    Get PDF
Urbanization is a crucial factor in economic growth and common prosperity and thus an inevitable pathway to a nation’s modernization. To achieve the goal of common prosperity of Chinese society as a whole, it is imperative to enhance the education level of its farmers, accelerate the construction of the new countryside, and develop modern, large-scale agriculture, so as to liberate more farmers from the agricultural labor and allow them to enter the secondary and tertiary sectors of economy that provide higher incomes. This study seeks to verify the promotional effect of education on the urbanization level by utilizing the provincial-level panel data from 2005 to 2020 in China. The two-way fixed effects model is adopted in the analysis. Research findings include that: (i) Investment in education has substantial promotional effects on the urbanization level; (ii) Economic growth and technological advancement significantly advances the progression of urbanization; (iii) The development level of the region can moderate the impact of education on urbanization

Does Preschool Education Experience Help Disadvantaged Students Become Academically Resilient? Empirical Evidence from CEPS Data

    Get PDF
Supporting socio-economically disadvantaged students to improve their academic resilience is vital in promoting social mobility and halting intergenerational transmission of poverty. Based on the baseline data 2013-2014 from the China Education Panel Survey (CEPS) database, this paper examined the impact of preschool education experience on academic resilience of disadvantaged students using coarsened exact matching (CEM) and hierarchical logistic regression. Research findings show that disadvantaged children have less access to preschool education than their advantaged peers, with a kindergarten attendance rate lower than 70%; that preschool education can significantly improve children’s cognitive ability and effectively predict academic resilience of disadvantaged students; and that preschool education is a better predictor of resilience of rural disadvantaged students than that of their urban counterparts. The government should reinforce subsidies for early childhood education that can serve as compensation for disadvantaged kids; and should further universalize preschool education to secure the opportunity of high-quality pre-primary school education for disadvantaged children

The year of 2022 was an extremely difficult year. In 2022, we have experienced a succession of challenges: The world has become more volatile because of escalated geopolitical conflicts, the deteriorated global security, and the aggravated division of camps; the global economic growth has slowed down, and most of the world’s major economies have been in the downturn trajectory; people’s production and life have been severely affected by food, energy, inflation, supply chain crises; the global temperature continued to rise and reached a new high by 2022 which was 1.15 ºC above the average temperature before the industrial revolution; the COVID-19 epidemic has been plaguing the world, threatening people’s health and life. However, hard times will pass, as they always do. As Romain Rolland stated, “there should be two lights in everyone’s heart: the light of hope and the light of courage; with them, we will not be afraid of the deepest darkness and most fierce storms at sea,” with perseverance and determination, we have started a new year

    Get PDF
The implementation of life-oriented teaching has gained significant attention in the field of education. In the era of “Internet +”, education and teaching must make full use of its advantages to promote innovation and reform in education. The use of internet tools and thinking in chemistry teaching can optimize educational activities, align with contemporary students’ cognitive requirements, and bring chemistry closer to the times and life. This paper adopts the literature research method to analyze and summarize relevant literature on “Internet + Education” and “life-oriented teaching”, and then applies the findings to explore the application of “Internet +” in high school chemistry teaching. The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is a theoretical research that introduces the selected topic’s background and current status through relevant literature and materials. The second part systematically analyzes and summarizes the specific application of “Internet +” in teaching and the infiltration path of the concept of life in high school chemistry teaching based on existing research. The third part is the empirical research part, which carries out specific case design and preliminary implementation to analyze the implementation effect. Finally, the paper offers a pre-designed teaching model for reference in post-teaching research and teaching practice, based on the “wisdom classroom” teaching mode under the background of “Internet+”

A Comparative Analysis of Mechanisms for Preventing Adolescent Suicide in China and Japan

    Get PDF
China and Japan are both Asian countries that are geographically adjacent and share a common cultural heritage. Suicide is a significant public health concern in both countries. While Japan has established a relatively mature framework for suicide prevention, China lacks national suicide prevention mechanisms. This paper analyzes the disparity in adolescent suicide prevention between China and Japan so that China can learn from Japan’s experience in this area and develop effective, systematic mechanisms for the prevention and intervention of adolescent suicide

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to determine which features of the nature of science pre-service primary school teachers refer to while making a decision on a socioscientific issue at the end of the explicit reflective nature of science education. For this purpose, an exploratory qualitative research design was used in the study. The research group comprised 77 pre-service primary school teachers in their third year of studies at a public university. The study was carried out within the scope of the “Science and Technology Teaching” course. As a data collection tool, the socioscientific scenario “Babies with Three Parents” was used. Content analysis and descriptive analysis were used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the study, pre-service primary school teachers have a good level of ability to use the features of the nature of science, the changeable nature of scientific knowledge, and the fact that it is based on observation and experimentation when deciding on a socioscientific issue. Furthermore, pre-service class teachers primarily used the subjectivity and creativity features of scientific knowledge as well as the features of observation

A Comparison of Genetic versus Non-Genetic Contribution of Serotonin to Suicide

    Get PDF
Suicide is a complex and multifaceted public health issue that has been intensively studied to identify its contributing factors. Serotonin, a neurotransmitter essential for affective regulation and mood control, has been linked to suicidal propensity. Understanding the relative contribution of serotonin’s genetic versus non-genetic influences is essential for the development of effective preventive measures, given that the etiology of suicide involves both genetic and non-genetic factors. This review seeks to compare the influence of genetic and non-genetic factors on the association between serotonin and suicide risk. Examining serotonin-related gene polymorphisms, with a focus on the serotonin transporter gene, the serotonin receptor 1A, and the serotonin receptor 2A, genetic contributions are investigated. This review emphasizes the complex interplay between genetic and non-genetic contributions to serotonin’s role in suicide by synthesizing existing literature. Understanding these complex interactions can provide a comprehensive framework for targeted interventions and individualized methods of suicide prevention and mental health promotion. Future research should incorporate large-scale genetic studies, genetic and non-genetic interaction analyses, and longitudinal designs in order to further elucidate the complex relationship between serotonin and suicide risk

The Place of Intelligence Games in Philosophy and Logic Education

    Get PDF
Education is an applied field of science and so what is expected is that it must respond to the practical needs besides theoretical field. These needs are of importance with the indication of active nature of students in learning in 21st century. For that reason, it has started to give places for many applications in practice to increase the permeance of information by internalizing the theoretical side of education. One of the applications in question is intelligence games. Intelligence games is a tool for individuals in revealing their own potentials, in developing different and original strategies for the problems, in making a fast and true decision, and what is more in making them attain a systematic structure of thinking. Therefore, it would not be surprising to associate this tool with the education of philosophy and logic. It is because intelligence games are a material to be used in philosophy education in using philosophical knowledge and seeking for the solutions of philosophical problems; in using logic education in conveying true thinking ways to daily life, being aware of contradictions by thinking consistently and basing their thoughts. As a result, it is believed that intelligence games will make the theoretical-based structure practical in philosophy and logic education and will add variety with the current study

    Get PDF
As a result of the development of humanistic psychology in the 1960s, there has been a growing recognition that affective factors can significantly impact the outcomes of education (Lu, 2001). Affective factors in language learning, particularly in second language acquisition, have been reckoned as non-cognitive factors and along with cognitive factors, have sparked substantial attention among academics. Affective variables that may influence foreign language acquisition include a variety of emotions and feelings arising in foreign language classroom such as anxiety, fear, embarrassment, or sense of inferiority. Among them, second language anxiety has long been a popular topic in foreign language instruction research
