Analysis of CO selectivity during electroreduction of CO2 in deep eutectic solvents by machine learning

    No full text
In this work, supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches were applied to determine routes to high CO selectivity during the electroreduction of CO2 in deep eutectic solvents (DES) utilizing the molecular, chemical, and physical characteristics of hydrogen bond donors and acceptors, as well as the properties of different electrodes and DES solvents. In addition, effective data visualization and machine learning techniques were employed to identify relationships between descriptor variables and CO faradaic efficiency. First, SHAP (Shapley Additive exPlanations) analysis was applied to determine the positive and negative effects of the descriptor variables on the target, and it was found that urea in HBD (hydrogen bond donor) has the greatest impact on the target. Then, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to identify the combinations that lead to low, medium, and high levels of the target. PCA indicated that high-level clusters may be linked with HBA (hydrogen bond acceptor) molecular properties rather than HBD in addition to choline chloride-type HBA, HBA/HBD ratio, HBD density, HBD melting point, and urea-type HBD. Finally, decision tree classification was used to discover the variables leading to very high levels of the target. The decision tree revealed one pathway with very high CO faradaic efficiency and two pathways with high CO faradaic efficiency. To conclude, future researchers will be able to design new experiments with less effort and time while analyzing the effect of new DES components for high-performance CO2 electrolyzers as a result of the machine learning study and exploratory data analysis performed in this study

ÖZET: Bu makalenin çıkış noktası 1996 yılında Taksim Meydanı’nda gerçekleştirilen İsrail’i Kınama Mitingi’nde çekilen bir fotoğraftır. Elle-rinde döviz tutan üç çocuğun bulunduğu fotoğraf bir aile arşivinde saklanan gazete kupüründe yer almaktadır. Görsel kültür incelemesi olarak kurgulanan çalışmaya gazete kupüründeki fotoğrafın çağrıştırdığı iki farklı imge dahil edilmiştir. Aile ve ulus-devletin çocuk ve yurttaş idealini ihlal eden üç fotoğraf “bakışın yurttaş uzamı”nda (civic space of the gaze) bir araya getirilir. İmgeler üzerinden düşün-me pratiği olarak kurgulanan makaledeki fotoğraflar kanıt niteliğinden ziyade yeni bilgi üretimini mümkün kılacak şekilde yorumlanır.ABSTRACT: The starting point of this article is a photograph taken at the Rally to Condemn Israel held in Taksim Square in 1996. The photograph of three children holding banners is found in a newspaper clipping kept in a family archive. Two different images evoked by the pho-tograph in the newspaper clipping were include in the study designed as a visual culture analysis. Three photographs that violate the ideal of the child and the citizen of the family and the nation state are brought together in the civic space of the gaze. The photographs in the article, which is constructed as a practice of thinking through images, are interpreted in a way that enables the production of new knowledge rather than evidence

This study was carried out to improve the quality of school health services with the operational epidemiology method. The study aimed to describe the current status of the School Health Protection and Improvement Program (SHPIP), the difficulties experienced during its implementation, to develop evidence-based solution methods, and to test the proposed solutions, in a district with a population of 400,513, 20.4% of which is of school age between the ages of 5–19. The “Health Risk Management Program at Schools”, which consists of the stages of putting the results into practice by sharing the results with the relevant parties, wasdeveloped. In this study, a cross-sectional research design was employed using questionnaire forms, while qualitative data were collected through the use of the phenomenological analysis method, specifically through the conduct of focus group interviews. SHPIP year-end evaluation forms of 191 schools were reviewed retrospectively, questionnaires were applied to 554 school staff and 146 family health center staff between 21 October 2019 and 21 November 2019 using the probabilistic sampling (simple random) method, and semi-structured focus group interviews were conducted with 10 school health study executives. The most common health risks in schools and the risks identified during the execution of school health services were identified. In order to eliminate the lack of in-service training, training modules for “School Health Management Teams” were developed and impact analyses were conducted. After the intervention, a significant difference was found in the compliance of schools with SHPIP, and the application of all components of the school health program increased from 10.0% to 65.6% (p < 0.05). The program has been integrated into the “School Health Protection and Improvement Program” (SHPIP) with the decisions of the District School Health Board and District Hygiene Council. © 2023 by the authors

ABSTRACT: This thesis analyzes the construction of the identities of women's representations and the formation of cultural production in the films of Kurdish directors living in different geographies made in the 2000s. The thesis centers on the approach toward Kurdish national identity and cultural formation. The thesis argues that the concept of national identity that led to the formation and construction of Kurdish cinema was the transformation that led to the establishment of the construction of representations of women. To outline this transformation, the thesis analyzes the concepts of representation, national identity, ethnic identity, and culture formation. The thesis focuses on the debates on the definitions and construction of Kurdish cinema. It shows that the national identity discourses in these debates are also influential in constructing women's identities. The study proposes considering the representations of Kurdish women and the concepts of national identity, identity construction, and cultural production.ÖZET: Bu tez, 2000'li yıllarda yapılmış farklı coğrafyalarda yaşayan Kürt yönetmenlerin filmlerindeki kadın temsillerinin kimliklerinin inşasını ve kültürel üretim oluşumlarını analiz ediyor.

ESG performance and dividend payout: A channel analysis

    No full text
This paper investigates the impact of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on corporate dividend policy. We employ a panel data set comprised of 1094 non-financial listed firms in 21 European countries from 2002 to 2019. We show that companies with higher ESG performance are likely to pay higher dividends. Our results are robust to alternative variable definitions and specifications and address endogeneity concerns. We next investigate the possible transmission channels through which corporate ESG performance enhances dividend payouts. We present novel evidence that earnings and risk are the two possible channels through which ESG performance augments corporate dividends

Arteriovenous fistula self-care behaviors in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment: Association with health literacy and self-care agency

    No full text
Background: Arteriovenous fistula-related self-care behaviors, self-care agency and health literacy are important for vascular access patency, which is vital in the continuation of hemodialysis treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the arteriovenous fistula-related self-care behaviors of patients receiving chronic hemodialysis treatment and the relationship between these behaviors and their health literacy and self-care agency levels. Methods: In this descriptive correlational study, the data were collected from 216 chronic hemodialysis patients. Results: The rate of the patients who had good self-care behaviors levels was 83.96%. The sociodemographic variables that were significantly related to AVF-related self-care behaviors were education, employment status and age. It was found that the patients who had had AVF for a longer time had better self-care behaviors regarding their management of symptoms and findings (p < 0.05). As the self-care agency of the patients (r = 0.612, p < 0.001) and their health literacy (r = 0.421, p < 0.001) increased, their AVF-related self-care behaviors also increased. Conclusion: Age, education status, health literacy and self-care agency were identified to affect AVF-related self-care behaviors.University of Health Sciences Hamidiye Ethics CommitteeThe author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This research is supported from University of Health Sciences Hamidiye Ethics Committee
