    The dataset created from ACL, NAACL, and EMNLP, the major international conferences in Natural Language Processing. The dataset is splitted into train (80%), valid (10%), and test (10%) sets.     Ceramics, one of the brilliant creations of ancient human civilization, played a significant role in the development of ancient society. Previous researches have also shown that ceramics have undergone extensive and in-depth exchanges between civilizations or countries. However, most studies have focused on the shapes or patterns of the materials. It is not enough researches on production techniques and technological. This article attempts to address this issue by taking the communication between ancient Japan and China as an example and exploring the exchange model of ancient ceramic kiln industry through the cultural diffusion and exchange of kiln technology between ancient civilizations. At the same time, as the focus of this article is not on the movement of ceramics between civilizations, but on the specific dissemination models of kiln technology related to ceramics among civilizations, this article summarizes the Chinese ceramics unearthed in Japan during the same period, and clearly analyzes that the dissemination of kiln technology cannot be achieved solely through the imitation of objects. Based on previous researches on kiln technology dissemination, this article classifies and summarizes the dissemination methods of kiln technology across civilizations or countries according to the difficulty of dissemination and proposes the "kiln technology dissemination hierarchy theory", hoping to be applied in future researches on ancient kiln technology exchange. In the framework of the methodology mentioned above, regarding the technical exchange between ancient Japan and China in the kiln industry, the viewpoint of this article is that, in addition to the most difficult "technology group overall transfer pattern", the four models of "technology group overall transfer pattern", "technology return pattern", "physical object return imitation pattern", and "physical observation imitation pattern" all have sufficient possibilities in ancient Japanese Chinese exchanges.departmental bulletin pape

    Terrorism and the Southern Africa Development Community Mission in Mozambique : Institutionalism Revived?

    Terrorism, a long-standing threat to African security, has often been met with ad hoc coalitions. While these coalitions provide rapid responses, their temporary nature and limitations in addressing the structural drivers of terrorism have been raising questions about their long-term effectiveness. This article examines the evolving dynamics of regional security cooperation in Africa, focusing on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM). SAMIM, deployed in 2021 to counter the insurgency in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, offers a unique case for exploring the potential shift toward institutionalized regional security responses. By analyzing SAMIM within the broader context of African security cooperation, this article argues that, rather than a departure from Africa’s reliance on ad hoc coalitions, SAMIM exposes the persistent limitations of regional organizations. The paper critically assesses SAMIM’s political and regional dimensions through a qualitative case study approach, offering new insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Africa’s counterterrorism efforts. Ultimately, this study contributes to understanding how regional organizations like SADC might evolve to address complex security threats while balancing national sovereignty and regional cooperation.departmental bulletin pape

    Navajos in the Southwest U.S. saw the oil boom in the 1920s. After the first oil was discovered on their reservation in 1922, there were increasing demands for a lease to drill and extract oil from the oil industry. In order to respond to these demands, the federal government asked Navajos to form a tribal council to decide the approval. In 1922 local Navajo councils were held in some districts and a tribal council to represent the entire Navajo lands was established in 1923. There followed a rapid oil development on the reservation which lasted until 1927 when it started to decline due to overproduction and falling prices in the U.S. During this short period, while endorsing oil leases, the tribal council tried to negotiate their needs for lands, water, roads, hospitals and schools with the Department of the Interior. Although some conflicts ensued between delegates and leaders over this approach, they sought for ways to adapt to new changes through the tribal council.departmental bulletin pape

    Likeness picture (Nise-e), which were popular in the Kamakura period, are drawn in a style that is difficult to understand in terms of the politics of culture. Portraits are small paper drawings, without color and not very elaborated in their finish. Sometimes they depict faces in a comical manner. This kind of portrayal gives a kind of vulgarity to the work. Why, then, did the aristocrats decide to entrust their own image to such vulgarized expressions? In this essay, I will look for the source of such value in Sarugaku. In Sarugaku, the vulgarization of the aristocracy’s noble culture was highly valued as an artistic achievement. This is the so-called “spirit of the Oko(Stupid behavior sometimes intentionally performed as an art)”. This spirit spilled over into the arts other than Sarugaku, resulting in “Shin Sarugaku Ki” by Fujiwara no Akihira in the literary arts and “Oko-e” paintings in the pictorial arts. It is thought that Likeness paintings may also have been born in the same way. During the reign of Emperor Go-Shirakawa, Likeness paintings were getting incorporated into an authoritative framework, like the Saishōkoin Gosho shōji-e. However, as a result of this, Likeness paintings were split into two lines, the original Sarugaku-like one and the new authoritative one. On the other hand, it should be pointed out that such duality worked to the advantage when the “portrait of Emperor Go-Toba” was produced.departmental bulletin pape

    The Tale of Genji features many unique supporting characters. Kobai(Red plum) Dainagon is the second son of a retired minister and Kashiwagi’s younger brother. He first appeared in Sakaki, Volume 10. He then appeared in important scenes in the story up until Yadoriki, volume 49. Compared to his brother, his presence is weak. However, he is an important character who appears continuously from parts one to three. His defining feature is his beautiful voice. In sakaki, he appeared for the first time and sang Takasago. This incident has been frequently recalled and referred to ever since. His beautiful voice praises Hikaru Genji’s greatness as a king. It also demonstrates the strong bond between the Genji and the Minister’s family. He also sang with a beautiful voice in Fujinouraba, the final volume of the first part. In the second part, after the death of his brother, he became head of the Minister’s family. In the third part, Kobai, Volume 43, his family is talked about. He tried to get Nihounomiya to marry Nakanokimi, not knowing that Nihounomiya was in love with Miyanoonkata. Unaware of the secret of Kaoru’s birth, he became jealous of Kaoru who had become the Emperor’s son-in-law. He had courted many women in the past, but his love was unsuccessful. His love is exactly like Takasago’s lyrics. As such, he is caricatured as a buffoonish figure.departmental bulletin pape

    In ancient Japan, the concept of patrilineal “houses” (IE) had not yet been established, making the idea of male heirs (chakushi) nonfunctional in reality. However, references to “male heirs” became more common during the 12th-century cloistered-rule period, highlighting the prevalence of male heirs who inherit positions and property. Male heirs began inheriting a significant portion of land, property, and house documents from their parents, succeeding to the political positions of their ancestors and expected to inherit their “house.” Simultaneously, the adoption of sons was widespread from an early stage, serving various purposes. The 12th-century Hossō Shiyō Shō began interpreting that even sons adopted from outside the family lineage could inherit the family profession. The shift in the roles of male heirs and adopted sons during the early medieval period occurred alongside the establishment of father-son inheritance of family professions and governmental positions.departmental bulletin pape
