Towards an Objective and High-throughput Quantification Method for Spheroid Invasion Assays

    No full text
Multicellular spheroid invasion assays are a useful tool for modeling 3D cell invasion behavior, so the ability to reproducibly and subjectively quantify images of invading spheroids is critical for spheroid invasion analysis. This dataset contains images of spheroids used in the related publication which we quantified using the MATLAB script provided in Github (link in publication). These images are the original 24-bit z-slice images obtained from the Keyence BZ-X series microscope. As described in the publication, the microscope analyzer software was used to generate max projection images which were then used for analysis

Replication Data for: Do Politicians Appeal to Discrete Emotions? The Effect of Wind Turbine Construction on Elite Discourse

    No full text
Do political actors appeal to discrete emotions? In this study, I investigate how politicians adapt their emotional rhetoric to increased political conflict over climate change. To do so, I apply transformer-based machine learning classifier to a large dataset of text data coming from German Members of Parliament in order to measure discrete emotional appeals. Relying on staggered difference-in-difference models, I find robust results showing that local construc- tions of wind turbines cause the strongest opponents of climate change mitigation policies (radical-right MPs) to appeal to a specific negative moral emotion. Less robust evidence sug- gests a similar effect for the strongest proponents (Green MPs), however, appealing to a dif- ferent discrete emotion. The effects range between 0.5 to 1.5 percentage points per additional wind turbine. These findings indicate the importance of distinct emotional framing in politi- cal communication with important implications for societal polarization and healthy political discourse

Ethiopia Double-Fortified Salt containing Iodine and Folic Acid Survey

    No full text
The first phase of the Ethiopia Double-Fortified Salt containing Iodine and Folic Acid Survey was conducted to examine women’s discretionary salt intakes and household salt utilization. It assesses the folate, iodine, and hematological status of non-pregnant women of reproductive age (WRA) in Gimbichu Woreda, which is located in the central highlands of the Oromia region, along with markers of their iron, vitamin B12, thiamine, riboflavin, and vitamin A status

Who Is Responsible for the Emergency Aid? Cash Transfer and Presidential Approval During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Brazil

    No full text
Studies show that cash transfer programs increase incumbent approval through their financial impact and clear association with the executive. But does this effect hold when it is the legislature rather than the incumbent proposing the program? Amid the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, more than 60 million Brazilians received an emergency assistance payment that was proposed by Congress against resistance from the executive. This study leverages this unique case to examine if cash transfer programs affect presidential approval under circumstances of unclear responsibility. Survey results showed that while approval ratings increased, the public was divided about who was responsible for the program. Moreover, a survey-experiment that informed respondents about the negotiations between the president and Congress found that information improves views about Congress but does not affect presidential approval. The results suggest that even cash transfer programs may promote limited vertical accountability in contexts of unclear policy responsibility
