    Frequency Control of Power System with Solar and Wind Power Stations by Using Frequency Band Control and Deadband Control of HVDC Interconnection Line

    In recent years, environmental problems are becoming serious and renewable energy has attracted attention as their solutions. However, the electricity generation using the renewable energy has a demerit that the output becomes unstable because of intermittent characteristics, such as variations of wind speed or solar radiation intensity. Frequency fluctuations due to the installation of large scale wind farm (WF) and photovoltaics (PV) into the power system is a major concern. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes two control methods using High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) interconnection line to suppress the frequency fluctuations due to large scale of WF and PV. Comparative analysis between these two control methods is presented in this paper. One proposed method is a frequency control using a notch filter, and the other is using a deadband. Validity of the proposed methods is verified through simulation analyses, which is performed on a multi-machine power system model.journal articl

    SCALE MODEL EXPERIMENT ON INFLUENCE OF EARTHQUAKE MOTION ON COLLAPSE BEHAVIOR OF LEVEE WITH RISING RIVER WATER LEVEL

    In recent years, damage to levees due to floods after the earthquake has been reported. However, there are few studies on the relevance between the magnitude of the earthquake and the level of the embankment during the flood. In this study, a scale model experiment was conducted to clarify the influence of the difference in maximum acceleration on the rising behavior of the water level in the levee and to clarify the penetration collapse behavior. Based on the experimental results, the permeability of levee varied depending on the magnitude of maximum acceleration. In addition, the amount of embankment deformation due to aftershocks may be affected by changes in permeability due to the main shock.journal articl

    THE EFFECT OF BRANCHED CHANNEL MAINTENANCE ON RIVER CHANNEL EVOLUTION DURING FLOODS

    河道内が樹林化した札内川において,撹乱誘発による礫河原の再生を目的として,樹林内に残る旧流路への接続掘削による分岐流路の維持に取り組んでいる.そのような中で,2016年8月に既往最大規模の出水が発生した.出水による河道内の変化状況から,旧流路への接続掘削による分岐流路の維持は,出水時の礫河原再生に効果的であることが示された.また,河道中央部への分岐流路の維持により,分岐流路での河床変動を促し,出水時の堤防方向への侵食を抑制する効果が期待できることを河床変動計算により示した.さらに,水面比高差拡大による撹乱頻度の低下に伴う早期の再樹林化,側岸侵食の進行による堤防決壊リスク増加という新たな課題に対しても,早瀬区間における礫河原への分岐流路掘削により,礫河原の撹乱更新及び側岸侵食軽減の効果が期待できることを示した.The river channel of Satsunai River is currently covered with forest, and we have been aiming to regenerate its gravel bar through induction of disturbances. In order to do so, we have been excavating to maintain the branched channel by connecting it to the old watercourse left in the forest. It was under such circumstance that the largest flood in history occurred in August, 2016. The changes in the river channel during the flood has proven that maintenance of the branched channel by excavating to connect it to the old watercourse is effective in promoting regeneration of the gravel bar during floods. Furthermore, by calculating the changes in the riverbed, we demonstrated that maintaining branched channel to the center of the river channel could promote riverbed change in the branched channel, which can be expected to suppress erosion towards the embankments during the flood. Additionally, in terms of coping methods to new challenges such as early regeneration of vegetation due to decline in the frequency of disturbances caused by growth of the relative height difference of water surfaces, and the increased risk of river bank failure due to increased erosion of the embankments, we also demonstrated that digging branched channel to the gravel bar in the riffle area can be expected to renew disturbances in the gravel bar, and reduce erosion of the embankments.journal articl

    EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE FORMATION OF SAND BAR BY PARTIAL RIVER WIDENING

    魚類の産卵生息場として,流速が遅く水深が深いalcoveと呼ばれる地形がある.本研究では,中規模河床形態の単列砂州領域の河道において,川幅の部分拡幅によって単列砂州発生領域における河道内の砂州の変化を知ることを目的に,移動床による水路実験を実施した.そして,形成された河床地形の平面二次元流況解析による水深および流速の分布から,alcove形状形成の有無を確認した.その結果,拡幅により強制砂州が形成され,それに侵入する自由砂州の移動速度が遅くなることが示された.しかし,水路幅に対する拡幅延長が5倍程度では,自由砂州の移動速度は強制砂州の影響を受けなかった.また,水路幅に対する拡幅延長が10倍程度では,流量低下後にalcove地形が形成されることが示唆された.In this study, in the river channel of the hydraulic environment belonging to the formation area of double-row bar for meso-scale bed configurations, movable bed experiments aimed at investigating the formation of sediment accumulation caused by partial widening to form alcove was carried out. As a result, it became clear that the shape of the sandbar is different depending on the length of the widened part. In the case of the length of the widened part about 5 times the width of the channel, it was confirmed that even if free bar entered the forced bar, it did not affect the flowing down of the free bar. On the other hand, in the case of the length of the widened part about 10 times, the possibility that the alcove topography is formed along the river bank after the flow rate reduction was suggested.journal articl

    INFLUENCE OF SEDIMENT DYNAMICS IN RIVER CHANNEL ON THE CHANNEL CHANGE

    急流河川において出水時の流路変動による大規模な側岸侵食は深刻な災害を引き起こす.本研究では,出水時の土砂動態と大規模侵食を誘発する流路変動の関係を把握することを目的とし,特に河道内の土砂動態と流路変動との関連性を検討した.ペケレベツ川と音更川の出水時の河道内土砂収支を整理し,側岸からの流出土砂が供給源となり河道内へ堆積することで側岸侵食が拡大した可能性を示した.また,側岸からの流出土砂量の違いが流路変動へ与える影響を実験的に検討し,側岸から流出する土砂が直下流の砂州の外岸側への拡大に寄与することで大規模侵食を誘発する流路変動の要因となり得ることを示した.Large-scale bank erosion caused by channel change during flood often causes serious disasters in gravel bed rivers. In this study, we focused on the influence of sediment dynamics in river channel on the channel change inducing bank erosion. From the results of sediment balance in the Pekerebetsu River and the Otofuke River during a flood, we showed the possibility that sediment supply from the bank affect stream channel change to expand bank erosion in the river. We carried out the experiments on the influence of sediment supply from the bank on the channel change, and showed that sediment supply from the bank can be a cause of channel change inducing large-scale bank erosion.journal articl

    EXPERIMENTS ON SEDIMENTATION PROCESS OF SUSPENDED LOAD AT FLOOD PLAIN AND VEGETATION AREA IN A STEEP CHANNEL

    To grasp the behavior of fine grain sand is important in order to elucidate the process of expanding vegetation growth area in gravel bed rivers. However, the sedimentation process of suspended load especially in steep gravel bed rivers has not yet been sufficiently studied because of the small influence of fine grain sand on the shape of the river. In this study, we report the data of the pa1ticle size distribution change on the flood plains during an artificial flood in the Satsunai River, and carried out the experiments on the sedimentation process of suspended load at the flood plain and vegetation area in a steep channel. It was found that the vegetation effect to deposition of suspended sediment was limited, as the effect was shown only until reaching the dynamic equilibrium state in our experiments.journal articl
