This research revisits the FDI-CO2 emissions nexus within the N-EKC framework in East African countries, while controlling for variables such as gross domestic product, the square of gross domestic product, the cubic form of gross domestic product, renewable energy, and trade openness. The study employs an annual panel dataset covering the period 2012-2019, utilizing method of moments quantile regression (MMQR) to test the nexus with the variables. The findings reveal that foreign direct investment negatively affects the environment in East Africa, but only at relatively high quantiles (greater than 0.7). Furthermore, as the quantiles of CO2 emissions increase, the positive impact of foreign direct investment becomes more pronounced, suggesting that FDI has a greater effect on carbon dioxide emissions when pollution levels are already relatively high. The research also reveals an inverted N-EKC association between GDP and CO2 emissions. This outcome provides substantial support for the pollution haven hypothesis. It not only confirms that foreign direct investment contributes to heightened pollution in East Africa but also emphasizes that FDI magnifies environmental damage, especially in regions where pollution is already a substantial concern, often marked by less stringent environmental regulations. Comparative performance analysis of deposit and participation banking sectors using CAMELS analysis and statistical methods: Turkey example
İstatiksel analizlerin açıklanabilir ve daha güvenilir olması sebebiyle, bankaların finansal performanslarını ölçmek için regresyon analizinin kullanılmasının da doğru ve anlamlı sonuçlar vereceği sonucuna varılmıştır.CAMELS analysis is used in the banking sector in many countries to measure the financial status of banks. In this study, using the financial ratios in the literature, CAMELS scores and their components were calculated for the ten largest deposit banks and six active participation banks in terms of asset size between 2010 and 2022. The financial ratios used in the CAMELS analysis were also used in the regression model and it was compared that the analysis gave better results. It has been concluded that using regression analysis to measure the financial performance of banks will also give accurate and meaningful results, as statistical analyzes are explainable and more reliable
Trading halts and the advantage of institutional investors: Historical evidence from Borsa Istanbul
The effects and effectiveness of trading halts remain controversial among academics and regulators. This paper
provides historical evidence regarding the efficacy of trading halts from a leading emerging market with a unique
microstructure, Borsa Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange), by examining the return, volatility, and volume
behavior around news-initiated trading halts using trade-by-trade data and 15-min intervals from January
1999–April 2003. It also investigates, for the first time, the trading behavior of different types of investors, such
as individuals, mutual funds, and brokerage houses, around trading halts. Findings indicate that most of the new
information is absorbed by prices within 15 min following the resumption of trading after a halt. The reaction of
investors to bad news is slower and stronger than good news. Despite halts, institutional investors employ the
price advantage of new information during the cessation period ahead of individual investors utilizing better
timing in trading after the halts. Institutional investors systematically buy and sell at more favorable prices
around halts than individual investors. Finally, overall evidence suggests that trading halts are effective in the
dissemination of valuable information and play an important role in enhancing the efficiency of the price dis covery mechanism
Examination of the effect of consumer comments on e-commerce sites on continuance intention to online shopping within the scope of social exchange theory
The present study examines the importance of consumer comments for continuance intention on the e-commerce sites they shop at based on social exchange theory (SET). In the conceptual model, the effect of consumer comments on continuance intention to shop online on the e-commerce site was investigated within the framework of sense of self-worth, reputation, reciprocity, propensity to trust, and satisfaction. A total of 226 valid questionnaires were collected from participants. SPSS 25 and Process Macro 4.0 were used for data analysis. The findings from this study show that consumers' sense of self-worth affects reputation and reciprocity. These concepts affect shopping satisfaction on the e-commerce site, and satisfaction positively affects the continued intention to shop online on the e-commerce site. Also, the moderating role of propensity to trust in this relationship is not significant. As a result of the study, the findings were discussed, and theoretical and practical implications and future work directions were included

Black body radiation problem with an infinite speed of light perspective and some consequences
