Biogeographical Distribution and Phylogenetic Analysis of Simulium (Wallacellum) (Diptera: Simuliidae) Based on the Mitochondrial Sequences
No full textThe blackfly subgenus Wallacellum of genus Simulium (Diptera: Simuliidae) is a small subgenus, represented by 17 species, and distributed insularly in Southeast Asia. Phylognetic relationships among Wallacellum were surveyed using mitochondrial sequences of cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) regions. Combined with morphological data, Wallacellum was divided into three groups (A, B, C). The group A has ancestral characters and is distributed widely, whereas the group B has derivative characters and is distributed only in the central Philippines, suggesting that the group A is basal and might have been distributed widely in the early period, and then species radiation of the group B occurred in the center of the distribution of this subgenus. The interspecific and intraspecific divergence values were not overlapped both for the COI and 16S rRNA regions, indicating that both regions were effective to identify the species of Wallacellum

No full textブユはフィラリアなどの病原体を媒介することから医学的や獣医学的にも重要な吸血昆虫である。今回、大隅諸島でブユの媒介するフィラリアの調査を行った。屋久島でアカクラアシマダラブユ25匹、アシマダラブユ23匹、種子島ではアシマダラブユ7匹の雌成虫を採集した。それらを解剖したがフィラリアは見つからなかった。これまで南西諸島ではアシマダラブユが人吸血種とされていたが、屋久島ではアカクラアシマダラブユも重要であることがわかった

No full textキバアマガイはインド太平洋の潮間帯上部の岩礁域に広く分布する巻貝で、この仲間は白色の殻を持つものと殻表に黒点を示すタイプがあることが報告されている。この調査ではミクロネシア連邦ポンペイ州のポンペイ本島と近くの島において2014年8月に野外観察を行った。その結果、ポンペイで観察されたキバアマガイには3つの殻色（白色、一部縞模様、全部縞模様）のタイプが観察された。この多様性に影響するものとして遺伝的な要因と環境的な要因が考えられる

No full text野間岳は標高591mで薩摩半島の西南端に位置する。宮ノ登山口から野間岳山頂までの4回の調査で、82科222種（シダ植物9科26種、裸子植物5科5種、被子植物双子葉59科167種、被子植物単子葉9科24種）の植物を観察した。
タブノキが優占種であるが、山頂付近はアカガシも見られる。山頂付近に見られる植物は、シャリンバイ、イヌガシ、ハクサンボク、ネズミモチ、タイミンタチバナ、イワガラミ、ヤブツバキ、オオムラサキシキブ、コバンモチ、カンコノキ、ススキ、ナワシログミ、イヌザンショウ、ツルマサキ、クロガネモチ、コヤブラン、テイカカズラなどである。

No full text金峰山は、薩摩半島に位置し、標高636mである。山腹はスギやヒノキの植林が行われているが､山頂付近は自然林が残されており、タブノキが優占種となっている。山頂付近にはアカガシやリョウブ、マルバアオダモ、オンツツジ、ホウチャクソウ、サツマアオイが見られる。
4回の調査で、81科224種の植物（シダ植物10科24種、裸子植物4科5種、双子葉植物57科161種、単子葉植物10科34種）を観察できた。
