    Rentabilidade de cenoura orgânica influenciada por manejos de solo e tipos de semeadura

    The economic assessment of the agricultural activity is essential to determine its viability. In this scenario, thisstudy aimed to assess the economic profitability of organic carrot cultivation under different weed control andsowing methods. The experiment was conducted in Rio Branco, AC, from June to September 2018, and wasfollowed a randomized block design set up in 4 x 3 split-plots corresponding to four control methods: deadplant mulching, plastic mulching, solarization, and bare ground. There were also three types of sowing: direct,indirect, and pre-germinated. Harvest was performed 81 days after planting and, after the yield evaluation,the following economic indicators were evaluated: costs, revenues, profitability, profit margin, family laborremuneration, and production to cover costs. Considering the costs with inputs and services as of 2018 and thetechnical coefficients obtained during the experiment, the profit margin was higher than other investments,such as savings accounts. All treatments showed positive profitability, and the B/C ratio was higher than 1,0.Plastic mulching resulted in the highest revenues. The daily wage paid for family labor reached R 621.26.Solarization with indirect sowing demanded the highest yield to cover total costs. Regardless of the controlmethod and type of sowing, the profitability is positive and shows a supernormal profit. Plastic mulching alliedto direct and pre-germinated sowing increase the revenues.A avaliação econômica da atividade agrícola é importante para determinar sua viabilidade. Assim o objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a rentabilidade econômica do cultivo orgânico de cenoura, sob manejos de solo e diferentes semeadura. O experimento foi realizado em Rio Branco, AC, entre junho e setembro de 2018. Instalado em delineamento em blocos casualizados, em parcelas subdivididas, sendo quatro manejos: cobertura vegetal morta, cobertura plástica “mulching”, solarização e solo nu; e três tipos de semeadura: direta, indireta e pré-germinada. Aos 81 dias foi realizada a colheita e após a avaliação da produtividade, foram avaliados os indicadores econômicos: custos, receitas, rentabilidade, margem de lucro, remuneração de mão-de-obra familiar e produção para cobertura de custos. Considerando os custos com insumos e serviços vigente em 2018 e os coeficientes técnicos obtidos durante o experimento. A margem de lucro foi superior a outros investimentos, como a poupança. Todos os tratamentos tiveram rentabilidade positiva, bem como para todos a relação B/C foi superior a 1,0.  A proteção do solo com plástico “mulching” proporcionou as maiores receitas. A diária paga à mão-de-obra da família alcançou R 621,26. A solarização com semeadura indireta exigiu maior produtividade para cobertura do custo total. Independente do manejo do solo e tipo de semeadura, a rentabilidade é positiva e apresenta lucro supernormal.     The objective of this study was to assess the efficiency of Trichoderma harzianum and Bacillus subtilis on postharvest control of anthracnose, the effects on postharvest quality in ‘Nanicão’ bananas, and the sensory acceptance of fruits. In vitro and in vivo tests were performed. The in vitro tests included the following treatments: control (distilled water), T. harzianum, B. subtilis, and thiabendazole. In vitro tests consisted of pairing Colletotrichum musae with T. harzianum and B. subtilis by daily measuring the mycelial growth of C. musae and by counting the spore germination of C. musae. For in vivo tests, the treatments were control (distilled water), T. harzianum, B. subtilis, T. harzianum + B. subtilis, and thiabendazole. In vivo tests consisted of a daily evaluation of the incidence and severity of anthracnose in ‘Nanicão’ bananas. Some physicochemical characteristics of fruits were evaluated (weight loss, color, pulp firmness, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), pH, and SS/TA ratio), as well as the sensory acceptance of bananas. Based on the results, the application of T. harzianum in ‘Nanicão’ bananas was efficient in decreasing the severity of anthracnose caused by C. musae, but treatments with biological control agents were inefficient in this process. On postharvest quality, treatments with biological control agents seem to have accelerated the maturation process. However, results from the sensory analysis showed that fruit acceptance was not affected

