    Biomimetic control architecture for robotic cooperative tasks

    This article proposes some control algorithms to be applied to the MIROSOT robot league architecture. The MIROSOT league soccer game concept is fairly simple: two teams of robots, with 3–5 robots per side, play football autonomously. The ball that the teams play with is an orange golf ball. Above the pitch is a machine vision camera running at 60 frames per second. This camera is linked to a server, which calculates the positions and velocities of each of the robots and the ball, and then determines what each robot should be doing. These instructions are then communicated to the robots over wireless links. In order to develop an efficient control strategy and architecture, the robots have to use strategies from the real human soccer game. Using the software Simi Scout, a suitable analysis of tactics can be extracted from the games. After analyzing the soccer game, a number of attributes are specified and then embedded at different levels. The specified attributes are interconnected, and the analysis of the game is processed for optimization. Using this information, the robot program is adapted and experimental tests/games are played. We comment on the results, and propose an improved control architecture based on practical results

Several intrusion detection approaches exist to tackle this critical issue but the problem is which one is more suitable in the field of intrusion. Further, these approaches are used in intrusion detection systems. Therefore, in this paper, we evaluated them so that a suitable approach may be advised to intrusion detection systems. This work describes the concepts, tool and methodology being used for evaluation analysis of different intrusion detection approaches using multi-criteria decision making technique. Moreover, conclusion on results is made and direction for future works is presented

    Enhancing C4I security using Intrusion Detection and prevention system

    Command, control, communication, computer and intelligence (C4I) systems are complex distributed information systems which enable the friendly forces to achieve information superiority and situation awareness in battlefield .C4I systems fully exploit the power of latest information technologies e.g. computers, satellite and terrestrial communications , mobile and ad hoc network (MANET), wireless sensor networks and weapon systems. This increases dependence of C4I systems on information the values of information systems as military target. C4I systems are susceptible to all types of security attacks and threat, the attacks on C4I systems are more sever and intense because of different reasons. Intrusion detection is the process of monitoring of computer systems or networks which violates the security policies while intrusion prevention is the process of detecting and stopping the potential threats or attacks. This paper focuses on C4I security threats and how intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) strengthen network centric C4I security? The papers also formulate a cooperative and distributed IDPS approach which address various inherent complexities of C4I systems

    Invariant Image Retrieval - An Approach Based on Multiple Representations and Multiple Queries

    We present an approach based on multiple representations and multiple queries to tackle the problem of invariance in the framework of content-based image retrieval. We consider the case of textures. This approach, rather than to consider invariance at the representation level, considers it at the query level. We use two models to represent the visual content of textures, namely the autoregressive model and a perceptual model based on a set of perceptual features. The perceptual model is used with two viewpoints: the original image’s viewpoint and the auto covariance function viewpoint. After a brief presentation and discussion of these multiple representation models/viewpoints, we present the invariant texture retrieval algorithm. This algorithm considers results fusion (merging) at two different levels: 1. The first level consists in merging results returned by different models/viewpoints (representations) for the same query in one results list using a linear results fusion model; 2. The second level consists in merging each fused list of different queries into a unique fused list using a round robin fusion scheme. Experimental retrieval results and benchmarking based on the precision/recall measures applied on a large image database show interesting results

    QoS requirement in the Multimedia Transcoding Service Selection Process

    QoS guarantee is crucial for delivering real-time multimedia over any type of network. This paper proposes QoS-aware multimedia service selection in a heterogeneous network environment. The QoS-aware service selection is based on the nature-inspired routing algorithm, AntNet. The performance evaluation for this selection algorithm is conducted on the multimedia content transcoding system. This paper presents and evaluates a real implementation of an ant-inspired selection algorithm in the university network environment for choosing multimedia transcoding services. From the test results, it is observed that an ant-inspired service selection algorithm outperforms the traditional shortest-path selection algorithm in terms of transcoding delay. In addition, we also compare the proposed algorithm with other algorithms through simulation, measure the performance, and find that the proposed algorithm achieves better QoS assurance

    An Extended Push to Multimedia Service for IP Multimedia Subsystem

    . Fixed Mobile Convergence and Service Delivery Platform allow us to create services independent from the network architecture. In this regard different architectural frameworks have been developed i.e. IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Push to Multimedia (PTM) is one of the main services provided by the IMS based Next Generation Networks (NGN). It is half duplex service that is controlled by a centralized server and allows the users to communicate by using push technology. Currently in PTM message sent by one user will be received by all the other members of the group. The sender has no authority to send its information to the selected members of the PTM group. This scenario limits the scope of the PTM in daily life and puts unnecessary load on the network. Moreover in PTM all the members of the group are allowed to send and receive all types of data i.e. audio, video, text (triple play). There is no mechanism to limit the rights of a user in a PTM session. This mechanism increases the network load and reduces the scalability. In this paper we proposed a new casting technique to deliver the information to selected users only. Moreover we also proposed a mechanism to allocate different rights to the members of the same group. This solution reduces the network load and results in efficient utilization of resources. Moreover this solution also increases the applicability of the PTM service in daily life. Scalability of the PTM group is also enhanced by the solution proposed in the paper
