Sustainable Development Goals in libraries of the German-speaking countries
“How did the release of the Agenda 2030 with its17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) affect libraries in German-speaking regions?” was the leading research question in my bachelor thesis. To analyse the situation, I did a case study, based on a literature review.Findings are that the SDG publication influenced particularly the library associations in Germany and Switzerland. Most actual libraries, though, are probably not familiar yet with the SDGs. Nevertheless, there exists in Austria an outstanding model in (library-)cooperation and SDG platform Bildung 2030. As there are hardly any articles about medical libraries contributing to the SDG discussion, there is unused potential for medical and health libraries to contribute. High potential lies within cooperation between public libraries and medical and health libraries, to spread health literacy to the public

Evidence basing the study environment needs at a small specialist university by using design thinking methods
The article describes a case study, using design thinking methods, to evidence base the renovation of two buildings on the university campus. The project involves several stake holders and is looking at the general study environment, and not only the library space. In the discussion the author compares the processes from evidence based library and information practice, design thinking methods and a hybrid model, as well as outlines some learning points from the project
The Medical Library at Umeå University during the coronavirus pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic changed the days rather dramatically for the universities in March this year and still does. In the Medical Library at Umeå University we had to change the library service in many ways from one week to another. This article shows how we managed to have the library open for our customers; while keeping students, faculty and hospital staff safe. We did not close down as libraries in many countries did and also many university libraries in Sweden
Pivotal in a pandemic: an interview with Ian Roberts, head of the WHO libraries
This interview with the head of the World Health Organization’s Library Service took place in May 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The interview provides a snapshot of how COVID-19 has affected the library service in an organization which is at the centre of disseminating information and providing leadership during the pandemic. In the interview, various aspects of managing a library service during a pandemic are discussed, including: how the library copes with high demand; how they maintain a high-quality search and retrieval service; how they make use of partnerships; what are the emerging "lessons learned" for their service; and how they try to take care of their well-being
Moving the Lausanne medical library to a new location: shaping spaces, tailoring services
Moving the Lausanne medical library to a new location was the opportunity to investigate how to best support the educational, training, clinical and research needs of both the Medical Faculty and the medical community across all disciplines. Our analysis is based on a tridimensional approach. First, we examine the role of the library as space provider, especially for the students and educational staff. Second, we reflect to what extent we could improve as an online resources provider and trim the print collection. Finally, we underline the importance to position the library as solution provider geared towards clinicians and researchers
