    No full text
In the literature, broken resection loops are rarely discussed and the reasons for their occurrence are insufficiently documented. The purpose of the present work is to investigate the suitability of methods for loop wear analysis in TURP. The aim is to clarify the currently open questions such as: Does material wear on the loop surface lead to broken resection loops during the surgery procedure? How does material wear influence the power input into the prostate tissue and thus the resulting temperature distribution in the tissue? For the first time, four experimental methods for loop wear analysis are applied in combination. As a result, the experimental investigation show that it was possible to measure a wear-related impedance change in-situ, matching to the wear-related geometry change of the resection loop. Moreover, the measured impedance led to information about loop defects in an invisible part of the resection electrode. For the duration of the surgery procedure, the loop wear can be ruled out as the cause of broken loops with a very high probability. Finite element analyses were used for evaluating the spatial temperature distribution of the prostate tissue. The simulation model based on the measurement results. The simulated spatial temperature distribution does not show any enlargement of affected tissue areas due to wear-induced temperature increase.:1 Einleitung 2 Grundlagen und Stand der Forschung 3 Lösungsansatz und Methoden 4 Versuchsumgebungen zur experimentellen Umsetzung 5 Ergebnisse der experimentellen Untersuchungen 6 Numerische Methoden 7 Ergebnisse aus den numerischen Methoden 8 Diskussion 9 Zusammenfassun

Multilevel Approaches to Dealing with the Challenges of Diversity

In recent years, the role of diversity has become increasingly important and present – both in society and at the workplace. Diversity, that is any attribute that people might use do distinguish between self and others, is a topic that is visible in several areas and that has challenging implications, both for organizations and for society as a whole. It is a multilevel construct that needs a holistic approach - but so far, most of the research on diversity is limited to the team level, without reflecting on implications for other levels and interactions with other levels of diversity. The first objective of this dissertation is to examine whether approaches of organizational diversity research, namely faultlines, are applicable to the societal level and whether they are useful on this level to explain phenomena of societal relevance. Second, we investigate whether diversity trainings on the team-level can help meet these challenges by teaching useful competencies. And third, we explore whether characteristics on the individual level, namely intrapersonal diversity, enable people to overcome the challenges of diversity which will ultimately also contribute to meet the challenges of diversity on the societal level. On the basis of the combination of findings on diversity at three different levels and the introduced multi-level model, new hypotheses at different levels of analyses can be formulated and subsequently tested.:1. Characterisation of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for additive manufacturing

    No full text
Despite increasing use, many 3d printing material properties are not openly available, which causes barriers to simulation and application. Four additively manufactured thermoplastic polyurethanes were characterised at low (0.006 1/s) to high (16 1/s) compressive and tensile strain rates, and during stress relaxation. Quasi-static Young’s moduli were determined to be 24 – 247 MPa, increasing by up to 183% at 16 1/s.Trotz der zunehmenden Verwendung sind viele Materialeigenschaften für den 3D-Druck nicht offen zugänglich, was die Simulation und Anwendung erschwert.

For some years, inertial sensors have become increasingly popular in various sports applications due to their small size and weight. However – due to the problem of sensor drift – additional sensors are usually required to obtain reliable position estimates. In this paper, we present an approach for position estimation in bouldering that relies solely on inertial sensors and domain knowledge that is modeled as a virtual sensor.

    No full text
Vorbetrachtungen 3. Problemformulierung und Analysemethodik 4. Die Probleme im Detail 5. Zusammenfassung 6. Ausblick A. ImplementationenA consumer is offered discounts in a variety of situations. The central question investigated in this dissertation is how to formalize such discount situations from a consumer perspective and what methods for deducing purchase decisions are possible. To answer this question a formal framework for discount situations is established and used to explore a new group of eight discount problems based on everyday experience with loyalty programs. These problems are distinguished by discount basis (stamps / points), card type (single / group) and whether stamps/-points are collectable if a discount is granted. The inherent uncertainty in consumer decisions is explicitly taken into account by considering each of these problems as an online situation as well. Regarding the online problems, a method for competitive analysis is presented. Each of the eight problems is examined as a decision, an optimization and an online problem. For all decision problems N P-completeness is shown. Each optimization problem is solved via linear integer programming and some stamp based optimization problems are furthermore solved with dynamic programming. For each online problem a lower bound on the competitive ratio is presented together with three groups of online algorithms and the respective bounds on the competitive ratio.:1.

Radio broadcasting is the primary part of the infotainment system in automobile and nowadays it is not only uses for the entertainment but facilitate the users by broadcasting digital information along with audio data. Radio Data System (RDS) is the radio broadcasting communication standard that broadcasts the digitally encoded data on the conventional band of the analogue FM radio. It transfers different type of data that uses for various applications along with audio channel of the FM radio station and overcome the glitches of the car radio to big scope. It is using commercially in the infotainment system of the automobile with basic features of the RDS since fifteen years. However, it is facing issues with lower data rates as compared to other digital radio broadcasting technologies that are also using in many countries. To confront this issue, RDS forum proposed the standardization of RDS with RDS2 in 2018, So RDS2 has been standardized and published that improves the data capacity by adding more channels. Hence, developers can use these channels for broadcasting the additional information. The ultimate goal of thesis is the development of RDS2 encoder, which increases the data capacity up to four times as compared to currently RDS encoder by upgrading the data channels with the modeling of additional RDS2 features and services. This thesis proposes an approach for the implementation and validation of encoder with complete simulation of FM-RDS2 transmitter under all standardized feature modeling in the Software Defined Radio (SDR) environment. For this purpose, GNU Radio Companion (GRC) is used which offers the signal processing blocks to construct SDR modules. Using GRC, three main steps will be completed by using different libraries and tools. Implementation of RDS2 encoder and data-rate enforcer blocks with features modeling are written in C++ language. GUI designing of each block is executed in XML script language and simulation of complete FM-RDS2 transmitter using all-new custom and predefined signal processing blocks. Our determinative observation shows this approach remarkable improvements in terms of a prototype of new standard’s encoder, interpolating property of framework and decreasing the cost

Test System for Charging Communication of Use Cases based on Different Standards

To charge an all types of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is the most primary part of the electrical vehicle industry. Nowadays charging communication between vehicle and charging station becoming more and more popular. Automotive industries are trying to charge vehicles in minimal time and also the secured one. In the charging communication scenario, current is flowing through the charging station to the EV through electric line and normally communication between them takes place with the help of Controller Area Network (CAN), Wi-Fi and Powerline Communication (PLC) etc. There are two types of charging communication available in the current industry: High level and Low level communication for Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC). Low Level Communication (LLC) uses only Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals to transmit data, which is analog signals. On the other hand, High level Communication (HLC) provides digital and IP network based communication. These both types also support many different standards for communication. For example, ISO 15118, IEC 61851, DIN 70121 and many more. These standards have the message sequences for the flow of charging and also their implementation. The goal of this thesis is the development of low cost EVSE test system, which has the PLC technology with up to 10 Mbps data rate and two different standards for charging communication with HLC. This thesis proposes an implementation between a communication controller or SECC of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) side and Signal Level Attenuation Characterization (SLAC) in PLC modem. SLAC functionality helps to overcome the problem of crosstalk while charging. In this work, there will be a test system with SECC and PWM generator, some resistors to identify proper lock mechanism between charging cable and vehicle inlet, the ISO 15118 and IEC 61851 for PWM signals. Implementation of SECC will be in JAVA language and each message executed in XML script language. Our examination shows this approach very remarkable low cost AC based test system with digital communication system, which can help to test direct or virtual EV or HiL system
