Electrocardiogram Measurement and Emotion Estimation of Working Dogs

    No full text
Physiological measurements of dogs' emotional states during human-animal interactions are essential for understanding the underlying biological relationship. Heart rate measured by electrocardiogram (ECG) can be used for the physiological measurement of emotional state. Soft disposable electrodes, which can be purchased commercially and reduce the risk of an injury on hitting objects, are used to measure the heart rate during working dogs' exercise. However, the heart rate measurements using soft disposable electrodes in M-X lead layout are unstable due to the detachment of electrodes during intensive movement. In addition, the collection of accurately labeled ECG data, which reflects the emotion of the working dog during exercise, is a key issue to conduct reliable estimation and visualization of the working dog's emotional states. In this paper, we propose an innerwear that fixes soft disposable electrodes in M-X lead layout on a dog's body for measuring the heart rates of exercising dogs, even during intense movement. We experimentally tested the proposed method using seven dogs. Our proposed system reduced the time required to attach soft disposable electrodes by more than two-thirds and enabled the measurement of >97% of the heartbeats in exercising dogs. We also proposed a method for collecting ECG data with reliable positive/negative emotional labels of search and rescue (SAR) dogs. A combination of the collected data with the emotion estimation algorithm proposed in previous studies estimated SAR dogs' positive/negative emotions at 97.9% accuracy. The transition of the two SAR dogs' emotions during drills was visualized using the collected data.journal articl

NCDSearch: Sliding Window-Based Code Clone Search Using Lempel-Ziv Jaccard Distance

    Get PDF
Software developers may write a number of similar source code fragments including the same mistake in software products. To remove such faulty code fragments, developers inspect code clones if they found a bug in their code. While various code clone detection methods have been proposed to identify clones of either code blocks or functions, those tools do not always fit the code inspection task because a faulty code fragment may be much smaller than code blocks, e.g. a single line of code. To enable developers to search code clones of such a small faulty code fragment in a large-scale software product, we propose a method using Lempel-Ziv Jaccard Distance, which is an approximation of Normalized Compression Distance. We conducted an experiment using an existing research dataset and a user survey in a company. The result shows our method efficiently reports cloned faulty code fragments and the performance is acceptable for software developers.journal articl

    交差点での歩行者通行量に応じた信号制御

    No full text

Hype Live: Biometric-based Sensory Feedback for Improving the Sense of Unity in VR Live Performance

    Get PDF
We propose Hype Live, a system to improve the sense of unity by sharing responses through visual, auditory, and haptic stimuli based on the biometrics of the participants in VR live performances. In this field, the sharing of reactions among the participants is one of the most important factors in improving the sense of unity. However, not many past studies have provided feedback to the participants' senses. Therefore, as a prototype of Hype Live, we used a vibration device to provide haptic feedback and recreated moshing scenes where the participants violently collide with each other like a real live performance.conference pape

GitHub Sponsors: Exploring a New Way to Contribute to Open Source

    No full text
GitHub Sponsors, launched in 2019, enables donations to individual open source software (OSS) developers. Financial support for OSS maintainers and developers is a major issue in terms of sustaining OSS projects, and the ability to donate to individuals is expected to support the sustainability of developers, projects, and community. In this work, we conducted a mixed-methods study of GitHub Sponsors, including quantitative and qualitative analyses, to understand the characteristics of developers who are likely to receive donations and what developers think about donations to individuals. We found that: (1) sponsored developers are more active than non-sponsored developers, (2) the possibility to receive donations is related to whether there is someone in their community who is donating, and (3) developers are sponsoring as a new way to contribute to OSS. Our findings are the first step towards data-informed guidance for using GitHub Sponsors, opening up avenues for future work on this new way of financially sustaining the OSS community.conference pape
