Ford
Ford is an attempt to record every organism that grows on a grave. I use a combination of observational drawing with quadrat data collection to direct the viewers eye to what I want them to notice in the form of a four-panel etching. The grave itself is a family plot in Ford Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bootle. There are 5 bodies within and countless growing from them. While drawing I try to take notice of each leaf, distinguishing each organism as unique but interconnected. Acknowledging the smallest details and lifeforms as worthy of attention. Noticing these details is a choice, every mark I record is a choice.
Looking and drawing are not a passive process, you engage in a dialogue with the subject, trying to see and record as much as you can. Similarly, prayer is not passive, you meditate on the spiritual concerns you have. ‘Ford’ is a communion with the life that is sustained by the grave.
I am influenced by a Catholic upbringing and the bodies in the grave were also Catholic. Catholic’s say masses for the dead to ease their souls through the afterlife, because of this the soul still exists in the collective consciousness of the parish and of those who knew them. The drawing, printing, and etching of the four-panels took 2 years, a period where I lived with the grave, drawing each day echoing a routine of evening prayer. The memory of those in the grave exist with me while I draw it and continue with every viewing of the prints

Investigating the Formation Mechanism of ZnO Nanoparticles using Plant Extracts: A Review
Nanotechnology is an emerging field of science that concerns the industrial use of nanoparticles (NPs), of the size ranges between 1 to 100 nm, which are classified into different classes such as inorganic, organic, ceramic and carbon-based nanoparticles. Zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs is utilized in numerous applications due to their vital properties (please mention which properties, or what these properties are important for) and hence it will be the focus for this review. Because producing NPs using chemically and physically is often expensive and potentially harmful to both the environment and the user, there has been an increasing interest in using biological or green methods to produce metal and metal oxide NPs. Recently, the researchers started to utilize green synthesis methods for producing different NPs, however, the NPs formation mechanism using plant extracts are still under investigation. Consequently, more in-depth studies are needed on how NPs are formed in plant extract medium. This review is designed to highlight the most robust mechanisms of formations ZnO NPs using plant extracts and to cover the commonly used plants for synthesizing ZnO NPs over the last fourteen years. This review will also help researchers to understand the proposed formation mechanisms of the NPs synthesis using plant extracts And to identify the gaps in the knowledge in this field
Heart rate variability and subjective indicators of recovery in U19 soccer players
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between HRV parameters and subjective measures of recovery in U19 elite soccer players. Eleven soccer players (age 17.64 ± 1.03 years, weight 72.73 ± 6.05 kg, height 177.27 ± 5.83 cm) from the same team volunteered to participate in the study. Morning HRV measures were collected using photoplethysmography via the HRV4 training smartphone application, along with self-reported data (fatigue levels, sleep quality from the previous night, morning mental energy, soreness, and the previous day’s RPE). Means and standard deviations were calculated for HR, RMSSD and LnRMSSD, subjective responses and anthropometric measurements. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were used to assess the associations between HRV parameters and self-reported measures. A total of 184 HRV measurements and self-reported parameters were evaluated for the 11 players. Based on the analysis, both LnRMSSD and RMSSD showed strong positive correlations (p<0.01) with sleep quality and mental energy. In contrast, they were negatively correlated (p<0.01) with fatigue and RPE. Self-reported variables indicated that better sleep was significantly associated with higher energy and lower fatigue, while greater mental energy was also linked with reduced fatigue. Our findings suggest that daily monitoring of HRV using accessible smartphone technology may provide coaches and practitioners with a practical, non-invasive tool to track autonomic function, recovery status and training adaptations in young athletes. Integrating HRV data with subjective wellness measures could enable more individualized prescriptions, support early detection of fatigue or overload, and ultimately optimize performance
Parafoveal Processing and Transposed-Letter Effects in Developmental Dyslexic Reading
During reading, adults and children independently parafoveally encode letter identity and letter position information using a flexible letter position encoding mechanism. The current study examined parafoveal encoding of letter position and letter identity for dyslexic children. Eye movements were recorded during a boundary-change paradigm.
