Is It Possible for Artificial Intelligence to Undermine the Root of Science?
Get PDFArtificial intelligence (AI) has brought about a paradigm shift in numerous industries and is persistently altering the methodology employed in scientific inquiry. Although AI has the potential to streamline specific facets of the scientific method, detractors contend that its integration could potentially erode the foundations of science. A potential issue arises when an excessive dependence on AI for data analysis and experimentation results in the erosion of human creativity and intuition as pivotal components in scientific breakthroughs. The propensity for fortuitous discoveries and innovative concepts to arise from ostensibly unrelated disciplines may be impeded by AI’s emphasis on identifying patterns in preexisting data sets. Moreover, algorithms employed in AI systems that rely on training data possess an intrinsic bias, which may introduce intangible prejudices into scientific investigation. Furthermore, it is critical to specify that AI is incapable of engaging in debates or comprehending profound philosophical inquiries pertaining to the fundamental principles that govern our universe. As a result, although AI has the potential to significantly aid scientists in their endeavors, it must be implemented with prudence to guarantee that it enhances rather than erodes the fundamental tenets and character of scientific investigation.

Bibliometric Analysis of Articles Related Misconception in Biology by Country and Journal
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to reveal the content analysis and trends of studies on misconceptions in biology education. Within the scope of the research, articles containing misconceptions about biology were accessed from the Scopus database. “Biology and misconception” was searched in the title, abstract and keywords in the Scopus database on September 13, 2022. A total of 410 publications about misconceptions in biology education were found in the search. The years of accessed publications were determined between 1970 and 2022. A total of 410 publications were analyzed in the research, regardless of language. According to the data obtained, 53 countries and 143 journals published articles on misconceptions in biology. However, in order to obtain clearer data, 3 articles were determined as the minimum number of articles for a country, and 31 countries and 27 journals were considered in this research. According to this research, in terms of the number of documents, the USA is the most published country with 199 articles, and Turkey is the second most published country with 39 studies. It was also revealed that the most cited countries were the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, respectively. “CBE Life Sciences Education” and “American Biology Teacher” journals were determined as the journals with the most publications on the subject. In addition, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, CBE Life Sciences Education, International Journal of Science Education, Journal of Biological Education, Evolution: Education and Outreach were identified as the most cited journals in the studies. The results of this study are thought to be important for the future development of studies on misconceptions in biology education.

Relatively well-accepted among them is the one that describe it as the process of seeking and interpreting evidence for learners and their teachers to determine where the learners are in their learning, where they need to go and how best to get there (Antoniou & James, 2014). As opposed to summative assessment, formative evaluation gives comprehensive evaluation and feedback throughout the learning process of students, with the purpose of assisting students in identifying learning gaps, modifying learning methods, and enhancing learning outcomes. Common forms of formative assessment include quizzes, observation records, face-to-face conversations, questionnaires, feedback, student self-assessment, etc. It is meant to evaluate not only students’ academic performance but also their progress in learning attitudes, learning strategies, emotional skills, and other aspects (Wu, 2023)
