Notes on the Seasonal Dynamics of Polyphylla turkmenoglui Petrovitz (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae) in the vineyards of Manisa, western Anatolia
Polyphylla turkmenoglui Petrovitz, 1965 is one of the the most important pests of vineyards in the Aegean Region of Turkey. Larvae of this species feed on the roots of vineyards and in general, the larvaes are found under the soil. For this reason, controlling this pest is very difficult. The adults mostly feed on pines foliage. In the study, the seasonal activity of the adult beetles of P. turkmenoglui was studied via two light traps between May and August in 2016 and 2017 in two vineyard locations in Alasehir and Sarigol districts, Manisa province of Turkey. At the end of the study, 1.552 specimens of P. turkmenoglui were evaluated. Total 362 and 1.190 specimens were collected from the localities in Alasehir and Sarigol, respectively. In spite of the small differences in trapping localities, the number of the specimens belonging to this species increased as of June, reached the highest level in mid-June and early July, and started to decrease after that date. A compatible Hermite-Taylor matrix-collocation technique with convergence test for second-order partial integro-differential equations containing two independent variables with functional bounds
The aim of this study is to offer a compatible numerical technique to solve second-order linear partial integro-differential equations with variable (functional) bounds, including two independent variables, under the initial and/or boundary conditions by using hybrid Hermite and Taylor series. The method converts the presented integro-differential equation to a matrix equation including the unknown Hermite coefficients. Solving this matrix equation and applying the collocation method, the approximate solution of the problem is obtained in terms of the Hermite polynomials. Also, by means of an error estimation and convergence test related to residual functions, some examples to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method are fulfilled; the obtained results are scrutinized and interpreted. All numerical computations have been performed on the computer programs
A health survey in the workers of municipality
Introduction: Internal and external air pollution that is gradually increasing due to urbanization and industrialization has a negative impact on the lung health. A health survey has been applied to evaluate the respiratory symptoms, respiration functions and smoking habbits of the workers of Izmir Konak Municipality whom have been reported to have a high rate of smoking habbit and be affected by the external air pollution due to their being working in the field by the Municipality's doctor. Materials and Methods: Questionnaire that are composed of the topics of work anamnesis, environmental anamnesis, curriculum vitae, symptoms (coughing, sputum, wheezing, dyspnea, hemoptysis) and smoking have been executed to 301 workers by face to face interview and their chest X-rays have been reviewed. Results: Dyspnea on exertion, sputum in the morning, wheezing and morning cough have been the most frequently observed complaints (respectively 37.2%, 32.2%, 27.9% and 24.9%). Sanitary workers have reported sputum in the morning more while maintanance shop workers have reported wheezing more (p values respectively 0.009, 0.008). No significance has been observed while the workers are evaluated one by one regarding to their work groups. No significant difference was identified between the addiction of smoking and nicotin addiction or pulmonary function test and chest X-rays (p> 0.05) but active smoking was much more seen in drivers (p= 0.047). Conclusion: Although working on the hazardous work branch does not institute a sharp distinction, it becomes significant to trace and lead the workers in order to obtain their lung health protection in long term. Informing and influencing the workers about the harms of smoking and the ways to quit has been the most considerable acquisition of this survey
Investigation of the effects of synthetic manganese additive and fusel oil-gasoline mixtures on performance and emissions in a spark ignition engine
Climate change necessitates reducing fossil fuels and increasing renewable energy sources. On the other hand, the COVID-19 process has increased the need for disinfectants and the use of alcohol as fuel is prohibited. fusel oil, which cannot be used as a disinfectant, is a very smelly waste alcohol mixture left after the production of ethyl alcohol from beet molasses in sugar factories. In this study, fusel oil and synthetic manganese additives in different volumetric ratios were added to gasoline and their effects on engine performance, specific fuel consumption and emissions were investigated.5%, 10%, 15% and 20% were determined as volumetric fuel mixtures.In tests based on the viscosity, freezing points and flash points of the mixtures, adding 15% fusel oil to gasoline under laboratory conditions was determined as the most suitable ideal mixture (F15B85). 