An analysis of formal sector employment in South Africa: Its implications for poverty and future economic strategies
Although poverty may be most extreme among those without formal sector employment and hence incomes, it also extends to large numbers of wage earners. Thus attempts to alleviate poverty usually emphasize employment generation or increases in real wages, or both.