Parafoveal previews were either an identity preview (e.g., nearly), a transposed-letter preview (e.g., enarly), or a substituted-letter preview (e.g., acarly). Dyslexic readers showed a preview benefit for identity previews, indicating that orthographic information was encoded parafoveally. Furthermore, dyslexic readers benefitted from transposed-letter previews more than substituted-letters previews, demonstrating that letter identity was encoded independently to letter position during parafoveal processing. Although a transposed-letter effect was found for dyslexic readers, they demonstrated a reduced sensitivity to detect transposed letters in later measures of reading, that is, go-past times, relative to that found for typically developing readers. We conclude that dyslexic readers, with less rich and fully specified lexical representations, have a reduced sensitivity to transpositions of the first two letters of the upcoming word in preview. These findings are compatible with the view that orthographic representations of dyslexic children are not sufficiently specified
Comparative Efficacy and Safety of Endoscopic Modalities for Colorectal Cancer Screening in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis
Background: Long-standing Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) increases the risk of colonic neoplasia, necessitating effective screening strategies. This network meta-analysis (NMA) compared the efficacy and safety between different endoscopic modalities in the high-definition (HD) era.
Methods: We searched CENTRAL, ClinicalTrials.gov, Embase, MEDLINE, and WHO for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing endoscopic modalities for screening colonoscopy in IBD patients up to February 2024. The primary outcome was detection of any dysplastic lesion per patient. The certainty of the evidence was GRADE assessed.
Results: A total of 26 RCTs involving 4,159 participants were included, comparing 6 endoscopic modalities: HD white light endoscopy (HD-WLE), HD virtual chromoendoscopy (HD-VCE), HD dye-based chromoendoscopy (HD-DCE), HD-WLE with segmental re-inspection (SR), auto-fluorescence imaging (AFI), and full-spectrum endoscopy (FUSE). HD-DCE may have a small benefit in detecting dysplasia over HD-WLE (low certainty, small magnitude, RR 1.42, 95% CI: 1.02-1.98). FUSE may be no different to HD-WLE (low certainty, RR 3.24, 95% CI: 0.66-15.87). The other modalities were assessed as very low certainty (HD-WLE with SR: RR 1.35, 95% CI: 0.66-2.77; AFI: RR 1.18, 95% CI: 0.55-2.57; HD-VCE: RR 0.99, 95% CI: 0.69-1.43). Sensitivity analyses supported these findings. Limited data on serious adverse events precluded meta-analysis; 2 serious events were reported among 2164 patients (very low certainty).
Conclusions: HD-DCE is the only modality for IBD surveillance with evidence (low-certainty) demonstrating potential to detect more dysplastic lesions compared to HD-WLE. There was no evidence to support any of the other modalities as an alternative due to very low-certainty evidence

Conscious sedation teaching in dental schools of the United Kingdom and Ireland: an update
Aim To examine the current state of conscious sedation teaching to undergraduates in the dental schools of the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland.
Background In 2000, Leitch and Girdler published ‘A survey of the teaching of conscious sedation in the United Kingdom and Ireland' in the British Dental Journal, which gave insight into the undergraduate experience and the teaching of conscious sedation in UK and Ireland at that time. In October 2022, the Dental Sedation Teachers Group (DSTG) adapted this survey for the wider dental team to evaluate current undergraduate conscious sedation education in dental schools in the UK and Ireland.
Methods A survey was adapted and piloted by two DSTG school representatives. This was distributed via email to the DSTG school representatives of UK and Irish dental schools, with repeat emails sent to non-responders.
Results In total, 13 out of 16 schools responded. Most sedation teaching was led by staff from oral surgery and paediatric dentistry (nine schools). This survey included the wider dental team; sedation training was delivered by staff from hygiene and therapy departments in three schools.
Conclusion Decreased sedation experience was observed in most schools over the last 25 years. Currently, there is limited experience of undergraduate sedation in most schools
Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Predictive CyberSecurity: Enhancing Threat Forecasting and Vulnerability Management
The rise in sophisticated cyber threats demands advanced cybersecurity methods that surpass traditional rule-based approaches. This study explores the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance predictive cybersecurity, enabling more accurate threat forecasting and effective vulnerability management. The research assesses various AI
modelssuch as neural networks, decision trees, and Support Vector Machines (SVMs) in their ability to predict cyber threats. Employing a quantitative methodology, the study utilizes historical data from cybersecurity sources, threat intelligence feeds, vulnerability logs, and incident reports. Key performance metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and Receiver Operating Characteristic - Area Under the Curve (ROC-AUC), were used to test, validate, and train the AI models. Neural networks emerged as the most accurate, achieving 93% accuracy, particularly excelling in identifying phishing attacks and zero-day vulnerabilities. SVM models also performed well, minimizing false positives and increasing detection rates, while decision trees proved computationally efficient and easily interpretable in simpler cybersecurity scenarios. The findings underscore the superiority of AI models over traditional methods, offering dynamic solutions for evolving cyber threats. This research contributes to the field by demonstrating the extensive potential of AI in predictive cybersecurity, providing actionable insights for organizations implementing AI-driven threat detection and vulnerability management
