OSF project from the publication: López-Moraga, A., Luyten, L. & Beckers, T. Generalization and extinction of platform-mediated avoidance in male and female rats. Sci Rep 15, 9730 (2025). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-025-94265-x Understanding anxiety-related disorders can be advanced by studying the fear learning mechanisms implicated in the transition from adaptive to maladaptive fear. Individuals with anxiety disorders often show impaired fear extinction, pervasive avoidance, and overgeneralization of fear. While these characteristics are usually studied in isolation, their interactions are less understood. We modified the platform-mediated avoidance task to chart avoidance, generalization, and extinction in male and female rats. Male rats acquired avoidance, showed a gradient of generalization, and reduced avoidance and fear under extinction. Female rats also learned avoidance, showed gradual generalization, and extinction of defensive behaviors. Sex differences emerged in extinction learning but were subtler than expected. We present an open-source automated system for processing DeepLabCut and SimBA output to score avoidance and freezing behavior. This task effectively probes avoidance, generalization, and extinction of fear in rats, and our automated scoring approach offers a effective method to quantify defensive behaviors

Flooding with disinformation - joint experiment

    No full text
Disinformation – intentionally deceptive content – is said to be deployed by professionals much like a flood (Pomerantsev, 2019; Posard et al., 2019): a large amount of incompatible content hitting as many communication channels as possible. In military studies, this is sometimes referred to as “censorship through noise” (Pynnöniemi & Rácz, 2016), or the “firehose of falsehood” model (Paul & Matthews, 2016). Former White House chief-strategist Steve Bannon summarised the strategy by stating: “The way to deal with them [the media] is to flood the zone with shit” (Stelter, 2021)

How interprofessional education is advancing in the health field: a scoping review

    No full text
It is imperative to start considering an organizational dynamic in the healthcare field, with a therapeutic bond but also with preventive approaches. The focus should be on teams that are trained and educated through longitudinal actions, and, when necessary, referring to specialized therapeutic support after determination by the multidisciplinary team. In this way, by creating this system of horizontal/longitudinal vision, it is possible to establish a strong bond between the team and the user, moving away from the centralized view of one professional making decisions about all aspects of the individual user, where often the complaint is linked to the professional’s area of expertise

Experimental Study on the Relationship Between Interaction Styles in Virtual Reality Cooking Games and Food Choices

    No full text
This study investigates how interaction styles in virtual reality (VR) cooking games affect food choices. We will conduct two experiments within the same VR cooking game. The first experiment assesses the impact of preparing healthy versus unhealthy foods on participants' subsequent food choices. The second experiment explores the influence of orderly versus cluttered cooking manners, including tasks like ingredient preparation, cooking, plating, and kitchen clean-up, on food selection. The overall aim is to understand how VR cooking experiences might shape real-life dietary decisions and provide insights for promoting healthier eating behaviors
