Peer persuasion strategies during rule following in 4-to 6-year-olds
Despite being a ubiquitous form of communication, persuasive communication between children received relatively scant research attention. We used a novel approach to study children's persuasive interactions in a semi-naturalistic paradigm where dyads of 4- to 6-year-old children were asked to follow a rule together. In this context, we observed (a) the frequency and types of strategies children spontaneously used to persuade their partners to abide by the rule, (b) compliance behavior following the persuasion attempt, and (c) strategy change following a failed attempt to persuade. We coded children's persuasive strategies as gentle control, negative control, and non-engagement. Children tended to use gentle control and negative control strategies to a greater extent than non-engagement strategies to prevent their partner's potential rule violation. However, after a violation occurred, children most frequently displayed non-engagement. Gentle control brought about more compliance than the other strategies. Children tended to maintain their persuasive strategy of negative control and non-engagement, even though these were mostly ineffective in achieving compliance. These results show that 4- to 6-year-old children spontaneously and flexibly utilized persuasive strategies with peers to abide by a rule.WOS:0006716183000012-s2.0-85109420965Social Sciences Citation IndexArticleUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılmayan - HAYIRJulyYÖK - 2020-2
Examination of the construction works of a highway project with project management techniques in terms of cost and time
Adaptive human force scaling via admittance control for physical human-robot interaction
The goal of this article is to design an admittance controller for a robot to adaptively change its contribution to a collaborative manipulation task executed with a human partner to improve the task performance. This has been achieved by adaptive scaling of human force based on her/his movement intention while paying attention to the requirements of different task phases. In our approach, movement intentions of human are estimated from measured human force and velocity of manipulated object, and converted to a quantitative value using a fuzzy logic scheme. This value is then utilized as a variable gain in an admittance controller to adaptively adjust the contribution of robot to the task without changing the admittance time constant. We demonstrate the benefits of the proposed approach by a pHRI experiment utilizing Fitts’ reaching movement task. The results of the experiment show that there is a) an optimum admittance time constant maximizing the human force amplification and b) a desirable admittance gain profile which leads to a more effective co-manipulation in terms of overall task performance.WOS:0007311469000062-s2.0-8510388389633826517ArticleUluslararası işbirliği ile yapılan - EVETOctoberYÖK - 2021-22Eki
Online advertising has a great potential to boost business’ revenue. One of the key metrics that defines the success of online ad campaigns is click through rate (CTR) which indicates the total number of clicks received in relation to the total impression. Therefore, the click prediction systems, which have the aim of increasing the click through rates of online advertising campaigns by predicting the clicks, have become essential for businesses. For this reason, predicting whether an advertisement will receive a click from
the user or not attracts the attention of researchers from the both industry and academia. In this capstone project, the click prediction is studied by using Avazu’s click logs dataset. The effects of having high cardinality categorical features and imbalanced data are examined during data preprocessing phase and then relevant features are selected to be used in modeling. The methods that are used for this classification problem are decision trees, random forest, k-nearest neighbor, extreme gradient boosting, and logistic regression. According to the results of the study, extreme gradient boosting shows the best performance
Conclusion : What We Found and What We Recommend
This interdisciplinary volume examines how nine arid or semi-arid river basins with thriving irrigated agriculture are doing now and how they may change between now and mid-century. The rivers studied are the Colorado, Euphrates-Tigris, Jucar, Limarí, Murray-Darling, Nile, Rio Grande, São Francisco, and Yellow. Engineered dams and distribution networks brought large benefits to farmers and cities, but now the water systems face multiple challenges, above all climate change, reservoir siltation, and decreased water flows. Unchecked, they will see reduced food production and endanger the economic livelihood of basin populations
Culturally shared and unique meanings and expressions of maternal control across four cultures
Maternal control is a major dimension of parenting and has different meanings, practices, and potential consequences across cultures. The present study aimed to identify and compare mothers' conceptualizations of parenting control across four cultures to reveal a more nuanced understanding regarding the meaning and practices of control: European American, Chinese immigrant, Korean immigrant, and Turkish. Using a semistructured open-ended interview, 100 European American, 102 U.S. Chinese immigrant, 103 U.S. Korean immigrant, and 109 Turkish mothers of preschool-aged children reported the ratings of importance, specific reasons, and strategies for exerting control over their children in daily life. Results revealed both shared and unique conceptualizations of maternal control across four cultures. Specifically, all mothers reported that it is important to express maternal control over their children in order to set behavioral norms/standards, maintain child safety, support social relations and respect for others, provide guidance, and guide moral development. Moreover, mothers discussed utilizing nonphysical punishment, setting and maintaining rules, reasoning/negotiating, consistency, physical punishment and verbal control, showing parents' serious/stern attitude, correction, and psychological control forms of control. However, the levels at which mothers emphasize the different reasons and strategies varied across cultures, reflecting culturally emphasized values. The findings of the present study further enrich our understanding of the complexities of maternal control across cultures. Farklı veri kaynakları ile organik trafik tahmini
In this project, the results are compared using different data sets for the organic traffic forecasting of a website. Two different models were developed based on the data obtained from Google Search Console (GSC), Google Analytics (GA), Ahrefs and Google Trends and trained with XGBoost and Random Forest machine learning algorithms. Although the .. value and accuracy rate of the first model developed on the GSC, GA and Ahrefs data obtained between 2019-2020 was high; it is not suitable for predictive analysis because the data sets consist of dependent variables. The second model was developed with Google Trends data for brand and non-brand queries with the highest Impression value. The future trends of the relevant queries were predicted using the Prophet algorithm. Through this model, Impression values of the relevant website were estimated for the remainder of 2021
Kullanılmış araba bilgileri üzerinden büyük veri analitiği
In this research, a decision support system is implemented on a used car dataset. The main purpose is to predict the price information and reveal the related features. The price prediction problem is classified as a regression problem. The key point is to find the best-fitting model and obtain the best accurate prediction outcomes. Should we buy this car, or at what price may I sell my car? This work is about to answer these questions. Various regression models are compared, and detailed results are explained correspondingly.
The constructed models will help customers to know about their car price and salability. And they can identify the buying opportunities. The percentage error approach which is detailed in the results section will be a guideline for customers/firms to make a market analysis or detect fraudulent listing information
