Knowledge Management Initiatives, Applications and Best Practices at IBM and UNDP: An Analytical Case Study.
This paper examines the knowledge management (KM) initiatives, applications
and best practices at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The case concludes by examining the challenges IBM faced in its KM journey. On the other hand the case examines Solution Exchange (SE), the knowledge management (KM) initiative of the UNDP. SE initiative in India and analyzes its benefits and It ends with a discussion on the challenges faced by UNDP to scale-up the SE initiative
Semantic Web Ontology Model for Indian Agricultural Domain
Creating ontologies is a difficult and time-consuming process that involves
specialists from several fields. Also, when concepts involve in diversely linked with other domains, it becomes more difficult to draw any quick conclusion about the information, fact finding, and data; available in the form of unstructured, unformatted and logically unrelated. Making all these into unique format as, reusable, validated, workable, and sharable instances of object requires lot of preprocessing job is to be done to execute an event
successfully. Development and extraction of ontologies for agricultural domain in the form of functional, reusable, and sharable format to benefit larger section of the society in India, is a challenging task. This paper proposes an - Ontological Model for Indian Agricultural domain highlighting the auto extraction of its web resource using semantic web technology

Awareness about and Use of Internet at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore:A Sample Survey.
Internet plays a vital and viable role to cater to the needs of information
seekers in the process of advancement of society in present environment. This paper Studies about the Use and Awareness of Internet at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. The objective of this study is to demonstrates and elaborates the different factors such as of Internet usage, awareness about Internet services, favorite search engines, constraints faced by the users in surfing the Internet, various purpose for using Internet, and satisfaction of adequate infrastructure facilities provided to use the Internet
Building of Medical Ontology for Management of Cystic Fibrosis Specific Lung Infection
Ontology, a technique for conceptualization of a domain finds its highest
application in the field of medicine, wherein the concentration is mainly on representation and re-organisation of its medical terminologies. Ontological framework can be constructed for Communicable, Non-communicable and Genetic diseases thereby representing its associated symptoms, tests and treatment along with their properties and relationships in a fashion that is readable by both human and machine. Though there are many genetic
diseases viz. Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle cell anemia, Thalassaemia which would benefit hugely from Ontology, this paper mainly focuses on formulation of domain ontology for Cystic Fibrosis associated with lung pathology. The subclasses of lungs, its associated symptoms, tests and treatment are drawn from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation data to help build the ontological framework which is implemented online using the Protégé 4.1 and OWL DL
syntaxes. Further, ontological framework of any other lung specific diseases could be integrated to the ontological framework built
Trend of research on ontology: a study based on ProQuest and DART
Ontology is a broad term including a wide range of activities. It plays an
important role in semantic web applications. This study is based on published Doctoral ETDs (Electronic Thesis and Dissertations) on ontology retrieved from two major ETD repositories ProQuest and DART. There were overall 2634 theses and dissertations in ProQuest and DART on ontology during last 10 years, from2003-2012. In ProQuest, majority of the theses are contributed by United States. There are theses on ontology in more than 20 variety languages. Regarding the productivity of institutions Tsinghai University is found to be the most productive Research institute involved on ontology research with reference to the ProQuest database. In DART, University of Southampton is
the most productive research institute. Keyword analysis shows that the most prominent keywords are Ontology, Metaphysics, Semantic Web, Phenomenology and Artificial Intelligence
