A Study on Health Risks and Residents' Perception of Groundwater Quality (Case Study : Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon) ( Ei Thandar Aung, 2025)
This study assesses health risks and associated groundwater quality in Mya Sein
Yaung Residence, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, alongside public perception and
awareness of contamination. Utilizing a descriptive analysis, water samples were tested
for chemical and biological contaminants, and household surveys were conducted.
Findings show two thirds of respondents attributing health problems to their water
source and mostly reporting frequent clinic visits due to water-related illnesses. More
than one-third, reported experiencing kidney problems. Awareness of contamination is
high. Most participants understand the main causes of contamination, primarily
industrial waste and agricultural chemicals. Despite receiving information or support
from government agencies and NGOs, a few perceive their water as very safe. While
concern and willingness for preventive action are strong, practical knowledge about
water testing and access to official guidance remain limited. These findings underscore
the urgent need for improved access to water testing, targeted health education, and
regulations to reduce health risks
Assessment on Upgrading Rail Way Stations in Yangon (Case Study: Hlaing Township) (Thandar Aung, 2025)
This study examines the current development of railway infrastructure,
with a particular focus on upgrading railway stations in Hlaing Township as part of the
Yangon Circular Railway System and to analyze the effectiveness and progress of the
station development upgrades. Primary data were gathered through surveys and
interviews with residents, passengers, and railway staff, while secondary data came
from Myanmar Railways. Findings reveal that station upgrades enhanced passenger
experiences through better lighting, cleanliness, and safety. However, issues remain,
including limited seating, lack of information, and poor conditions on trains. Residents
expressed a desire for modern amenities such as digital displays, online ticketing, and
Wi-Fi. While infrastructure upgrades contribute positively to local development, the
study emphasizes the need for improved service quality, affordability, and equal
attention to all stations. Addressing these challenges through effective management and
passenger-focused services can foster public trust, increase railway usage, and support
sustainable urban development in Yangon

in Minhla Township, Bago Division, Myanmar. To accomplish these objectives,
primary and secondary data were used in this study. A sample of 120 rice farmers across
eight villages were selected by using simple random sampling method. The primary
data were collected by using structured questionnaire with five-point Likert scale items.
In-depth interview was also conducted with rice farmers. Secondary data was obtained
relevant text book, previous research and internet websites. The findings indicate that
rainfall unpredictability, rising temperatures, and increased frequency of extreme
weather events have significantly disrupted traditional rice farming. While many
farmers have adapted their planting calendars and adopted climate-resilient rice
