Lexicon of common philosophers
Leksykon wspólnych filozofów presentuje trzy grupy postaci związanych z życiem intelektualnym Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów i krajów powstałych na jej terenach. Do pierwszej grupy należą myśliciele kanoniczni. Drugą grupę tworzą mniej znani intelektualiści, których dzieła (często zachowne tylko w rękopisach), nauczanie szkolne, wypowiedzi publiczne oraz - last but not least - peregrynacje w naszym regionie i poza nim zasługują na uwagę badaczy. Wreszcie trzecia grupa gromadzi nie-filozofów o dużym znaczeniu dla historii filozofii: organizatorów życia intelektualnego, mecenasów szkół oraz polityków świeckich i kościelnych, którzy decydowali o faktycznym zakresie wolności filozofownia. Hasła informują o aktualnym stanie badań ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem prac polskich, litewskich, białoruskich i ukraińskich naukowców.The Lexicon of Common Philosophers presents three groups of people connected with the intellectual life of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the countries that emerged on its lands. The first group includes thinkers who are generally regarded as canonical. The second group consists of lesser-known intellectuals whose works (often preserved only in manuscript form), school teachings, public statements and, last but not least, migration routes in our region and beyond deserve the attention of researchers. Finally, the third group brings together non-philosophers of great importance for the history of philosophy: organisers of intellectual life, patrons of schools, and secular and ecclesiastical politicians who determined the real limits of philosophical freedom. The entries in the lexicon provide information on the current state of research, focusing on the work of Polish, Lithuanian, Belarusian and Ukrainian scholars
Founders and Heroes at Megara and Her "Colonies"
The article is focusing on the celebration of founders and tutelary heroes at Megara and her colonies from Sicily, Propontis and the Black Sea. These historical and heroic figures are mentioned as oikistai, ktistai, archegetai or hegemones by the ancient sources, and they participated to the foundation of Megarian "colonies" (apoikiai) or of settlements in the territory of these cities. Some of these heroes give their name to local rivers or appeared on the coins of the cities. The analysis aims to show the ways the Megarian heritage and cultic traditions were used in the apoikiai in order to create a new sacred landscape and new civic identities. The founders and several heroes of Megara are also investigated in this study in order to stress changes in the local religious beliefs

"The enlarged Mediterranean" as a strategic direction of Italian foreign and security policy
„The Enlarged Mediterranean” is a strategic and geopolitical concept expressing the extent of Italian national, economic and security interests in the near and distant Mediterranean. This area, encompassing the entire Mediterranean basin and the areas directly and indirectly adjacent to it (North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Near and Middle East, the Black Sea), has become a priority focus of Italian foreign and security policy for several years. Indeed, the country’s most vital political and economic interests are concentrated in this area: the security of maritime trade routes, an area for the exploitation and supply of energy resources and a region of action to counter illegal immigration and terrorism. The strategic importance of this region for Italian foreign, security and defense policy increased after the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. The significant increase in the region’s instability, with less interest from the EU, NATO and the US in the „southern flank”, has forced Italy to concentrate its efforts on Africa, a particularly sensitive area within the „enlarged Mediterranean”. Indeed, from the African continent come Italy’s most important security challenges: illegal immigration and energy security for the economy, as well as opportunities for economic expansion and the accentuation of its role as an international middle power. For this reason, Italy has become one of the main initiators and promoters of a new approach to cooperation with Africa (through the Mattei Plan for Africa”) and guarantors of security in the region. The aim of this article is to systematically analyze Italy’s foreign and se curity policy in the area of the „enlarged Mediterranean” and to illustrate, with the example of its specific involvement in the African area, its growing international role
