Novel 600 V Low Reverse Recovery Loss Vertical PiN Diode with Hole Pockets by Bosch Deep Trench

A novel 600 V vertical PiN diode with hole pockets by the Bosch deep trench process is proposed for a better trade-off curve between reverse recovery loss and forward voltage. The reverse recovery loss is reduced to a half. In addition, the active chip size of the novel diode is reduced to two-thirds that of the conventional PiN diode in the same forward voltage. The novel diode structure is a strong candidate when the simple fabrication process under development is established
Analysis of Thermal Demagnetization Behavior of Nd–Fe–B Sintered Magnets Using Magnetic Domain Observation
We used magnetic domain observation to statistically observe the thermal demagnetization behavior of Nd–Fe–B sinteredmagnets at elevated temperatures up to 150 °C. Simultaneous magnetization reversal in a hundred adjacent grains occurred at 90 °C because of the magnetic interaction among the grains beyond grain boundaries in the Dysprosium (Dy)-free low-coercivity magnet. Conversely, simultaneous magnetization reversal in a hundred grains did not occur in the Dy-added high-coercivity magnets, and the demagnetizing ratio steadily increased with temperature. Furthermore, the addition of Dy induced high thermal stability by eliminating the simultaneous thermal demagnetization, which was caused by the magnetic interaction among the grains

Diagnosis of Periodontal Disease from Saliva Samples Using Fourier Transform Infrared Microscopy Coupled with Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis
Diagnosis of periodontal disease by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) microscopic technique was achieved for saliva samples. Twenty-two saliva samples, collected from 10 patients with periodontal disease and 12 normal volunteers, were pre-processed and analyzed by FT-IR microscopy. We found that the periodontal samples showed a larger raw IR spectrum than the control samples. In addition, the shape of the second derivative spectrum was clearly different between the periodontal and control samples. Furthermore, the amount of saliva content and the mixture ratio were different between the two samples. Partial least squares discriminant analysis was used for the discrimination of periodontal samples based on the second derivative spectrum. The leave-one-out cross-validation discrimination accuracy was 94.3%. Thus, these results show that periodontal disease may be diagnosed by analyzing saliva samples with FT-IR microscopy
