Identifying Onboard Diagnosis-Relevant Errors of an SCR System, using Neural Networks
The selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) is responsible for the reduction of harmful NO x gases in vehicles. A faulty SCR system causes higher emissions of NO x gases, which results in multiple environmental and health hazards. This important role played by the SCR system is the reason for selecting this topic for my thesis.
The goal of this thesis is to evaluate whether a neural network can be implemented for the easy analysis and classification of the various possible errors that could tamper with the proper functioning of the SCR system. The data required for the learning algorithm is already available with IAV. In this thesis report, I shall discuss an approach for the identification of SCR errors using a neural network on the already available data.
The results of this thesis could have a positive impact on the environment as well as on the health of the people. The results of this thesis would be of key importance for the automotive field and for industries that use diesel

6 Anhang 195In the present work, metal chalcogenide nanoparticles or Quantum Dots were obtained size-selectively using continuous MicroJet Reactor technology. Due to the short mixing times in the µs to ms range, crystallite nucleation and crystal growth are well separated and enable concentration-limited particle growth. Alternatively, particle growth can be limited by stabilizers. Starting from the water-soluble precursors Cd(NO3)2 and Na2S, a synthesis strategy for both electrostatic and ligand stabilized CdS nanoparticles in aqueous medium was developed. The nanocrystalline products obtained were characterized by a narrow, monodisperse particle size distribution. Examining the influence of the particle size, numerous reaction parameters e. g. temperature, ratio of precursors, concentration or precipitant were varied. In further investigations, the transferability of the MicroJet Reactor synthesis to the metal chalcogenides (Cd,Zn)S, Ag2S and AgInS2 was validated. By means of post-synthetic coating of the nanoparticles produced in the MicroJet Reactor, more complex systems such as CdS/ZnS or Ag2S/ZnS core/shell particles are accessible. Initial experiments on the synthesis of CdSe confirmed the suitability of the continuous process for precipitation of selenides.:1 Einleitung 1

From geometrical modelling to simulation of touch of textile products - open modelling issues
The touch of textile products is a complex process, depending on the interaction between the
human finger and the textile product. The evaluation of the touch, or so named handle properties is
complex process, requiring samples, testing humans or special testing devices. The numerical
evaluation of the surface is until now not reported, because of the complexity of the textile products.
This work presents the current state of the 3D modelling of textile products at yarn and fiber level
and the required additional steps in order these models to get applicable for numerical simulation of
the fabric touch. This work cover only the aspects related to the textile representation and do not
include the modelling of the human finger as mechanical and receptor system during the interaction.
The new manufacturing possibilities offered by additive manufacturing not only allows to produce topologically novel components, but also enables to provide components with internal structures that are adapted to the component load or offer new possibilities for other functions. One approach is to use permeable internal structures, e. g. lattice structures, to realize efficient component cooling through the large internal surfaces created thereby. The effect of such a cooling is demonstrated by simulations and experiments using a simple example. As a further application example, the use of various internal structures for the strength-oriented design of weight-optimized components will be presented. In both cases the design is experimentally accompanied by FE models
Mechanical joining technology has gained in importance in recent years due to the trend towards mixing methods and materials, that are poorly suitable for welding. For this reason, the further development of this process group is in focus. In addition to the known methods of blind riveting, flow form screws or flanging, clinching is also constantly expanding in its areas of application. Due to the process, the clinching of slim hollow profiles is only possible to a very limited extent. The extension of the 'orbital clinching' process enables for the first time to connect slim hollow profiles by means of clinching. In the experimental process investigation, mixed connections, were made from steel and aluminum round pipes. In addition, pipe connections made of the material 22MnB5 were press-hardened using a subsequent heat treatment process. As a result, the tensile shear strength of the clinch points could be increased by up to 25 %
Visualization of Crash Channel Assignments in a Tabular Form
Passive safety systems try to lessen the effects of an accident. Airbags are a passive safety feature. They are designed to protect occupants of a vehicle during a crash. These systems have to be configured correctly in order to deploy airbags at the right time in case of a collision. Airbag application tools are used to simulate and interpret crashes. Some factors influence when an airbag should deploy. Based on different parameters, the logic for firing airbags is also different. Under every circumstance, an airbag has to be deployed at the right time in order to prevent injuries and fatalities. During the process of simulation, the data which is simulated is written to a database. During interpretation, this data is extracted from the database. Then, the required information can be analyzed and interpreted for further use.
This data contains crash related information. For example, the type of crash, crash code and crash channel assignments. For every crash present in the airbag project, crash channels are assigned to the sensors. Each sensor present has a crash channel assigned to it. This is called the crash channel assignment. An airbag application tool is developed to show the crash channel assignments. This tool should handle the information extraction, and visualization of crash channel assignments. The final output should be in a tabular format, which includes user specific customizations

Investigation of thermomechanical fatigue processes in power electronic packages with experiment and simulation
This work deals with the power cycling reliably of power modules
and discrete devices. A small part was tested with standard test equipment,
but the majority of devices were tested with an advanced test approach with
additional switching losses. A large variety of packages under different
conditions were tested: Discrete low-voltage silicon MOSFETs (<100 V),
discrete SiC MOSFETs, baseplate-free SiC modules, medium power silicon
modules and high power silicon modules. The core of the work is the
investigation of low temperature swings in the transition between elastic and
plastic deformation. During high operation temperatures, no significant
increase in lifetime was observed, but at reduced junction temperatures, the
impact was significant. All experimental results were transferred into a 3D
simulation environment, for further investigation of the temperature and
current distribution as well as the mechanical fatigue parameters, to allow a
better understanding of the physical processes
