A collaborative, semantic and context-aware search engine
Search engines help people to find information in the largest public knowledge system of the world: the Web. Unfortunately its size makes very complex to discover the right information. The users are faced lots of useless results forcing them to select one by one the most suitable. The new generation of search engines evolve from keyword-based indexing and classification to more sophisticated techniques considering the
meaning, the context and the usage of information. We argue about the three key aspects: collaboration, geo-referencing and semantics. Collaboration distributes storage, processing and trust on a world-wide network of nodes running on users’ computers, getting rid of bottlenecks and central points of failures. The
geo-referencing of catalogued resources allows contextualisation based on user position. Semantic analysis lets to increase the results relevance. In this paper, we expose the studies, the concepts and the solutions of a research project to introduce these three key features in a novel search engine architecture.213-21
CRS Seismic Data Imaging: A Case Study for Basin Reevaluation
This paper summarizes practical results of a consistent attention to the seismic processing and interpretation of some land data lines from a set of the Tacutu graben (Brazil), where was applied the fundamental steps of the WIT imaging system grounded on the data-driven CRS (Common Reflection Surface) stack.As a major result, we expect to establish a work-flow for seismic reevaluation of sedimentary basins. Founded on the recovered wave front attributes of the CRS stack, a smooth macro-velocity model was obtained via tomographic inversion. Using this macro-model, pre- and post-stack depth migration was carried out. Besides that, other CRS-stack based processing techniques were performed in parallel as residual static correction and limited-aperture migration based on estimated projected Fresnel zone. A geological interpretation was attempted on the stacked and migrated sections. From visual details of the panels, we could interpret discontinuities, thinning, a principal faulted anticline where plays of horsts, grabens and rollovers are present. Also, part of the selected line needs more detailed processing to make better evident any present structures in the subsurface.321-336Pubblicat
Problematiche di confezionamento e shelf life di prodotti da forno tradizionali
Nell’ambito del progetto sono stati effettuati degli studi sulla conservazione di alcuni prodotti da forno. La sperimentazione è stata condotta sulle Pardulas, un dolce tipico sardo, e sul pane Spianata. Entrambi i prodotti hanno una shelf life molto breve (da 5 a 10 giorni) a causa dello svilupparsi di muffe sulla loro superficie. Il progetto è stato articolato nelle seguenti fasi: 1. Studio delle caratteristiche dei prodotti e dei processi di preparazione; 2. Individuazione dei materiali e della tecnologia di confezionamento più idonei; 3. Messa a punto delle condizioni di conservazione, verifica della stabilità microbiologica, verifica delle caratteristiche qualitative dei prodotti; 4. Training del personale delle imprese sulle tecnologie impiegate. La sperimentazione condotta aveva l’obiettivo di: prolungare la shelf life delle Pardulas fino ad almeno 30 giorni; prolungare la shelf life del pane Spianata impedendo lo sviluppo delle muffe.Finanziamenti::Fondo Consortile - Sardegna Ricerch

An ontology-based content management system for a dynamic operating context: issues and prototype evaluation
Content management systems are very useful tools for organizing and sharing information resources and may considerably benefit from using ontology-based description schemes. Ontologies set a common ground for resource acquisition, enabling different users to share a common view of a knowledge domain, and may considerably enhance the search paradigms by exploiting semantic relationships between concepts. However, ontologies may evolve since they reflect knowledge schemes that are by nature dynamic. Moreover this evolution should be the result of a collaborative process of ontology maintenance. These and other issues are addressed in the present work and some practical solutions are proposed. Also, a very simple prototype implementation of an ontology-based content management system is described. Finally, the results of a short experimentation of this prototype within a small community are presented
