An antipodal vivaldi antenna design for torso imaging in a coupling medium
NSPEC Accession Number: 20591604An antipodal Vivaldi antenna designed to operate in a coupling medium with a relative dielectric constant of epsilon(r) = 25 for microwave imaging of torso is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is similar to the conventional antipodal Vivaldi antenna but with optimized parameters to radiate in the desired coupling medium. The antenna has a size of 120x70 mm(2) and operating over 230-1000 MHz frequency bandwidth with a peak gain of 5.42 dBi and peak front-to-back ratio of 143 dB. The designed antenna shows a better performance compared to other antennas used for microwave torso imaging. To assess the actual performance, a realistic human torso phantom is implemented to detect the water accumulation in the lungs, and as the inversion method linear sampling method is used. The 3-D reconstruction results show that the proposed antenna can be a candidate for microwave torso imaging applications.WOS:0006726998005332-s2.0-85105486278Conference Proceedings Citation Index- ScienceArticle; Proceedings PaperUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılmayan - HAYIRMarchYÖK - 2020-2

Extracting, computing, coordination: what does a triphasic ERP pattern say about language processing?
The current study aims at contributing to the interpretation of the most prominent language-related ERP effects, N400 and P600, by investigating how neural responses to congruent and incongruent sentence endings vary, when the language processor processes the full array of the lexico-syntactic content in verbs with three affixes in canonical Turkish sentences. The ERP signals in response to three different violation conditions reveal a similar triphasic (P200/N400/P600) pattern resembling in topography and peak amplitude The P200 wave is interpreted as the extraction of meaning from written.form by generating a code which triggers the computation of neuronal ensembles in the distributed LTM (N400). The P600 potential reflects the widely distributed coordination process of activated neuronal patterns of semantic and morphosyntactic cues by connecting the generated subsets of these patterns and adapting them into the current context. It further can be deduced that these ERP components reflect cognitive rather than linguistic processes. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.WOS:0007225387000012-s2.0-85120815934Science Citation Index Expanded - Social Sciences Citation IndexArticle; Early AccessUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılmayan - HAYIRNovemberYÖK - 2021-22Kası
What goes around comes around: The loop of physical teen dating violence perpetration among Turkish adolescents
Compared to Western literature, little is known about teen dating violence perpetration (DVP) in Turkey. One risk factor of physical teen DVP may lie within teens' witnessing interparental physical violence perpetration and subsequent accepting attitudes toward physical partner violence as a risk factor. Informed by the intergenerational transmission (IGT) of violence theory, we investigated attitudes toward physical partner violence as a likely mechanism that might account for the association between witnessing interparental physical violence perpetration and physical teen DVP. In a sample of 242 Turkish teens, the prevalence of teen DVP was 32.0% for females and 28.4% for males, with no significant gender difference. The results of the moderated mediation analyses confirmed the hypothesized model for men only. IGT of violence theory offers good guidance in understanding the etiology of physical teen DVP. For prevention practices, accepting attitudes toward physical partner violence seems a hurdle that needs to be breached.WOS:0007472150000062-s2.0-8512338868034783148Book Citation Index- Social Sciences and Humanities - Social Sciences Citation IndexArticle; Book ChapterUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılmayan - HAYIRYÖK - 2021-22Şuba
Data repair-efficient fault tolerance for cellular networks using LDPC codes
The base station-mobile device communication traffic has dramatically increased recently due to mobile data, which in turn heavily overloaded the underlying infrastructure. To decrease Base Station (BS) interaction, intra-cell communication between local devices, known as Device-to-Device, is utilized for distributed data caching. Nevertheless, due to the continuous departure of existing nodes and the arrival of newcomers, the missing cached data may lead to permanent data loss. In this study, we propose and analyze a class of LDPC codes for distributed data caching in cellular networks. Contrary to traditional distributed storage, a novel repair algorithm for LDPC codes is proposed which is designed to exploit the minimal direct BS communication. To assess the versatility of LDPC codes and establish performance comparisons to classic coding techniques, novel theoretical and experimental evaluations are derived. Essentially, the theoretical/numerical results for repair bandwidth cost in presence of BS are presented in a distributed caching setting. Accordingly, when the gap between the cost of downloading a symbol from BS and from other local network nodes is not dramatically high, we demonstrate that LDPC codes can be considered as a viable fault-tolerance alternative in cellular systems with caching capabilities for both low and high code rates.WOS:0007427315000062-s2.0-85119627137Science Citation Index ExpandedArticleUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılmayan - HAYIRNisanYÖK - 2021-2
Investigation of the factors affecting the stress level with GSR (Skin Conductivity) when applying the daily course of teachers who work in a private school
Corporate social responsibility communication of banks in the first days of the Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey
The purpose of this study is to examine corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication and the ways
the pandemic changed CSR communication of banks on social media at the beginning of the COVID-19
pandemic in Turkey. A content analysis was made on the Facebook accounts of the biggest public, private,
and foreign-owned retail banks in Turkey. The findings have shown that banks have increased their overall
and health-related CSR communication during the pandemic. Besides, it was found that each bank had its
unique CSR approach and shifted its CSR activities online. Messages with CSR content got a higher number
of consumer comments than non-CSR messages. Customer interaction levels differed significantly among
messages that included different CSR content such as health and society. This study reflects Turkish banks’
CSR communication on social media, presents comparative results for crisis and non-crisis periods, and
provides analysis results about CSR communication during the pandemic. Besides, it is among the first
studies that examine the financial institutions’ social media marketing communication related to the
COVID-19 pandemic. The findings of this study may help marketing managers in designing their marketing
strategies in crisis times

Assessment of the measurement and prediction Methods for the acoustic properties of natural fiber samples and evaluation of their properties
Although some studies have been conducted to show how natural fibers can
replace synthetic materials, the use of many natural fibers is still limited. On
the other hand, the use of natural fibers can become very common in many
applications once their performance is fully understood. This paper aims to
present a critical assessment of the acoustic properties of natural fiber
samples. First, the methods commonly used for the measurement and prediction of the acoustic properties of natural fiber samples are determined.
Second, the common techniques for measuring sound absorption coefficients (SACs) and sound transmission losses (STLs) are presented, and their
advantages and limitations are evaluated. After that, the models commonly
used for the prediction of acoustic properties are presented. Then, the SACs
of many natural fiber samples are presented along with the thickness, bulk
density and flow resistivity of the samples. Furthermore, the SACs of the
samples are normalized using sample thickness and bulk density, and the
sound absorption performance of the fiber samples is evaluated. Based on
the results of many natural fiber samples, an empirical model for estimating
the SACs of natural fiber samples is presented. Finally, the STLs of some
porous natural fiber samples are presented.TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) under Grant