    This work aimed to evaluate the post-harvest quality of fruits of the fig cultivar ‘Roxo de Valinhos’ in two pruningtimes and three ripening stages, under the edaphoclimatic conditions of the semiarid region of the Piauí state.The experiment was carried out in the educational orchard of the Federal University of Piauí, Campus ProfessoraCinobelina Elvas, Bom Jesus, Piauí, Brazil. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, with 4 replications,in a 2 x 3 factorial scheme, with treatments corresponding to two pruning times (April 2018, of the rainy season,and December 2018, the beginning of the rainy season) and three fruit ripening stages (Green Intermediate,and Ripe), using 5 fruits per experimental plot and performing chemical analyzes in triplicate. The pruningcarried out in April (end of the rainy season) significantly influenced the post-harvest quality of the fig fruits, withgreater weight (34.17 g fruits), transverse diameter (42.21 mm), luminosity (57.92°), and HUE angle (80.73° ), whencompared to the pruning carried out in December (beginning of the rainy season), with weight (26.58 g fruits),transversal diameter (39.83 mm), luminosity (52.53°), and HUE angle (73.60°). The cultivation of fig trees in thesemiarid region of Piauí showed promising results with the anticipation of the crop cycle with pruning performedin the dry season.Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade pós-colheita de frutos da cultivar de figo \u27Roxo de Valinhos\u27 em duas épocas de poda e três estádios de amadurecimento, nas condições edafoclimáticas do semiárido piauiense. O experimento foi realizado no pomar educacional da Universidade Federal do Piauí, Campus Professora Cinobelina Elvas, Bom Jesus, Piauí, Brasil. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado (CRD), com 4 repetições, em esquema fatorial 2 x 3, com tratamentos correspondentes a duas épocas de poda (abril de 2018, final do período chuvoso e dezembro de 2018, início do período chuvoso) e três frutos. estágios de maturação (Verde, Intermediário e Maduro), utilizando 5 frutos por parcela experimental e realizando análises químicas em triplicata. A poda realizada em abril (final do período chuvoso) influenciou significativamente na qualidade pós-colheita dos frutos do figo, com maior peso (34,17 g frutos), diâmetro transversal (42,21 mm), luminosidade (57,92 °) e ângulo HUE.     Physiological quality of ‘BRS’ passion fruit seeds grown at different altitudes and storage environments

    The aim of this work was to study the physiological quality of ‘BRS’ passion fruit seeds grown at different altitudes stored in cold chamber and in natural environment for six months.  Hybrid passion fruit seeds (BRS Gigante Amarelo, BRS Sol do Cerrado and BRS Rubi do Cerrado) grown at three altitudes (104; 711; 1016 meters) in the southern region of the state of Espírito Santo were used. Germination was carried out in germitest paper rolls, placed in BOD-type germination chambers at temperature of 20-30 ºC. The following parameters were analyzed: germination, germination speed index, shoot and root length and dry mass of seedlings. The experimental design used was completely randomized in a factorial scheme with split plot in time 4x(3x3) (four bimonthly analyses x three hybrids x three altitudes), with two independent storage environments and three replicates of 100 seeds. Hybrid Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa seeds can be stored in natural environment or cold chamber. Hybrid yellow passion fruit seeds grown at altitudes of 104 and 711 meters show higher germination and vigor percentages. Hybrid ‘Gigante Amarelo’ seeds had lower averages for variables under study, regardless of altitude. Hybrid ‘Rubi do Cerrado’ seeds grown at altitude of 1016 meters and hybrid ‘Sol do Cerrado’ seeds grown at altitudes of 104 and 711 meters have higher germination and vigor percentages and can be stored for 180 days in natural environment or cold chamber without viability loss.     A interferência de plantas espontâneas é um grande problema na olericultura, sendo necessárias técnicas viáveis para controle. Assim o objetivo deste trabalho avaliar o uso de coberturas de solo e tipos de semeadura na produtividade de cenoura orgânica. O experimento foi realizado no Acre, entre julho e setembro de 2018, utilizando-se a cultivar Brasília Irecê. Instalado no delineamento em blocos casualizados, em parcelas subdivididas 4 x 3, com quatro métodos de controle de plantas espontâneas: solo nu; cobertura morta vegetal; cobertura plástica “mulching” e solarização; e três tipos de semeadura: semeadura direta, semeadura indireta e sementes pré-germinadas. As avaliações foram realizadas aos 81 dias. A maior produtividade comercial orgânica foi obtida em solo com cobertura plástica mulching, em semeadura direta (44,87 t ha-1) e pré-germinada (44,39 t ha-1). Enquanto a solarização e a cobertura morta vegetal foram eficientes na produtividade comercial convencional. A supressão de plantas espontânea foi maior em solo protegido com cobertura, morta vegetal e plástica “mulching”. O uso de cobertura plástica “mulching”, aliada à semeadura direta e pré-germinada, eleva a produtividade de cenoura orgânica

