How Adult Attachment Styles Relate to Perceived Psychological Contract Breach and Affective Organizational Commitment
Get PDFThe current study examines the relationship between adult attachment style and both perceived psychological contract breach and affective organizational commitment in a sample of college students with employment experience. Attachment style is argued to be an individual difference factor that affects how an individual perceives organizational events based on theory and existing empirical research related to adult attachment style. Individuals with insecure attachment styles were predicted to perceive more psychological contract breach and have lower levels of affective organizational commitment. The results reveal that individuals with higher levels of preoccupied and dismissive attachment styles perceived higher levels of psychological contract breach, and preoccupied attachment style significantly and negatively relates to affective organizational commitment. The relationship between attachment style and psychological contract dimensions was stronger for relational than transactional contract dimensions. Evidence is also found that perceived psychological contract breach mediates the relationship between preoccupied attachment style and affective commitment. Future potential research directions are described. The implications of these findings for managerial practice is discussed

Get PDFCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is when organizations take actions that are perceived to further the good of society that go beyond just company self-interest and legal requirements. CSR involves companies engaging in behaviors that benefit humanity in the more general sense. CSR is often organizations looking to accomplish a triple bottom line that includes the economic interests of the firm, social good, and environmental well-being. Such actions can vary widely but include charity donations, supporting local communities, using eco-friendly materials, volunteering organizational time and resources to social causes, and even safeguarding human rights in areas with unstable governments. Corporate Social Responsibility can be focused on the needs of local communities but for multinational organizations spread across many different countries CSR is inherently international in nature. Organizations can be doing CSR actions in countries spread across the globe. Leaders can play a crucial role in how and even whether an organization engages in CSR, with leadership CSR behaviors effected by a leader’s personality and individual characteristics. CSR can also be controversial in nature as people with different perspectives or values may not agree on what corporate behaviors are indeed responsible and there are prominent examples of organizations that have engaged in what has been termed “greenwashing,” doing corporate actions that look environmentally responsible to the public but in fact have little positive impact, being little more than public relations stunts. An Analysis of a Hackberry-American Elm-Green Ash Forest Type at Moser Park, Allen County, Indiana
No full textMoser Park is a property in Allen County, Indiana, managed by New Haven Parks and Recreation. We conducted a plant survey within the forested section of the park, identifying and quantifying abundance of understory, midstory, and overstory plants. We calculated species richness and Shannon\u27s index for all three strata and tested for relationships with environmental variables (i.e., canopy cover, soil compaction, litter depth, and light availability). The majority of understory species are typically associated with disturbed habitats, with very little resemblance to natural, pre-settlement habitat (i.e., low coefficient of conservation values). Understory cover was dominated byRubus allegheniensis. Midstory stratum was less diverse than the understory and was dominated by an abundance of Fraxinus pennsylvanica, which was also an important species in the overstory. The forest at Moser Park matched the Hackberry–American Elm–Green Ash forest type. There was a lack of both Quercus and many Acer species within Moser Park that are common in the region. Because of the distinct soil types, and disturbance history, a relatively uncommon forest type for the region has developed in Moser Park that differs from the majority of forested land surrounding it
The Application of Multidimensional Poverty Maps to High-Income Countries: A Project Proposal for Allen County, Indiana, USA
Get PDFAbstract: In high-income countries poverty maps are typically applied to represent concentrations of poor populations according to a single demographic variable, such as race. Notwithstanding, in low to mid-income countries these maps are used to maximum effect in that they represent different gradations of adverse living conditions understood as unmet basic needs. Our aim in this paper is to offer a model for the study of multidimensional poverty in high-income countries Allen County, Indiana - that is able to capture the ways in which problems of need in housing, education, health, employment, nutrition, and environmental safety combine to produce households with joint disadvantages. We believe that multidimensional poverty maps constitute a superior way to grasp the needs of populations than single variable maps or poverty line methods. Data gathering will proceed by mailing a questionnaire to a sample of 3500 households in Allen County. Data will be processed through the application of cluster analysis and GIS mapping techniques. The presentation of these detailed estimates in the form of maps is a powerful communication tool that is readily understandable by a wide audience; further, mapping creates an important opportunity for different actors to join in the public debate on poverty.