2024 Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium, PIERS 2024 -- 21 April 2024 through 25 April 2024 -- Chengdu -- 201582The black body radiation problem is considered in view of the possibility of an infinite speed of light c brought up by the author in previous work. When c is infinite, the relation k = frac?c which is the result of Maxwell's equations for the Fourier transform of an electromagnetic wave excludes the possibility of the ultraviolet catastrophe for the black body radiation problem. This removes a necessity of discretization of energy. To demonstrate that under infinite speed of light and without the discretization of energy it is possible to model the photo-electric effect, the phenomenon of extraction of an electron from a metallic surface by an incident wave is considered. Magnetic sources which are found to accompany an infinite light speed are also accounted for in the field equations. Using the Fourier transform of the fields including the fields emitted by the extracted electron and the created magnetic charge, a Poynting vector computation is performed to enforce the power conservation principle. The equation relating the incident wave frequency, electron kinetic energy and the work function of the metal is obtained. As another effort to demonstrate the viability of a non-discretized energy approach when light speed is infinite, early quantum theory is visited and some non-causal and heuristic assumptions of the theory are attempted to be replaced by the findings of the proposed approach. Bohr's atomic model is the focus of the examination that may raise the question of whether a similar treatment can be applied to other quantization procedures of the relevant atomic spectrum theory such as for magnetic quantum numbers, spin quantum numbers, etc. when speed of light is infinite. © 2024 IEEE.Istanbul Commerce Universit
The mediating role of logistics 4.0 capability on the relationship between e-commerce marketing and firm performance
This study aims to determine whether e-commerce marketing capability impacts firm performance and what role logistics 4.0 plays in this relationship. Based on the literature and grounded on dynamic capability theory we develop a theoretical framework in which logistics 4.0 capability plays a mediating role in the relationship between e-commerce marketing and firm performance. Our hypotheses are tested using survey data from 553 respondents working in the logistics, textiles, white goods, and electronics sectors. The data is analyzed using structural equation modeling. Empirical results show that e-commerce marketing positively impacts firm performance and logistics 4.0 capability is mediating in this relationship. Logistics 4.0 capability enhances firm performance by improving on-time deliveries and increasing the efficiency of supply chain processes. Our results highlight the importance of investing in Logistics 4.0 capability including talent, managerial, and technical resources to improve the benefits the firm is getting from e-commerce marketing. Logistics 4.0's capability enhances e-commerce marketing's impact on firm performance by increasing on-time deliveries, efficiency, flexibility, quality, and responsiveness to customers, and improving the ability to build enterprise agility. This study contributes to firm performance literature by identifying the mediating role Logistics 4.0 plays in the relationship between ecommerce marketing and performance.European Union-Next Generation EU & the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, SloveniaResearch and APC was funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU & the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Slovenia. An integrated Fine-Kinney risk assessment model utilizing Fermatean fuzzy AHP-WASPAS for occupational hazards in the aquaculture sector
The multidisciplinary field of occupational health and safety (OHS) aims to identify, assess, and mitigating hazards that arise in the workplace or due to the execution of the work. The Fine-Kinney method is a quantitative risk assessment widely applied in many industries to identify, evaluate and prevent potential hazards. Despite the widespread usage of the classic Fine-Kinney approach in several research, its effectiveness in addressing the issue of objective risk appraisal among decision-makers is limited. Therefore, this study proposes a comprehensive occupational risk assessment framework that integrates the Fine-Kinney method with the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS) under the Fermatean fuzzy environment. The Fermatean fuzzy set (FFS) offers a more flexible solution in determining the uncertainty and vagueness of information, as it covers membership and non-membership degrees in a wider area compared to intuitionistic and Pythagorean fuzzy sets. The AHP approach is used to calculate the weightage of each Fine-Kinney risk parameter (probability (P), exposure (E), and consequence (C)), and WASPAS method is used to find the ranking of the hazards. In the proposed model, Fermatean fuzzy weighted geometric (FFWG) operator is used for aggregation of expert opinions. Finally, sensitivity and comparative analyses are also performed to further highlight the adaptability and efficiency of the proposed occupational health and safety risk assessment (OHSRA) model, and a case study analyzing occupational hazards for aquaculture operations is presented to demonstrate the model's rationality and feasibility
