Conservation of Resources Theory Interpretation of Co-Destructed After-sales Service Encounters

    No full text
The current study investigates the consumers’ co-destructed experiences with after-sales services (AS) through the lens of Conservation of Resources (COR) theory and Service Dominant Logic. The research is carried out in two phases. First, a qualitative study is conducted by analyzing consumer stories about co-destructed AS experiences with data collected from a public complaint website and three focus group interviews. Second, the proposed model is empirically tested on 207 consumer responses collected through a survey. The results reveal different paths on which consumers’ secondary losses either lead to low AS satisfaction or punitive behaviors after experiencing a co-destructed AS interaction. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC

“As Reliable as a Kalashnikov Rifle”: How Sputnik News Promotes Russian Vaccine Technologies in the Turkish Twittersphere

    Get PDF
Established in 2014, SputnikTR (a localized version of Sputnik News) is the most popular pro-Russian media outlet active in Turkey. The news content published by SputnikTR's Twitter account currently attracts the highest engagement rates among the international public broadcasters active in Turkey. SputnikTR's official Twitter account has more followers (1M) than Sputnik News English (326K). This article argues that SputnikTR's Twitter account is used to promote Russian vaccine technologies in Turkey. We believe that it is also a conduit for the dissemination of pro-Russian as well as anti-Western narratives to the Turkish online public. Using a computational methodology, we collected 2,782 vaccine-related tweets posted by SputnikTR's Twitter account between April 2019 and April 2021. We deployed framing as well as critical discourse analysis to study the contents of our dataset. Our findings suggest that SputnikTR uses (a) disinformation as well as misinformation in vaccine-related news and (b) unethical communication techniques to maximize engagement with content posted on Twitter. Our findings are significant insofar as they are the first documented instances of Russian propaganda efforts on Turkish Twitter. These efforts seem to be focused on promoting the Russian vaccine while encouraging public hesitancy toward Western vaccine technologies

Introduction to a Culturally Sensitive Measure of Well-Being: Combining Life Satisfaction and Interdependent Happiness Across 49 Different Cultures

    No full text
How can one conclude that well-being is higher in country A than country B, when well-being is being measured according to the way people in country A think about well-being? We address this issue by proposing a new culturally sensitive method to comparing societal levels of well-being. We support our reasoning with data on life satisfaction and interdependent happiness focusing on individual and family, collected mostly from students, across forty-nine countries. We demonstrate that the relative idealization of the two types of well-being varies across cultural contexts and are associated with culturally different models of selfhood. Furthermore, we show that rankings of societal well-being based on life satisfaction tend to underestimate the contribution from interdependent happiness. We introduce a new culturally sensitive method for calculating societal well-being, and examine its construct validity by testing for associations with the experience of emotions and with individualism-collectivism. This new culturally sensitive approach represents a slight, yet important improvement in measuring well-being.National Science Centre (Poland) [2019/34/H/HS6/00597, UMO-2016/23/D/HS6/02946]; Hungarian [OTKA-K 135963]; Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development - CNPq [301298/2018-1]; Czech Science Foundation CSF [20-08583S]; NPO; Systemic Risk Institute [LX22NPO510]; EU -Next Generation EU; National Natural Science Foundation of China [71873133]; Department of Educational Studies, University of Roma Tre under biannual Grant DSFThis work was supported by the Norway Grants 2014-2021 operated by the National Science Centre (Poland) under Project Contract No 2019/34/H/HS6/00597 (GRIEG); National Science Centre (Poland) grant UMO-2016/23/D/HS6/02946; the Hungarian OTKA-K 135963, the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development - CNPq under Grant 301298/2018-1; the Czech Science Foundation CSF under Grant 20-08583S, by the NPO, Systemic Risk Institute, LX22NPO510, EU -Next Generation EU; the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 71873133; and the Department of Educational Studies, University of Roma Tre under biannual Grant DSF 2017-2018

