Azimuthal correlations in Z plus jets events in proton-proton collisions at ?s=13TeV

    Get PDF
The production of Z bosons associated with jets is measured in pp collisions at v s = 13 TeV with data recorded with the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3 fb(-1). The multiplicity of jets with transverse momentum pT > 30 GeV is measured for different regions of the Z boson's pT(Z), from lower than 10 GeV to higher than 100 GeV. The azimuthal correlation Delta phi between the Z boson and the leading jet, as well as the correlations between the two leading jets are measured in three regions of p(T)(Z). The measurements are compared with several predictions at leading and next-to-leading orders, interfaced with parton showers. Predictions based on transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions and corresponding parton showers give a good description of the measurement in the regions wheremultiple parton interactions and higher jet multiplicities are not important. The effects of multiple parton interactions are shown to be important to correctly describe the measured spectra in the low pT(Z) regions

    Get PDF
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes, including progression-free survival (PFS), overall sur-vival (OS), Objective Response Rate (ORR), and Disease Control Rate (DCR), in patients received Lutetium-177 (Lu-177) DOTATATE Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT) for metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. This study further stratified outcomes based on tumor grade, Ki-67 status, primary tumor localization, number of treatment cycles, and associated adverse effects. Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study analyzing the data of 73 patients with metastatic NETs across 17 different hospitals in various regions of Turkiye. A total of 73 metastatic NET patients underwent Lu-177 DOT-ATATE PRRT between December 2013 and March 2023. Results: Over a median follow-up of 52.7 months, patients showed a median PFS of 13.7 months and OS of 51.2 months. The ORR was 29.6%, and the DCR was 66.2%. Grade 1 and 2 tumor patients had superior outcomes (PFS: 16.9 months, OS: 55.5 months) compared to grade 3 tumor patients (PFS: 8.5 months, OS: 29.5 months). Based on their Ki-67 status, those <= 20% had prolonged PFS (16.9 months) and OS (55.5 months) than those between 21 and 55% (PFS: 5.9 months, OS: 41.3 months). Regarding primary tumor localization, the PFS values were 13.1, 15.3, 13.7, and 8.6 months for pancreatic, GIS, lung, and unknown origin tumors, respectively. The OS across tumor types fluctuated between 41.1 and 54.1 months. Patients who received more than four cycles demonstrated significantly improved median PFS (22.4 months) and OS (90.3 months) compared to those who received <= 4 cycles (median PFS: 9.3 months; median OS: 41.8 months). Grade 3-4 adverse effects were observed in 21.9% of patients. Conclusion: Our findings affirm that PRRT is a potent and well-tolerated treatment for metastatic NETs. Notably, pa-tients who received more than 4 cycles of PRRT experienced a markedly improved median PFS and OS compared to their counterparts who received <= 4 cycles

Search for leptonic charge asymmetry in t(t)over-barW production in final states with three leptons at ?s=13 TeV

    Get PDF
A search for the leptonic charge asymmetry (A(c)(l)) of top-quark-antiquark pair production in association with a W boson (t (t) over barW) is presented. The search is performed using final states with exactly three charged light leptons (electrons or muons) and is based on root s = 13TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN during the years 2015-2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). A profile-likelihood fit to the event yields in multiple regions corresponding to positive and negative differences between the pseudorapidities of the charged leptons from top-quark and top-antiquark decays is used to extract the charge asymmetry. At reconstruction level, the asymmetry is found to be -0.12 +/- 0.14 (stat.) +/- 0.05 (syst.). An unfolding procedure is applied to convert the result at reconstruction level into a charge-asymmetry value in a fiducial volume at particle level with the result of -0.11 +/- 0.17 (stat.) +/- 0.05 (syst.). The Standard Model expectations for these two observables are calculated using Monte Carlo simulations with next-to-leading-order plus parton shower precision in quantum chromodynamics and including next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections. They are -0.084(-0.003)(+0.005) (scale) +/- 0.006 (MC stat.) and -0.063(-0.004)(+0.007) (scale) +/- 0.004 (MC stat.) respectively, and in agreement with the measurements

The analyses of frictional losses and thermal stresses in a diesel engine piston coated with different thicknesses of thermal barrier films using co-simulation method

    No full text
This study comparatively presents the thermal and mechanical effects of different Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) and their thicknesses on the performance of aluminum diesel engine piston by combining Finite Element Analyses (FEA) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) methods. The piston structure of MWM TbRHS 518S indirect injection six-cylinder diesel engine was modeled. The clustered TBCs (NiCrAlY-Gd2Zr2O7, NiCrAlY-MgO-ZrO2, NiCrAl-Yttria Partially Stabilized Zirconia (YPSZ), and NiCrAlY-La2Zr2O7) were implemented to the related surface of aluminum alloy piston and then static, thermal, and transient structural FEA were conducted for each model. Based on both of the temperature and equivalent stress distributions, NiCrAlY-Gd2Zr2O7 coated model displayed the best performance. Additionally, the effects of top coating thicknesses of TBCs were investigated in the range of 0.1-1.0 mm with 0.1 mm increments in FEAs. The thermally effective top coating thickness was predicted as 0.95 mm for the selected TBC using ANN method. Then the effects of coating thickness on frictional performance were revealed by generating transient structural FE models and utilizing stribeck diagram. The uncoated and 0.95 mm NiCrAlY-Gd2Zr2O7 coated models were adjusted as transient and the related crank angle - dependent in-cylinder combustion pressure data was implemented. The friction force was reduced by at least 15% in NiCrAlY-Gd2Zr2O7 coated model

