p-type graphitic carbon nitride with boron bridge atoms designed for photoelectrochemical conversion of CO2CO_2

Here, we report the results of studies dedicated to a synthesis of a series of graphitic carbon nitride materials doped with different amounts of boron, designed for photoelectrochemical conversion of CO2CO_{2}. The crystallographic structure of B-doped and pure heptazines was analyzed using XRD, while their chemical structure was analyzed using NMR, XAS, XPS, and FTIR spectroscopy. Based on of experimental spectra and DFT-based ones, we proved that boron in the polyheptazine structure is incorporated through the substitution of N atoms located only in bridge positions. The carbon nitride materials were also characterized in terms of their band structure based on the results of DRS spectroscopy, Mott-Schottky analysis, and DFT modelling. The experimental band gap energies and the decrease of band gap values resulting from the presence of boron bridge atoms were also confirmed by DFT calculations. The localization of valence and conduction bands indicates, along with p-type conductivity resulting from the presence of boron in these specific sites, that B-doped g-C3N4C_{3}N_{4} may be utilized for light-supported PEC conversion of CO2CO_{2}. Photoluminescence measurements demonstrate more effective charge separation and significantly longer charge carrier lifetime resulting from the incorporation of boron. Finally, photocurrent spectroscopy showed that the material containing 2.5 at. % of B (B1–CN) generates photocurrent of the highest intensity of − 0.99 μA in CO2CO_{2}-saturated 0.5 M KHCO3KHCO_{3}, making it the most promising one for photoelectrochemical conversion of CO2CO_{2}. The GC-MS/TCD analysis of syngas produced during photoelectrochemical CO2CO_{2} reduction confirmed the formation of H2H_{2} and CO

A balanced time perspective as a migraine-relieving factor

Pharmacological treatments for migraines are inadequate for a large proportion of sufferers because of intolerance to adverse events, dependence, or treatment resistance. The aim of this study was to examine the association of perceived stress and balanced time perspective (BTP) with migraine frequency, severity, and migraine-related disability. Participants (n = 91) were migraine patients diagnosed with migraines by a physician. They completed a set of questionnaires, including the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory, Carpe Diem Scale, Dark Future Scale, Migraine Disability Assessment Score questionnaire, and Perceived Stress Scale. They also underwent migraine diaries for 4 weeks. Moderation analyses were conducted for individual migraine indicators. BTP moderated the association between perceived stress and retrospectively assessed migraine frequency and migraine-related disability. No associations were found between BTP and migraine indicators recorded in the migraine diaries. The results indicate that BTP may act as a buffer, helping to mitigate the negative consequences of stress, particularly migraine pain. Moreover, the results suggest that time perspective may influence the perception and recollection of migraine symptoms. These findings highlight the importance of psychological flexibility and a positive temporal outlook in coping with migraines

The aunt who didn't take a husband

The article presents how old maids were perceived in folk culture. The author shows how cruel the stereotype of women was in that world. He emphasizes the freedom and liberty that young women had before they got married. He then moves on to describe the penalties for remaining unmarried. The whole is crowned with a description of an aunt - a single person, but also one who is respected for her altruistic passions and devotion to her family and loved ones
