Aufgrund der §§ 2 Abs. 4 S. 1, 26 Abs. 3 S. 2 des Gesetzes über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (Hochschulgesetz - HG) vom 16.09.2014 (GV. NRW.
Granular PCM based heat sink for electronics thermal management
This study investigates aluminum heat sinks integrated with GR42 phase change material (PCM), aiming to enhance thermal inertia and stabilize device temperatures. This is important, since the increasing miniaturization and performance demands for electronic devices have led in a growing need for advanced thermal management systems capable of handling rapid transient loads. The novelty of the work lies in examining different heat sink layouts that optimize the heat dissipation capabilities of GR42 PCMs while minimizing size and weight for electronic cooling. The experimental testing was conducted using three configurations, namely no fin, circular fin and hexagonal fin, with three input powers (4 W, 8 W, and 12 W). The experimental results show that the hexagonal-fin heat sink, surface area is 25 % more than circular fins, exhibited superior thermal performance without significant variation in input power. Notably, the hexagonal-fin heat sink achieved the desired set point temperature of 55 ◦C in 33 % less time than the circular-fin design and 45 % less time than the heat sink without fins. Furthermore, the peak temperatures increased up to 21 % for circular fins. During the charging cycles, the enhancement ratios vary from 72 % and begin to narrow to 25 % during discharge cycles. The hexagonal-fin configuration also exhibited superior melting dynamics, completing the phase transition 44 % faster at higher input power than the circular fins, and established a thermal deviation of nearly 51 % less than finless heat sinks. These findings underscore the critical role of fin geometry and PCM integration in achieving uniform temperature distribution and improved energy storage efficiency. Overall, the hexagonal-fin heat sink with GR42 PCM shows strong potential as a passive cooling solution for low-power portable electronic devices

“God is more pro-woman than anyone in this world”: Fundamentalist evangelical influencers as an anti-feminist defensive public
Counterpublics provide space for marginalised groups to voice opinions and experiences neglected by hegemonic discourse. This paper highlights publics that present themselves as counterpublics but which in actual fact reinforce existing hierarchies, particularly patriarchal structures. The case study of Girl Defined Ministries, a fundamentalist evangelical influencer duo based in Texas, links the research fields of digital religion and anti-feminist defensive publics, revealing parts of anti-feminism online that have hitherto been the reserve of digital religion studies. A consideration of the national history and religious developments of recent decades in the United States allows for a deeper understanding of this type of religious influencer. Girl Defined post content about their concept of “Biblical womanhood” on multiple platforms. In the present study, 56 blog articles by Girl Defined were analysed using qualitative content analysis through the analytical lens of the Social Identity model of Deindividuation Effects (SIDE), which reflects on how group identity is formed by simultaneously enhancing in-group and devaluing out-group norms. The findings demonstrate that Girl Defined portray the out-group, feminism, as an anti-God ideology responsible for the collective misery of women in Western societies, and hold women responsible for their own discontent by choosing the wrong path. Girl Defined therefore promote their in-group values, gender roles for women defined by God, and submission to men as the only way to live a joyful life. Presenting themselves as a persecuted and ostracised counterpublic to a feminist mainstream is central to Girl Defined’s argument. The paper adds to the existing literature on women anti-feminist and religious influencers as a development of mediatization
EB3-informed dynamics of the microtubule stabilizing cap during stalled growth
Microtubule stability is known to be governed by a stabilizing GTP/GDP-Pi cap, but the exact relation between growth velocity, GTP hydrolysis, and catastrophes remains unclear. We investigate the dynamics of the stabilizing cap through in vitro reconstitution of microtubule dynamics in contact with microfabricated barriers, using the plus-end binding protein GFP-EB3 as a marker for the nucleotide state of the tip. The interaction of growing microtubules with steric objects is known to slow down microtubule growth and accelerate catastrophes. We show that the lifetime distributions of stalled microtubules, as well as the corresponding lifetime distributions of freely growing microtubules, can be fully described with a simple phenomenological 1D model based on noisy microtubule growth and a single EB3-dependent hydrolysis rate. This same model is furthermore capable of explaining both the previously reported mild catastrophe dependence on microtubule growth rates and the catastrophe statistics during tubulin washout experiments
