NiCo2O4 Nanofiber Cluster Assisted by NH4F Growing on 3D Graphene as a Binder-Free Electrode for Lithium-Ion Batteries

    No full text
High-performance anode materials are crucial for developing next-generation high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). In previous reports, NiCo2O4 showed great potential as a candidate anode material for the next-generation LIBs. In this article, we fabricated nanofiber clusters of NiCo2O4-decorated 3D graphene@Nickel foam (NCO@3DGNF) via coupled chemical vapor deposition and NH4F-assisted in situ hydrothermal-anneal route. When the NCO@3DGNF nanocomposite was used as the binder-free electrode for LIBs, the discharge capacity of the nanocomposite reached 707.7 mAh g(-1) after 480 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A g(-1), with good reversibility (Coulomb efficiency is 98-99%) and excellent rate performance. The hierarchical porous structure can not only boost the penetration of electrolytes and ensure rapid electron transport but also buffer the strain caused by lithiation. Therefore, these encouraging results suggest that the NCO@3DGNF composite may be an up-and-coming candidate to replace the anode materials of conventional graphite-based LIBs

Enhancement of biofilm formation and microalgae growth by preparing cellulose film with rough surface

    No full text
A series of cellulose films with rough surface were prepared by dissolution and regeneration in the ionic liquid, 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (AmimCl). The cellulose films possessed a rough surface with the maximum height difference (S-z) of 128-217 mu m, a macroporous structure with a high porosity of 84.7%-90.5%, and a negative potential between -40.00 and -54.15 mV. Furthermore, the cellulose films exhibited excellent microalgae adhesion properties. After 18 days of attached Chlorella sp. cultivation experiments, the average productivities of C-A-120 films (C-A-X, X means the mesh number of the substrate) reached 20.80 g m(-2) d(-1)), which is 2.69 times than that of the cellulose film with a smooth surface. The result indicates that the cellulose films with a rough surface and high water adsorption ratio have a huge potential in serving as the substrate of the attached microalgae cultivation to promote microalgae cells growth and biofilm formation

Highly Efficient Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction to C2+ Products on a Poly(ionic liquid)-Based Cu-0-Cu-I Tandem Catalyst

    No full text
Electroreduction of CO2 on a polymer-modified Cu-based catalyst has shown high multi-electron reduction (>2 e(-)) selectivity, however, most of the corresponding current densities are still too small to support industrial applications. In this work, we designed a poly(ionic liquid) (PIL)-based Cu-0-Cu-I tandem catalyst for the production of C2+ products with both high reaction rate and high selectivity. Remarkably, a high C2+ faradaic efficiency (FEC2+ ) of 76.1 % with a high partial current density of 304.2 mA cm(-2) is obtained. Mechanistic studies reveal the numbers and highly dispersed Cu-0-PIL-Cu-I interfaces are vital for such reactivity. Specifically, Cu nanoparticles derived Cu-0-PIL interfaces account for high current density and a moderate C2+ selectivity, whereas Cu-I species derived PIL-Cu-I interfaces exhibit high activity for C-C coupling with the local enriched *CO intermediate. Furthermore, the presence of the PIL layer promotes the C2+ selectivity by lowering the barrier of C-C coupling

Theoretical Study of Non-Fullerene Acceptors Using End-Capped Groups with Different Electron-Withdrawing Abilities toward Efficient Organic Solar Cells

    No full text
Acceptors in organic solar cells (OSCs) are of paramount importance. On the basis of the well-known non-fullerene acceptor Y6, six acceptors (Y6-COH, Y6-COOH, Y6-CN, Y6-SO2H, Y6-CF3, and Y6-NO2) were designed by end-capped manipulation. The effects of end-capped engineering on electronic properties, optical properties, and interfacial charge-transfer states were systematically studied by density functional theory, time-dependent density functional theory, and molecular dynamics. The designed acceptors possess suitable energy levels and improved optical properties. More importantly, the electron mobility of the new acceptors was greatly enhanced, even more than 20 times that of the parent molecule. Among them, Y6-NO2 with the lowest-lying frontier molecular orbitals and the largest red-shifted absorption was selected to construct interfaces with the donor PM6. PM6/Y6-NO2 exhibits stronger interfacial interactions and enhanced charge-transfer characteristics compared with PM6/Y6. This work not only enhances the understanding of the structure-property relationship for acceptors but also offers a set of promising acceptors for high-performance OSCs
