Mesenteric lymphatic malformation mimicking an adnexal source in a teenager
Mesenteric lymphatic malformations are rare benign tumors that are usually found in children and very rarely are they found in the abdomen. We present a rare case in which a mesenteric lymphatic malformation mimics an adnexal source. This is an important contribution to obstetrics and gynecology literature to show the importance of keeping this rare diagnosis on the differential, as well as the value of multi-disciplinary care
Can Bandl’s ring be recurrent?
Background: Bandl’s ring is a pathologic contraction ring of the uterus that is associated with obstructed labor.
Case: A 35-year-old with an uncomplicated past medical history was found to have a Bandl’s ring in her first pregnancy during a cesarean section for failure to progress. During her subsequent pregnancy, what appeared to be a Bandl’s ring was again found during repeat cesarean section after spontaneous labor
Opposing Tyranny: White Resistance against the Rhodesian Front (1965-1977)
In November 1965, the government of Southern Rhodesia unilaterally declared itself independent from Britain. It was an extreme response to the British directive that there would be “no independence before majority rule.” The ruling political party during this time, the Rhodesian Front, feared the consequences of relinquishing power. Born out of imperialist beliefs and anti-communist sentiment, this ultra-conservative political party sought to maintain minority rule and asserted that Rhodesia would “never in a thousand years” be ruled by the Black majority. While many Whites supported minority rule, my paper will focus on the efforts of select groups within the White African community to subvert the Rhodesian Front led government and initiate majority rule within what would become the state of Zimbabwe. I am looking specifically at two groups of people who have different philosophies, yet share the same goal of majority rule. This paper will discuss notable members from each group including Judith Todd, an equal rights activist and daughter of a former Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia, and Bishop Donal Lamont, an Irish missionary who defied an emergency governmental order and assisted the Black resistance

Resilience and Self-Reliance in Canadian Food Charter Discourse
This article interrogates the rhetoric of “self-reliance” as a common feature of discourses about individual and community resilience by examining Canadian food charters in the context of regional food systems aimed at improving community food security. Despite the association of food charters with alternative food systems and progressive politics, we find that their ambiguous and shifting appeals to self-reliance largely conflict with their stated social justice goals of community food security, particularly the goal of alleviating the distress of food insecurity for vulnerable community members. Overall, we argue that the rhetoric of self-reliance in Canadian food charters primarily perpetuates a neoliberal ideology of resilience that promotes an active, enterprising ethos of responsibility for one’s own well-being, whether at the level of individuals, communities, or food systems. Our study thus contributes to critical scholarship that contextualizes and problematizes specific sites and practices of resilience discourse
Trash Island
Trash Island is an interactive book intended for ages 12 and up, aimed at exploring the current environmental crises in a personalized way. As you choose action points through the book, it is encouraged that you think about the reality of each situation. Through this book, I want children to garner interest in the natural world and sciences, acknowledge that their actions can have consequences in terms of the health of our planet, and foster prolonged curiosity toward turning thought into action. I think that we all have an inherent want to do something for this world, to leave it better than we found it, to somehow make a difference. I hope this book provides you with an idea for how to start