    Germination tests are essential tools in the characterization of seed lots. However, there is no prescription for conducting the germination test for Parapiptadenia blanchetii (Benth.). The information about the species is limited to taxonomic studies and distribution area. This study aimed to determine the duration of the germination test for P. blanchetii seeds, using segmented regression. The experiment was carried out in temperatures of 20, 25, 30 and 35 °C, and four replications of 25 seeds. The germination curve was adjusted by response-plateau regression models: linear segmented with plateau (LPM) and quadratic segmented with plateau (QPM). For germination, the QPM showed the best adjustment at 20 °C and 25 °C. However, at temperatures of 30 °C and 35 °C the performance of the two models was similar. For the formation of normal seedlings, the best fit of the data was in the QPM at temperatures of 25 °C and 30 °C, for the other temperatures the LPM showed better performance. The duration of germination tests depends on the germination criterion and the temperature. For germination tests, conducted at temperatures of 30 °C or 35 °C, for the criterion of root protrusion, a single count on the fourth day after sowing is recommended. To assess the formation of normal seedlings, it is suggested the first and second count, at six and nine days.Os testes de germinação são ferramentas indispensáveis na caracterização de lotes de sementes. Entretanto, não há prescrição para condução do teste de germinação para sementes de Parapiptadenia blanchetii (Benth.). As informações a respeito da espécie são limitadas a taxonomia e área de distribuição. O objetivo desse estudo foi determinar a duração do teste de germinação para sementes de P. blanchetii, com emprego de regressão segmentada. O experimento foi conduzido nas temperaturas de 20, 25, 30 e 35 °C, e quatro repetições de 25 sementes.  A curva de germinação foi ajustada por modelos de regressão response-platô: linear segmentado com platô (MPL) e o quadrático segmentado com platô (MPQ). Para a germinação, o MPQ apresentou o melhor ajuste a 20 °C e 25 °C. No entanto, nas temperaturas de 30 °C e 35 °C o desempenho dos dois modelos foi semelhante. Para a formação de plântulas normais o melhor ajuste dos dados foi no MPQ nas temperaturas de 25 °C e 30 °C, nas demais temperaturas o MPL apresentou melhor desempenho. A duração dos testes de germinação depende do critério de germinação e da temperatura. Para os testes de germinação, realizados em temperaturas de 30 °C ou 35 °C, ao adotar a protrusão radicular como critério de germinação, recomenda-se única contagem no quarto dia após a semeadura.     Prediction of genetic gains in sweet potato genotypes by polycross

    Sweet potato crops present a wide genetic diversity, but genetic parameters of populations should be estimated in breeding programs, mainly when the selection is focused on multiple traits. Thus, the objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and select clones via a selection index in a sweet potato population obtained from uncontrolled crosses. The experiment was carried out in Ilha Solteira, Sao Paulo, Brazil, from June to November 2020, to evaluate 144 clones and three controls, totaling 147 treatments. A randomized block design was used, with two replications and three plants per plot. The data were analyzed through mixed modeling (REML/BLUP), and the selection index proposed by Mulamba & Mock was applied using a selection pressure of 17.3% for the selection of superior clones. The direct selection enabled a higher prediction of gains for each trait, but the joint analysis maximized the selection gains for all traits of interest. Clones 38, 63, 79, 77, and 5 are recommended, among the selected clones, for further stages of sweet potato breeding focused on improving traits for production and table consumption.   Keywords: Genetic parameters, Genetic variability, Ipomoea batatas (L.)     Floral, reproductive, and pollination biology of Eugenia myrcianthes Nied.

