    No full text
This research has its starting point in the intuition that control over the perimetral conditions of public space is one of the determining features for the activities and significations which configure the urban experience. In order to obtain concrete findings on the matter, it focuses on a historical range of spaces in the city of Seville, whose peculiarities add up to a rich and complex socio-cultural panorama. Starting from this selection, an analysis is projected on the relevance of their morphological developments, especially from the point of view of their quality and materiality as urban enclosures. Mapping the reality of these spaces as well as their representations, an effort is made to identify and disclose the processes involved either in generating new areas or in modifying existing ones. Finally, the study brings into focus the potential of these strategies as a tool for urban democracy and the contemporary demand for public space

Datos de un Ensayo Clínico Aleatorizado sobre Rehabilitación Multimodal en Deportistas con Tendinopatía Rotuliana

Patellar tendinopathy is a common injury among athletes, often impairing performance and delaying return to play. This randomized controlled trial examined the effects of an 8-week rehabilitation program combining eccentric training, stretching, and extracorporeal shockwave therapy on pain, neuromuscular function, and body composition in 29 athletes with confirmed tendinopathy. Compared to a placebo control group, the intervention led to significant improvements in pain perception and countermovement jump performance, alongside increases in peak power and load capacity in squat tests. No meaningful changes were found in body composition. These findings support the use of a time-efficient, multimodal approach to enhance tendon function and athletic performance without compromising training continuity

Impact of effectual propensity on entrepreneurial intention

    No full text
For decades, entrepreneurship has been promoted in academia and the tourism sector and seen as an opportunity for new business ventures. In entrepreneurial behaviour, effectual logic shows how individuals use their re- sources to create new opportunities. This paper aims to determine effectual propensity as an antecedent of entrepreneurial intentions. For this purpose, and based on the TPB model, we conducted our research with tourism students from Cadiz and Seville (Spain) universities with Smart PLS 3. The results show that effectual propensity influences entrepreneurial intentions and that attitude and perceived behavioural control mediate between subjective norms and intentions. Our research has a great added value since effectual propensity is studied for the first time as an antecedent of intentions in people who have never been entrepreneurs

    No full text
Lebrikizumab, a high affinity monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-13 (IL 13), has recently been approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD). Although phase 3 trials have demonstrated its efficacy and safety, real-world data remain scarce. We conducted a prospective, multicenter, observational study in Spain to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of lebrikizumab in daily cl inical practice. The protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Hospital Universitario San Cecilio (DERM_HUSC_2024_015), and all procedures followed the Declaration of Helsinki and Good Clinical Practice guidelines, with written informed consent obtained from all participants

Improvement of the Pseudo-Dynamic Testing Method for Buildings that are Seismically Protected by Means of Dissipative Devices

    No full text
The pseudo-dynamic method enables seismic testing of large-scale models by applying slow, varying forces, but it can introduce strain rate effects, especially significant for materials like rubber or silicon. This paper addresses silicone fluid viscous dampers and proposes a correction strategy developed by the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment to extend the method’s applicability. The strategy includes two novel algorithms: a linear filter and a neural network-based correction, both optimized with experimental data. Validation tests showed that these new methods outperform the previous linear correction, with the neural network-based approach being the most accurate and versatile

Positivity of periodic solutions for neutral-type impulsive neural networks with distributed delays and two parameters

    No full text
In this paper, the existence of positive periodic solutions of impulsive neutral-type neural networks with distributed delays and two parameters is discussed by applying the cone-theoretic fixed point theorem. Some sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the existence of multiple and single positive periodic solutions for the considered system. Several existence results are established. Finally, we exhibit an example to illustrate the applicability of the established results

    No full text

Optuna-optimized boosting models for predicting quality traits in multiple juice types using NIRS: Interpretability analysis via SHAP

    No full text
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a potential rapid and reagent-free technique for assessing the quality of fruit juices. However, most existing models focus on single juice type and rely on linear algorithms such as partial least squares regression (PLSR), which are often inadequate for handling the nonlinear and heterogeneous characteristics of diverse juice matrices. To address this challenge, this study developed boosting models optimized by Optuna, including XGBoost, AdaBoost, and CatBoost, to predict four key quality traits, namely acidity, total phenolic compounds (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and vitamin C across 4 types of fruit juice. The boosting models consistently outperformed PLSR, particularly for acidity, TPC, and vitamin C, achieving Rp2 values above 0.95 and RPD values exceeding 4.93. SHAP-based interpretability analysis further revealed that, in addition to typical NIRS absorption bands such as 1163 nm, 1169 nm, and 1193 nm located within the 1150–1210 nm region, non-classical regions including 1104 nm and several wavelengths between 1264 and 1322 nm also contributed positively to the model outputs. This demonstrates the capacity of boosting algorithms to capture informative spectral features from non-classical regions that are often overlooked by traditional linear models. Overall, this study demonstrates the value of combining automated hyperparameter optimization with interpretable machine learning, offering a robust and scalable framework for high-throughput, non-invasive quality control in the juice industry by NIRS

Video refereeing and football. Narratives regarding the power of technology at the service of major sport events

    No full text
Despite its popularity, football was one of the last sports to implement video replay as part of the regulations of its main competitive events. This article analyses the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in football, with a particular focus on Spain. The study also examines how VAR modifies the narrative of live broadcasts. To carry out the research, the authors have selected certain VAR situations from the 2023-24 LaLiga football season, which are available on the YouTube channels of LaLiga, DAZN, and Movistar. Based on the recordings chosen, it is possible to evaluate the way in which television reflects VAR situations in terms of form, aesthetics, and narration
