Evaluation on College Students’ Anxiety and Social Media Usage during Shanghai Closure
As COVID-19 mutates, the highly infectious omicron mutants (BA. 5.2., BF. 7) tension shrouded China. Given the internet information explosion and youth social media addiction, observing the mental impact on college students during the 2022 Shanghai closure is worthwhile. A pilot survey study was conducted to explore the anxiety levels of college students during the closure. The sample size was limited to 101 second-year college students. In addition to demographics, the survey involved the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, self-perceived COVID-19 anxiety, frequency of COVID-19 information reception, number of social media accounts, and number of electronic devices. Though 68.4% of students equipped with two electronic devices (N = 95) exceeded the students with only one electronic device, a Chi-square test showed that students with only one electronic device had the highest anxiety index (mean = 50). Further, the Kruskal-Wallis test indicated that the number of electronic devices affected the students’ anxiety level (p = 0.027) while social media membership did not (p = 0.565). As a result, it was suggested that social media usage and pandemic information inputs among college students were significant concerns that required special attention from the government, schools, teachers, and families
Developing 5G+VR Curriculum Resources to Promote Education Research
Financial literacy education is a crucial aspect of school moral education. With the support of 5G network technology and environment, integrating 5G+VR technology into financial literacy courses has become a new challenge. This study aims to enrich students’ learning experience, promote education reform, and bring a new perspective to financial literacy education research by creating financial literacy education scenes. In the context of financial literacy learning, games are a fast and effective learning tool. The subject of this research is to use the visual and interactive features of AR/VR to design a game-based teaching scene that is consistent with the teaching content, attractive, and stimulates students’ interest in learning to improve the learning effect. With the help of 5G+VR technology, students’ classroom experience has transformed from 2D to 3D, from the plane content presented in textbooks and blackboards to more three-dimensional content. For some abstract or invisible content, AR/VR can display visually, which helps to improve cognition and understanding. The specific development process includes three parts. First, determining the development content and designing the script based on the course content and teaching objectives. The second part is communicating with the design company to carry out specific scene development, creating VR scene buildings, objects, characters, etc., and optimizing the scene design. Finally, with the cooperation of communication equipment providers, content providers, and schools, installation and commissioning are completed

Factors Affecting High School Students’ Motivation and Career Interest in STEM Fields and Their Modeling
This study aims to investigate the motivation and career interest in STEM fields of high school students enrolled in public schools in the districts of Kayseri in Turkey according to various factors, to ascertain the relationship between the two variables, and to present a model for the relationship between the variables. The causal-comparative research and correlation (relational) research designs, which are among the quantitative research designs, were used in this study, which involved 1,667 students from five high education institutions situated. The research employed the Career Interest Scale in STEM Fields and the Motivation Scale in STEM Fields to gather data. It has been found that students whose favorite and most successful course is about STEM have much higher motivation and career interest in STEM fields than the other pupils. According to the study, students who are considering majoring in one of the university’s STEM fields have much higher motivation and career interest in STEM fields than other students do in general. Additionally, the connection between motivation and career interest in STEM fields was looked at. According to research, students’ motivation in STEM fields accounts for 70% of changes in their career interests in those fields

Inquiry-based Learning in Junior Secondary Geography Education: A Lesson Analysis of China’s Natural Resources Teaching
This paper is a lesson study of the instruction of China’s Natural Resources (the third unit of eighth-grade geography), and its objective is to examine the efficacy of inquiry-based learning in geography education. In the experimental lesson, we reorganized the teaching content by integrating the learning materials from the four sections of Natural Resources Overview, Land Resources, Water Resources, and Marine Resources in the unit. With proposed real-world situations and learning tasks, students posed research questions and conducted independent inquiry into issues such as the characteristics, distribution, and utilization of Chinese natural resources, as well as the existing problems. In this procedure, students gained the right methods and skills for geographical study, thereby enhancing their academic competency in geography
Effects of After-School Programs on Student Cognitive and Non-Cognitive Abilities: A Meta-Analysis Based on 37 Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Studies
The after-school program is a crucial initiative for implementing the Double Reduction policy; however, prior research has not provided conclusive evidence on whether extended school hours contribute to students’ cognitive and non-cognitive development or on which types of after-school services are more beneficial for student development. This study analyzed 37 after-school programs from 18 publications using meta-analytic techniques, and the results indicated that participation in after-school programs had positive effects on student cognitive and non-cognitive development despite the small effect size (d = 0.327, p = 0.000). The decomposition of the effects of after-school programs revealed that they had modestly positive effects on academic achievement (d = 0.369) and social-emotional competence (d = 0.220). In addition, the analysis of moderating variables revealed that socioeconomic status, educational phase, number of after-school service days per week, sample size, and testing instrument all influenced the after-school program effects. This study concludes, based on the results of the meta-analysis, that there should be a balanced consideration of the development of student cognitive and non-cognitive abilities in planning after-school service, a substantial variety of activities in after-school programs, a flexible adoption of diverse after-school programs, and a reasonable participation frequency in after-school service