    Studies on species of the family Myrtaceae are mostly related to floristic surveys, reproduction involving large plant communities, and family taxonomy. Thus, the objective of this study was to elucidate aspects of the floral and reproductive biology, as well as floral visitors of ubajai (Eugenia myrcianthes Nied.). Studies were conducted on floral morphology and morphometry, identification of nectaries and structures attractive to floral visitors, characterization of floral visitors, stigma receptivity, and androecium maturation, pollen storage, in vitro viability testing, and characterization of the reproductive system. Ubajai flowers open at approximately 6:00 a.m., and their anthers are the main attractive structure to floral visitors. The main floral visitors and effective pollinators of ubajai are honeybees (Apis mellifera). The addition of 40% sucrose to the culture medium, using fresh pre-anthesis pollen, allows for a 90% germination rate. Ubajai pollen is recalcitrant, thus, it loses viability before 30 days of storage, even when stored in a refrigerator, freezer, liquid nitrogen, or natural environment.     Knowledge of the anatomical structures of the seed and embryo can contribute to understanding thegermination process and interpreting germination and vigor tests. Thus, the objective of this study was to describemorphologically the diaspores (seeds with adhered endocarp) and seedlings of Livistona chinensis. Biometricparameters of the diaspores (width, length, weight of one thousand diaspores, and number of diaspores kg-1) were collected, and their water content was measured. One hundred diaspores were sown in plastic trayscontaining vermiculite as a substrate. To describe the morphology of the diaspore and the initial seedlinggrowth, evaluations were performed by monitoring the germination process from the first week, at each stageof development, until the emergence of the first eophyll. Morphological descriptions were based on specificterminology and schematized with the aid of a clear camera attached to a stereomicroscope. Germinationis characterized as being of the remote tubular type. The diaspores have an oval shape with an averagelength of 16.37 mm and an average width of 10.25 mm, and the seeds are albuminous with a rigid endosperm,peripheral lateral cone-shaped embryo, and little differentiation. The first leaf is simple and lanceolate, withparallel venation, composed of broad veins arranged longitudinal.O conhecimento das estruturas anatômicas da semente e do embrião podem contribuir para a compreensão do processo germinativo e na interpretação de testes de germinação e vigor. Dessa forma, objetivou-se descrever morfologicamente os diásporos (sementes com o endocarpo aderido) e plântulas de Livistona chinensis. Foram coletados dados dos parâmetros biométricos dos diásporos (largura, comprimento, peso de mil diásporos e número de diásporos kg-1), bem como foram realizadas mensurações do teor de água destes. Foram semeados 100 diásporos em bandejas de plástico contendo como substrato a vermiculita®. Para a descrição da morfologia do diásporo e do crescimento inicial da plântula, as avaliações foram realizadas acompanhando o processo germinativo, a partir da primeira semana, em cada estádio de desenvolvimento, até a emissão do primeiro eófilo. As descrições morfológicas foram baseadas em terminologia específica e esquematizados com auxílio de câmara clara acoplada ao estereomicroscópio. A germinação é caracterizada como sendo do tipo remota tubular. Os diásporos apresentam forma oval e as sementes são albuminosas, com endosperma rígido, embrião lateral periférico, cônico e pouco diferenciado. An absolute hybrid with a semi-determined growth was used. It was grown in a protected environment using a fertigated substrate inside plastic bags containing ten liters of solution. The experiment was completely randomized with four levels of fertilization and five replications. Two experiments were carried out in two cultivation cycles (spring 2018 and autumn 2019) by performing an analysis of variance and Scott & Knott test and estimating the parameters of nonlinear logistic model and its critical points for both variables in each treatment. The mean fruit mass per plant was 3.70 kg for the spring experiment and 3.80 kg for the autumn experiment. The mean number of fruits per plant was 10.50 and 10.70 fruits for spring and autumn, respectively. There are significant differences between the treatments KO46, KO45 and KO56 compared to KO69 for fruit mass in the autumn experiment. For the other variables and cultivation cycles, the treatments did not show statistical differences. The logistic growth model fitted the weight and number of tomato fruits according to days after transplanting the seedlings and evidenced production cycle data, highlighting the main differences between the nutrient solutions. The nutritional solutions KO46, KO45 and KO56 are recommended for growing Gaúcho tomatoes in substrate. The nutrient solution KO56 has the best performance because it has a higher K availability, meets the balance of loads and antagonism between nutrients, provides equal response of means mass and number of fruits, and has a lower N:K ratio and balance of K over Ca and Mg, thus favoring fruit production, precocity, and development.The objective this paper is determine the highest performance of fresh mass and number of fruits in tomato crops using different nutrient solution.