Multiprocessing implementations for time-dependent fracture analysis of an electronic packaging structure

    No full text
Investigation of fracture mechanics problems with computational tools has always been a great challenge due to singularities present at the crack tip. FRAC3D is an effective finite element tool that benefits from enriched element methodology. The dynamic version of this code enables the analysis of structures with stationary cracks subjected to impact loading. Response of the components in these problems are highly influenced by stress wave propagation phenomenon. In this study, bimaterial interface cracking in an electronic packaging structure is analyzed considering transient behavior. Besides the complications associated with the finite element solution of such a problem, long computational times may also be an issue considering model sizes. Multiprocessing of finite element codes could save significant times if corresponding algorithms are restructured with parallel processing tools in an efficient form. Up to 75 % reductions in time for the given example were obtained by using newly implemented multiprocessing code

Search for the exotic decay of the Higgs boson into two light pseudoscalars with four photons in the final state in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV

    Get PDF
A search for the exotic decay of the Higgs boson to a pair of light pseudoscalars, each of which subsequently decays into a pair of photons, is presented. The search uses data from proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 132 fb?1. The analysis probes pseudoscalar bosons with masses in the range 15–62 GeV, coming from the Higgs boson decay, which leads to four well-isolated photons in the final state. No significant deviation from the background-only hypothesis is observed. Upper limits are set on the product of the Higgs boson production cross section and branching fraction into four photons. The observed (expected) limits range from 0.80 (1.00) fb for a pseudoscalar boson mass of 15 GeV to 0.26 (0.24) fb for a mass of 62 GeV at 95% confidence level. © The Author(s) 2023

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT: This thesis examines the social media influencer career path from the anthropology of work perspective, revealing its characteristics as well as its prospects and problems. This study aims to investigate “What do influencers think and feel about their job? Is being an influencer as attractive a career path as it seems? How do influencers work? What difficulties do influencers encounter? How do they handle the challenges of being public people, marketers, and content producers?” The research questions are analyzed by conducting semi-structured interviews with 10 social media influencers. The study shows that being an influencer includes inspiring and influencing people on social media while being aware of responsibilities and potential consequences. Three work models including, independent, team-based, and agency-based are found with their advantages and drawbacks The findings show that the influencer industry requires constant platform adaptation, keeping up with trends, and content management to reach a greater audience. Social media influencers must prioritize moral issues, openness, and credibility The importance of understanding the influencer economy, which has economic, competitive, ethical, and strategic components, is also underlined in the study. The findings suggest that effective communication and managing follower expectations are the keys to success while influencers need to prioritize their well-being because time management and finding a work-life balance can be difficult. Participants reported that productivity and motivation are impacted by the place of work, including worries about cultural norms and work undervaluation. Besides, negative comments and cyberbullying have an impact on the participants' mental health and require resiliency. This study, which improves comprehension of the influencer profession from the anthropology of work perspective, offers important insights to academics, professionals, and prospective social media influencers. To address the changing dynamics of the influencer industry, more study is advised.ÖZET: Bu tez, sosyal medya fenomenliği kariyer yolunu çalışma antropolojisi perspektifinden inceleyerek özelliklerini, geleceğini ve sorunlarını ortaya koymaktadır. Cooking with ChatGPT and Bard: A Study on Competencies of AI Tools on Recipe Correction, Adaption, Time Management and Presentation

    No full text
With its potential use in many areas including food and beverage sector, artificial intelligence has become one of the most prominent topics recently, partly due to the new AI tools. This study evaluates the competencies of ChatGPT (versions 3.5 and 4) and Bard in relation to food recipes by assigning tasks in five different areas: recipe correction, recipe adaptation, recipe detailing, time management, and presentation. The responses were then analyzed. It was observed that ChatGPT 4 outperformed the other tools in recipe correction, time management and presentation tasks while it gave similar results with ChatGPT 3.5 in recipe adaptation and recipe detailing tasks. Bard performed better than ChatGPT 3.5 in recipe correction but performed worse than both tools in all other tasks. Subsequent discussions highlighted the strengths and limitations of the tools. While these tools’ scores may not yet outperform a professional chef in the assigned tasks, they can be alternative and supportive assets in the gastronomy field considering their rapid response rates. Along with the potential use of the tools in tasks such as adapting recipes, managing time, and generating presentation ideas, the ongoing development and interaction of AI tools and related technologies could contribute significantly to the food industry in the future
