Mask Design
No full textI view mask design as something very closely related to makeup design and when the opportunity came to take a mask and puppet design course, I was excited to learn about world puppet and mask traditions. It was interesting learning different techniques such as papier-mâché, plaster gauze, thermal plastics, and soft sculpture techniques in creating a variety of projects.
Learning about mask design helped me understand this additional layer that creates the embodiment of a character with just the face and reinforces my knowledge of makeup

No full textUnfortunately, a week before load-in, I fell ill and was not able to put the final touches on my design. Akeem Celestine was asked to step in to assist with completing the work from my notes. The final project came out well with a few initial choices that I was considering changing. For example, I wanted to change the fit of Polly’s, one of the young girl’s, yellow dress to be more like a baby doll dress instead of it being kept in a loose-fitting manner.
What I learned from this particular instance was first, to let control of my design go and to trust someone else to complete it; and secondly, to maintain complete and accessible notes, just in case. You never know what can happen to you, when it comes to completing a project
