower cognitive function.We discuss our findings in relation to extant knowledge and explore issues clinicians should consider when conducting neuro psychological assessments in LMIC settings
Nurse-led Telephone Triage in Primary Care An Evaluation in South Cheshire
© University of ChesterNurse telephone triage has been present in various health care settings, particularly accident and emergency (A&E) departments, for a number of years. Research has suggested that when planned and implemented carefully, employing experienced and trained nursing staff, nurse telephone triage in either A&E or its more recent primary care context may assist in reducing or reorganising workloads. Given the increased pressure upon primary care staff, the result of increased patient demand and a policy driven shift in health care, nurse telephone triage in this setting may be a welcome addition