Çalışmamızın, Türk Borçlar Kanunu kapsamında alacağın devri işleminin ve ivazlı olarak yapılan alacağın devri işlemlerinde garanti sorumluluğunun tanımı, kapsamı ve sonuçlarının anlaşılmasına katkı sağlayacağını düşünüyoruz.ABSTRACT: There are three parties in the assignment of claims: the assignor, the assignee and the debtor. The assignment of claims is a legal institution that is frequently applied today. In practice a claim is assigned by the assignor because of different purposes. The assignment of claims can be made with consideration or without consideration. The subject of the study is composed of the terms of the assignment of claims, the conditions and the legal obligations arising from the assignment. The guarantees of the assignments of claims arises from the assignments with consideration. The aim of the study is to clarify the legal concept of the guarantees in the assignment of claims. In this study the subjects are evaluated in terms of the Turkish legal system and this study is based on doctrine and jurisdictional decisions. Our study consists of three parts. The first part is general information about the assignment of claims, the second part is about the guarantees in the assignment of claims and the third part is about the consequences of the guarantees in the assignment of claims. We consider that this study contributes to understanding the assignment of claims, legal concept and the consequences of the guarantees in the assignment of claims with consideration according to Turkish Obligation Law

Thermal and acoustic characterization of nanofibrous polymeric structures for insulation applications

    No full text
Nanofibrous structures are engineered materials for high-end applications. The impact of electrospinning settings on the thermal and acoustic properties of polyurethane (PU) nanofibrous structures is examined in this research. The excellent sound-absorbing properties of PU make it a versatile material that may be used in a variety of acoustic applications. The study focuses on how PU nanofiber morphology, such as fiber diameter and volume fraction, is affected by varying ambient conditions. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are used to examine the stability and thermal behavior of PU nanofibers. The findings show that raising the fiber volume fraction improves thermal stability and changes the way PU nanofibers behave thermally. PU nanofiber webs provide efficient sound absorption in low and intermediate frequency ranges according to the study's analysis of the sound absorption coefficients. According to the results, PU nanofiber webs may offer novel approaches to noise control, especially in situations where acoustic panel insulation is needed with no weight penalty

Toward a Smart Actuating System for Service Robots

    Get PDF
Owing to the increasing engagement of service robots in everyday life, significant requirements are imposed on their control systems to ensure safe interaction between robots and humans. The stiffness of the motion executed by the service robots is not high, as with industrial robots, but has to be variable depending on the defined task. Therefore, a service robot needs to have soft actuation, delivering “humanlike” motion dependant on the interaction force between the robot and its environment. Such an operation requires switching from the trajectory tracking (position control) mode to the interaction (force control) mode, and vice versa. Conventional control methods, based on hybrid position/force control, or switching between a position and force controller, may fail short in these cases. Thus, we have previously proposed a new control method, denoted as universal motion controller, that merges the position and force control into a single control structure. The control method is elaborated in this article, and its experimental validation is presented for the first time for multi-degree-of-freedom systems

Observation of an Excess of Dicharmonium Events in the Four-Muon Final State with the ATLAS Detector

    Get PDF
A search is made for potential ccc? c? tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four ffiffi muon final state using proton-proton collision data at ps ¼ 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb?1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J=? ? J=? ? 4? and J=? ? ? ?2S? ? 4?, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J=? channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J=? ? ? ?2S? channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported. © 2023 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration

The effect of colors on quality perception and purchasing intentions of individualist and collectivist consumers

    Get PDF
Tüm kavramların birleştiği aynı zamanda analiz edilebilecek bir araştırma konusudur.ABSTRACT: It is an ongoing fact throughout history that colors have an impact on people's decision mechanisms. The use of colors, which are accepted as symbols, as communication and interaction instruments is not new information. There are many normative attitudes created by colors (religious-cultural-material-familial..). Although the role of color in marketing is quite large, it is striking that research and working authors on this subject are surprisingly few. Especially in online environments, there are large information gaps about colors. While doing individual research on colors, examining the subject socially first will form the basis of this subject. Societies are divided into individual individuals and collectivist individuals. Throughout history, different meanings have been attributed to colors from both social and individual perspectives. Sometimes different colors represent different identities. Preferred colors within the concept of fashion and the quality perception of these colors, measuring the effect of fashion understanding on readymade clothing and examining the reflections of these colors under the title of quality will be a guide for marketers in this regard. It is a research topic that can be analyzed at the same time that all concepts are combined
