A rejtett cifra szín genetikai módszerrel való kimutatása mudi fajtában

    No full text

This thesis examined the spread of HAV via berries as the main contaminant vehicle based on a review of EU academic papers in the period up to 2015. Specifically, it focused on the characteristics of HAV, the nature of berries as a contaminant vehicle, the scale of potential spread of HAV contaminated berries and lastly the resolution strategies. Moreover, although there were current reports on this topic, it was only relevant to Australasia and United States of America

Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia – an important potential threat to the Salmonoid farming industry in Norway

    No full text
Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia is caused by an aquatic Rhabdoviridae called Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia Virus. It has several genotypes and sub-genotypes. It is a serious transmissible disease with a wide range of hosts, both in fresh water and marine habitats. VHSV is a huge threat to the salmonoid farming industry. The disease is distributed across the world, and in Norway several genotypes have been identified both in wild living and farmed salmonoid species. Several factors affect pathogenicity, such as host, life stage, immune status and water temperature. Virulence varies among the strains. Transmission is horizontal through direct or indirect contact with contaminated fish. Vertical transmission is not proven, but eggs can be contaminated. External mechanical vectors such as wild life has also been identified. Incubation and the course of the disease depends on the water temperature. Generally, higher mortality overall are seen in endemics in lower water temperature. Clinical signs include sudden death, lethargy, erratic swimming behaviour, exophthalmus, ascites and hemorrhages around the orbits or base of fins. Diagnosis of the disease is mainly done from tissue samples, detecting the viral RNA through RTPCR. Other methods can also be used, such as viral cultures, antibody detection, serology or immunohistochemistry. The diseases is listed as notifiable by the OIE, and several countries has several different eradication or control strategies implemented. In Norway, a continuous surveillance and control program is part of the eradication, as well as stamping-out strategies in case of outbreaks. Norway has not had any outbreaks since the 1970’s except in 2007. Several risk factors has been identified, among these are species proximity, species affinity to VHSV strains, proximity to other establishments or areas of infection, feeding with untreated fresh or frozen infected fish and water temperature and stress. Three main points are outlined as key for prevention, these are restriction of movement of fish on the farm, strict biosecurity and diagnosis and report of any abnormal signs in the fish. Other preventative measures might be vaccines in the future, but these are still being researched

Implementation of surveillance programme for bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) and bovine corona virus (BCoV) in the Norwegian cattle population

Bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) is the dominating cause of veterinary-treated disease among calves, and an important cause of antimicrobial use in dairy herds. Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) is a widely distributed pathogen, causing respiratory disease and diarrhea in calves and winter dysentery in adult cattle (Oma et al., 2016). Both BRSV and BCoV are considered widespread among cattle in Norway and worldwide. These two viral diseases have a negative impact on animal welfare, growth rate, feed utilization, reproduction performance, milk quality and use of antibiotics (Klem et al., 2016). A voluntary control-programme was therefore launched in 2016 by a joint cattle industry. The control programme is based on classification of herds as positive or negative based on antibodies against BRSV and BCoV, using a multiplex antibody ELISA (MVD-Enferplex BRSV/BCoV multiplex). Initial classification of dairy herds is based on bulk tank milk (BTM) testing, while pooled serum samples of young stock (4 individuals over 6 months of age) are used in beef herds or for follow-up samples in dairy herds with a positive BTM test. The current classification of all herds is available through the Norwegian Dairy Herd Recording Scheme (NDHRS). The core principle of the programme is to protect negative herds from introduction of virus through biosecurity measures. Negative herds are encouraged to only purchase animals from other negative herds. Animals from negative and positive herds are transported separately, and truck-drivers are encouraged to not enter the barn at pick-up. All producers are encouraged to have biosecurity barriers in place and must provide boots and change of clothes for visitors, including veterinarians. The aim of this thesis was to give an overview of the control programme of BRSV and BCoV in Norway with focus on the occurrence of herds testing negative and positive today

