Research with Japanese Student Tutors from Fall 2024
This paper reports the research with Japanese student tutors for international students at Mie University in the Fall semester in 2024. The research utilized data from the student tutors’ reports and that from a survey conducted with the student tutors. The outcome indicated that most Japanese student tutors were heling for international students’ daily lives, rather than for the international students’ studies. Also, Japanese student tutors found benefits from their communications with international students; benefits such as gaining intercultural experiences, getting interested in foreign cultures and languages, noticing differences of their own language (Japanese) from other languages, and so forth. However, the survey results detected some tutors who had problems in their relationships with international students. In order to solve this problem, the Center for International Education and Research, Mie University, might need to consider the genders of a tutor and an international student when matching them.departmental bulletin pape
Error Factors for Writability in Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording
We analyze the error factors, namely erasure-before-write (EBW), erasure-after-write (EAW), Curie temperature Tc variation, write-error (WE), statistical factor, and anisotropy constant, for writability in heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) employing a stochastic calculation. We separate the bit error rate bER for each grain column in 2 bits of data. We focus on the mean magnetization reversal numbers per unit time N- and N+ for the magnetization reversal in the recording direction and in the opposite direction to the recording direction, respectively, and the medium writing time τmed, which is a time where the N- value is large during writing. EBW and EAW are related to the Tc variation through the N- value. WE can be improved by increasing the N- and τmed values and reducing the N+ value. The increase in the grain number per bit is advantageous for reducing the bER value in terms of the statistical factor. The τmed value is increased and the N+ value is reduced by reducing the anisotropy constant. However, EAW increases due to the long τmed value. Since the influence of EAW is large in HAMR, we may not reduce the anisotropy constant in HAMR as is possible in heated-dot magnetic recording.journal articl

Prognostic impact of the distance from the anterior surface to tumor cells in pancreatoduodenectomy with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
三重大学博士(医学)application/pdfPurpose: Several reports have shown the importance of margins in pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) specimens; however, whether anterior surfaces are included as margins varies among reports. In this study, we aimed to examine the impact of the anterior surface on disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).
Method: In total, 98 patients who underwent PD after chemoradiotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma at Mie University Hospital between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2019, were included. We investigated the prognostic impact of the distance from the anterior surface to tumor cells on DFS and OS using a log-rank test. Multivariate analysis was performed using Cox proportional hazards analysis.
Results: A significant difference in DFS and OS was observed up to a distance of 5 mm from the anterior surface of tumor cells. The multivariate analysis revealed that the distance from the anterior surface to tumor cells (≤5 mm) was an independent poor prognostic factor for DFS and OS.
Conclusion: In patients with PD treated with neoadjuvant therapy, the distance from the anterior surface to tumor cells is an important assessment and should be included in the pathology report.本文 / Department of Oncologic Pathology, Mie University Graduate School of Medicine11pdoctoral thesi
