〈Original Papers〉Examination of Factors Related to University Life Satisfaction for Students
No full textpublisher専攻: 学習心理学(Abstract) The purpose of the present study was to examine factors related to university life satisfaction for students, and specifically to identify social skills related to satisfaction with peer relationships. Participants included 352 university students in their freshman or sophomore year that responded to a questionnaire. The results show that satisfaction with peer relationships is strongly related to more general university life satisfaction. It is also found that social skills required for initiating or maintaining relationships are associated with satisfaction with peer relationships. However, students with greater social skills in emotion regulation and interpreting other's perspectives are less likely to feel satisfaction with peer relationships. Further research with more advanced students is needed to extend these findings. The eventual goal is to develop effective intervention programs to promote student adjustment to university life

(2)また, 世界的な貿易・金融環境の変化などの外的ショックに弱い経済構造を抱えている. 新興国の政策実施環境（政策インフラ）の整備が急がれる. 第一に, 金融市場をはじめとした諸市場の育成・成熟化を促進する必要がある. 第二に, 政策決定過程と政策分担に関わる制度の整備を進め, 種々の経済政策間の整合性を保つ必要がある. 第三に, 外貨準備の適正な管理と利用に努め, 適切な為替政策を保つ努力が必要だ. 最後に, 有力新興国も巻き込んだ新たな国際協調の体制整備が必要である. 研究成果の概要（英文): Comparing to developed countries, emerging economies attain higher economic growth but suffer from high volatility. The same goes for their current accounts. In addition, they suffer from exogenous shocks such as sudden change of world trade flows or disturbance in international financial markets. Therefore, building the good configuration of policy implementation, or policy infrastructure, should be a priority to safeguard their economic development. In so doing, first, we should foster markets, including financial markets, and promote their maturation. Second, we should create appropriate institutional arrangement in policy decision-making and make sure the existence of good division of labor between different policies. Third, we should maintain proper management of foreign reserves and exchange rate policy. Finally, we should create new framework of international macroeconomic policy coordination which involves major emerging countries

In addition, the instillation of the ophthalmic dispersions containing CLZ nanoparticles suppresses retinal vasoconstriction in endothelin-1-injected rats. It is possible that an ocular drug delivery system using drug nanoparticles may expand their usage as therapy in the glaucoma patient

No full textpublisher[Abstract] A quadratic irrational is an irrational root of a quadratic polynomial with integer coefficients. Lagrange's theorem on continued fractions is as follows : any positive quadratic irrational has an eventually repeating continued fraction. A short proof of Lagrange's theorem is presented. Let D be a positive integer which is not a square, and p_i/q_i be the irreducible fraction of i-th convergent of √<D. We put P_i = p_i−1^ 2−Dq_i−1^2 and show that the sequence {|P_i|} is repeating and palindromic
〈Review〉 Bone anabolic action of parathyroid hormone
No full textpublisher[Abstract] Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a potent bone-forming agent that increases bone mineral density and reduces fracture risk in osteoporotic patients. Although several studies suggest that the anabolic action of PTH is exerted partly through local growth factors and transcriptional regulators as well as by anti-apoptotic action in osteoblasts, the precise mechanisms by which PTH exerts its anabolic action on bone are incompletely understood. We demonstrated that PTH rapidly increases the level of Smad3, and that PTH-Smad3 signal is involved in antiapoptotic effects in osteoblasts. Moreover, PTH stimulated osteoblast β-catenin levels via Smad3 in osteoblastic cells. Our further study indicated that PTH induces osteoblast β- catenin levels via Smad3 independently of, and dependently on, TGF-β in the early and late induction phases, respectively. In addition, we previously showed that inhibition of ERK1/2 enhanced Smad3-induced bone anabolic action in osteoblasts. These findings suggested that changes in gene expression associated with the altered Smad3-induced signal brought about by an ERK1/2 inhibitor might identify novel bone anabolic factors in osteoblasts. We therefore performed a comparative DNA microarray analysis between empty vector-transfected mouse osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells and ERK1/2 inhibitor-treated stable Smad3-overexpressing MC3T3-E1 cells. Among the novel factors, Tmem119 was selected on the basis of its rapid induction by PTH independent of later increases in endogenous TGF-β. Tmem119 seemed to be an important osteoblast differentiation factor in the pathway downstream of PTH and Smad3 signal in osteoblasts
