Pool Boiling Dataset: Synchronized Acoustic, Optical, and Thermal Measurements for Steady-State and Transient Heat Loads.

    No full text
The datasets were collected from different nanostructured surfaces subjected to pool boiling experiments. These surfaces include polished copper, polished microchannel, and copper foams electrodeposited at different pHs, which are, pH 0, pH 10, and pH 12. These pool boiling tests were run in two different heat loading conditions including steady state and transient ramp-up heat load. A multimodal sensing dataset was collected where temperature, heat flux, and acoustics were collected in a synchronized manner using LabVIEW, boiling videos via Phantom Camera Control (PCC), and AE data using AEwin software developed by Physical Acoustics Corporation

Experimental study on the effect of Coumarone resin on the performance of SBS-modified asphalt

    No full text
In order to enhance the storage stability and road performance of asphalt modified with Styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) copolymers, modified asphalt samples were prepared with an inexpensive and excellent performance of solid Coumarone resin together with SBS, to explore the effect of Coumarone resin dosage on the performance of SBS modified asphalt. The storage stability of the composite modified asphalt was evaluated by segregation test; the high-temperature performance and permanent deformation resistance of the composite modified asphalt were investigated with the aid of Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) and Multiple Stress Creep (MSCR) tests; the low-temperature performance of the composite modified asphalt was tested by the Bending Beam Rheology (BBR) test. Fluorescence microscopy was used to observe the microstructure of the composite modified asphalt, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was employed to investigate the changes in chemical structure during the modification process

Replication Data for: Presidential Policymaking, 1877-2020

    No full text
While presidents frequently create new policies through unilateral power, empirical scholarship generally focuses on executive orders and overlooks other categories of directives. We use new data on more than 50,000 unilateral directives issued between 1877 and 2020 and machine learning techniques to measure their substantive importance and issue areas. Our measures reveal significant increases in unilateral activity over time, driven largely by increases in foreign affairs and through the substitution of memoranda for executive orders. We use our measures to formally evaluate the historical development of the unilateral presidency and reassess theoretical claims about public opinion and unilateral power. Our research provides new evidence about variation in and the use of presidential authority and opens new avenues for empirical inquiry

Selected personality data from the SAPA-Project: 01Jan2018 to 31Dec2018

    No full text
Like prior data posted in this repository, these data were collected as part of an initiative to evaluate the structure of personality, specific in the broad domain of temperament. In the context of modern personality theory, temperament is typically construed in terms of the Big Five (Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Openness, and Extraversion) though these data cover a wide range of additional constructs, including many that are much more narrow and specific. Data were collected from more than 450,000 visitors to the SAPA-Project website between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Participants were administered a mixture of survey content that was partially consistent across all respondents and partially distinct. The consistent portion included the SAPA Personality Inventory, various measures from the International Cognitive Ability Resource, and a range of demographic and psychographic questions. Each participant was also administered a random sampling of items from a much larger pool of psychosocial surveys. The data are available in rdata format and are accompanied by documentation stored as a text file. Re-use potential include many types of structural and correlational analyses for personality and personality-outcomes research
