The Palingenesis of Brownfields Through Nature. A comparative case analysis

    No full text
The research proposes a critical reflection on the self-regenerative potential of brownfields thanks to spontaneous rewilding, envisioning them as laboratories of experimentation capable of triggering alternative and adaptive forms of urban regeneration. Guided by the concepts of urban palingenesis, spontaneous ecologies and common goods, the contribution investigates how episodes of prolonged abandonment can cause unexpected processes of ecological rebirth and civic mobilization. A comparative analysis of three emblematic cases - Canvey Wick (UK), La Goccia (Italy) and Bullicante Lake (Italy) - shows how local communities, associations and informal actors can redefine landscapes, functions and values of brownfields. The comparison highlights a constant tension between top-down models of reclamation and bottom-up approaches of care and re-appropriation, suggesting a paradigmatic shift: moving from technical and standardised interventions to open, relational, multi-species and situated processes

Variation in pollinator assemblage along a Mediterranean urbanization gradient does not affect the reproductive output of the wild radish

    No full text
Land use affects plant–pollinator interactions, altering pollinator community composition and plant reproductive success. Rural–urban gradients offer useful models for assessing the effects of anthropogenic activity on these interactions. We surveyed pollinators and two plant reproductive traits (i.e., fruit and seed set) of Raphanus raphanistrum in a total of 18 populations located in three land cover classes (seminatural, agricultural and urban) defining a Mediterranean rural-urban gradient. We first built plant-pollinator networks and calculated the total number of pollinator visits, the relative contribution of different wild pollinator categories and that of wild vs. managed pollinators. Then, we estimated the contribution of pollinator functional traits in the three land cover classes. Lastly, we tested for an effect of pollinator assemblage and pollinator abundance on plant reproductive traits. Pollinator assemblage varied along the gradient and pollinator diversity was lower in urban areas. Honeybees contributed equally in agricultural areas whilst wild pollinators were predominant in urban and seminatural areas. In seminatural areas Syrphidae were more abundant. Pollinator functional traits varied along the gradient. The total number of pollinator visits was comparable along the gradient, explaining the similar levels of fruit and seed set. Our findings suggest that urbanization can alter pollinator assemblage by reducing pollinator diversity, but generalist plants might maintain stable reproductive success by leveraging a broad range of pollinator classes. This resilience underscores the potential for generalist species to persist in changing environments and highlights the need to monitor the functional integrity of pollination networks in the face of habitat transformation

Stato normativo diffuso e diritto penale. Spunti di riflessione sulle tensioni tra regola ed eccezione nella riformulazione dell’assetto fondante la divisione dei poteri. La teoria del doppio stato di Ernst Faenkel come metodo di lavoro

    No full text

Dazi e resilienza settoriale. Evidenze dal mercato azionario USA.

    No full text

IL-23 Inhibitors in Psoriasis: What Have We Learnt so Far?

    No full text
Interleukin-23 (IL-23) inhibitors represent a major advance in the management of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, grounded in the central pathogenic role of the IL-23/Th17 axis. By selectively targeting the p19 subunit, guselkumab, risankizumab, and tildrakizumab effectively suppress disease-driving inflammation while preserving IL-12-mediated host defence. Pivotal randomized trials have demonstrated high levels of skin clearance, durable efficacy, and favourable safety profiles. Nevertheless, such trials only partially reflect the heterogeneous and medically complex populations treated in everyday practice. Against this background, this narrative review focuses on the expanding body of real-world evidence, which has provided novel insights into the long-term durability, drug survival, performance in difficult-to-treat anatomical sites, and safety of IL-23 inhibitors in special and comorbid populations. Real-world studies consistently confirm high effectiveness in elderly patients, individuals with multiple comorbidities, and those with extensive prior biologic exposure, as well as in challenging disease localisations such as scalp, nails, palmoplantar, genital, and pretibial psoriasis. Across large observational cohorts, IL-23 inhibitors show excellent treatment persistence, largely driven by sustained efficacy and low rates of discontinuation for adverse events. Reassuring safety profiles have also been documented in patients with a history of malignancy, latent infections, or cardiometabolic disease, together with improvements in quality of life and systemic inflammatory burden. By integrating evidence from randomized trials with large real-world cohorts, this narrative review provides a clinically oriented synthesis of the efficacy, safety, and therapeutic positioning of IL-23 inhibitors in psoriasis. Although all three agents demonstrate high and durable effectiveness, real-world data suggest subtle intraclass differences, with guselkumab and risankizumab often achieving faster or deeper early responses, and tildrakizumab offering greater dosing flexibility with comparable long-term persistence in selected patient profiles. Overall, IL-23 blockade has evolved from a highly effective trial-based strategy into a versatile and reliable long-term therapeutic approach capable of addressing unmet needs in routine clinical practice

    Coconut Milk—chemistry and preservation methods

    No full text
Milk prepared from the meat of a fully grown coconut is whitish and milky. It is utilized all over the world in various food products. The milk prepared from coconut has good nutritional quality, and its rich flavor is attributed to its high fat content, which can also be the main cause for spoilage of the milk. Techniques like freezing, spray drying, pasteurization, fermentation, blanching, sterilization, UHT treatment, and canning might be used to prolong the shelf life of coconut milk. This chapter provides insight into the preparation of coconut milk, its physicochemical compositions, and techniques to effectively preserve this milk