Egészséges kutyák szérum hepcidin szintjének vizsgálata LC/MS módszerrel

A hepcidin (hepatic antibactericid protein) egy májban termelődő antimikrobiális tulajdonságú fehérje, amely a vasháztartás szabályozásában fontos szerepet játszik. A hepcidin csökkenti a szérum vaskoncentrációját elsősorban a bélhámsejtek és makrofágok membránjában lévő ferroportin-csatornák vastranszportjának gátlásával. A szervezetet megtámadó mikroorganizmusok elől elzárja a számukra szükséges vasforrásokat, így segít eliminálni azokat. A szérum alacsony vaskoncentrációja miatt a vörös csontvelő vörösvérsejtképzése elégtelenné válik és nemregeneratív anaemia jön létre. A humán kutatások igazolták, hogy a heveny és idült gyulladásos betegeknél a szérum hepcidin szint megemelkedik, ezáltal szerepet játszva a krónikus vagy gyulladásos kórképek által kiváltott nemregeneratív anaemia kialakulásában. Jelen kutatásunk célja, hogy az egészséges kutyák szérum hepcidin koncentrációját a humán gyakorlatban „gold standardnak” minősülő, folyadék kromatográfiás – tömeg spektrometriás (LC/MS) módszerrel vizsgáljuk. Ennek eredményeképpen a későbbiekben az egészséges kutyák hepcidin szintjéhez tudjuk viszonyítani a beteg kutyák szérum hepcidin koncentrációját. A kutatásba 114 kutyát vontunk be. A mérés során kutya hepcidin standard reagenst használtunk.

Kutatásunkkal szeretnénk segítséget nyújtani a különféle bakteriális fertőzések terápiájához a kisállatgyógyászatban.

Helyszínenként 30 db kritikus pontnak ítélt helyről történt a mintavétel. Egy helyszíntől eltekintve az eredmények relevánsak voltak. A táptalajokon összesen 177 db Staphylococcus genusba, 297 db Enterococcus genusba tartozó és 34 db P. aeruginosa telep képződött

Longitudinal volumetric assessment of ventricle enlargement in dogs trained for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies

Recent studies suggest that clinically sound ventriculomegaly in dogs could be a preliminary or an arrested form of the clinically significant hydrocephalus. There are only a few longitudinal studies measuring ventricular volume changes over time, but assessment of cognitive abilities associated with the change has not been completed. Frontal lobe deficits, such as attention and inhibition have been shown to be the earliest signs of hydrocephalus in humans. We evaluated changes of ventricular volumes over time in fMRI trained dogs. Staying completely motionless in the MR scanner while awake, entails at least two important cognitive skills; attention and inhibition. Our research question was whether ventricular enlargement developing over time has any effect on canine cognitive ability. Seven healthy dogs 2-8 years old at the baseline scan and 4 years older at rescan participated in a rigorous and gradual training for staying motionless (< 1 mm) in the MR scanner without any sedation during a 6 minute-long structural MR sequence. On T1 structural images, volumetric analyses of the lateral ventricles were completed by software guided semi-automated tissue type segmentation

Extraction of a capped permanent 4th premolar tooth with fistulous tract on a standing sedated horse using minimally invasive intraalveolar dissection - Case report

SUMMARY Background: Extraction of teeth in standing, sedated horses with forceps are well described. In contrast to other methods of extraction like minimally invasive buccotomy, dental repulsion or Steinmann pin repulsion, surgical access through soft tissues or bone is not required for the oral dissection of equine cheek teeth. Objectives: The aim of the current article was to describe a novel extraction technique of equine cheek teeth using endoscopy-guided intra-alveolar dissection with rotating burs. The technique enables tooth removal when dental extraction with forceps is not feasible. To our knowledge this method has only been described in congress abstracts yet.Materials and Methods: A 3-year-old Quarter horse stallion was referred to the clinic with painful, egg-shaped swelling at the right cheek since one tooth had been extracted on the same side about 6 months earlier. On the sedated horse oral camera examination and radiological examination was performed. A fistulous tract extending approximately 70 mm in distoapical direction, reaching the apex of 108, could be probed next to 508 cap. After sedation and cap extraction, the 108 non-erupted was dissected in mesiodistal, sagittal and midline plane with rotating burs and finally fractured with root elevator to be able to remove. During hospitalisation the horse was administered NSAIDs’, AB and wound cleaning with plugs. Results and Discussion: On day 47 the alveolus was completely filled with granulation tissue and the horse went back into training. The swelling disappeared until the 6th month. At the last control (3.75 year after operation) dental drift of 109-111 mesially was diagnosed. A dentin and cementum composed malformed 108 erupted. The 106 tilted distally and closed to the malformed 108. As no inflamed peridental soft tissues were observed, the horse was sound and in training the malformed cheek tooth was not extracted. In general to successfully dissect equine premolar cheek teeth with an intraoral minimally invasive method, sharp burs of varying lengths (25-85 mm) mounted in a 90° angle on a handpiece, coupled to a flexible shaft of an electric engine are required