4ppmF15B85, 8ppmF15B85, 12ppmF15B85, 16ppmF15B85 measurement fuels were formed by adding 4-8-12 and 16 ppm organic resin-based manganese additives into Fl5B85 test fuel, respectively. The engine performance and emission values were examined by making measurement tests in an atmospheric charged gasoline engine with the measurement fuels obtained. According to the experimental results, 12ppmF15B85 fuel gave positive results in terms of engine performance and emissions compared to other fuel mixtures. An average of 4.18% increase in torque, 5.04% increase in power, 3.12% increase in BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) and 2.48% decrease in EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) were determined in engine performances. In terms of exhaust emissions, an average of 20.69%, 10.51% reductions in CO (carbon monoxide) and HC (hydrocarbon), respectively, and an increase of 3.65% and 5.10% in CO2 (Carbon dioxide) and NOx (nitrous oxide) were detected
Speciation of [Cp*2M2O5] in Polar and Donor Solvents
The speciation of compounds [Cp*2M2O5] (M=Mo, W; Cp*=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) in different protic and aprotic polar solvents (methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide, acetone, acetonitrile), in the presence of variable amounts of water or acid/base, has been investigated by 1HNMR spectrometry and electrical conductivity. Specific hypotheses suggested by the experimental results have been further probed by DFT calculations. The solvent (S)-assisted ionic dissociation to generate [Cp*MO2(S)]+ and [Cp*MO3] takes place extensively for both metals only in water/methanol mixtures. A Comparative Study on the Growth Rate of Homokaryotic Mycelium Obtained from a Single Spore of Hericium erinaceus Isolates in Different Culture Media
The vast majority of research articles on physiology of macrofungi have used heterokaryons obtained from fruit body tissues. Actually there is evidence that heterokaryons and homokaryons exhibit differences in performances such as mycelium growth rate and properties like colony morphology etc. Ten homokaryons were obtained from a single spore germinated in 2% Malt Extract Agar medium, and their hyphal extension rates on %2 Malt Extract, Potato Dextrose, Hagem and Minimal Agar media were measured. Some significant differences were found in the mycelium growth rates of commercial Hericium erinaceus. Mycelium growth of only one homokaryon could reach to 90 mm diameter on the 27th days of incubation. Nine heterokaryotic mycelia formed at the pairing test performed on Potato Dextrose Agar

Grandiose and vulnerable narcissism on interpersonal circumplex model: reactions to criticism in romantic relationship
Vulnerable narcissism (VN) and grandiose narcissism (GN) are characterized by different expressions of self in interpersonal relationships. This study aims to examine narcissism with its grandiose and vulnerable dimensions while considering reactions to criticism, which is a challenging interpersonal experience accompanied by the Interpersonal Circumplex Model (IPC) by the person and romantic partner. The study evaluates the dimensions of narcissism and is based on the responses of the participants and their partners (behavioral, cognitive, and emotional). The Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI) was administered to evaluate narcissistic characteristics. The Criticism Story of the Story Completion Inventory in Romantic Relationships (SCIRR) was used for criticism. The circular pattern between the responses of the participants and their partners was examined using the Interpersonal Schemas Scale (ISS). The results revealed that the vulnerable group gave more complementary responses emotionally and made more complementary predictions than the grandiose group in terms of the expected reactions from a romantic partner. The results were discussed in reference to basic motivations that serve as protection for self-esteem
Tribological properties and studies in SBF of Ta2O5/TiN/TiO2 monolayer and bilayer coatings on biomedical Ti6Al4V alloy
In this study, Ta2O5, TiN, and TiO2 are coated with magnetron sputtering method as monolayer and bilayer on Ti6Al4V alloy used in biomedical applications. The deposited coatings are characterized, and their mechanical properties are determined by nanoindentation tests. As a result of the pin-on disc wear test performed in dry environment and room temperature, in vitro corrosion test was applied to the samples with high wear resistance, and the information about the tribological properties was obtained. Experimental results show that the existence of the intermediate layer has also significant effect on the corrosion resistance of the coatings. The biocompatibility of the Ta2O5/TiO2 coating was examined by keeping it in simulated body fluid (SBF) due to its noticeable wear and corrosion resistance properties, the growth of apatite, which is described as an indicator of biocompatibility, occurred on the sample surface after 7 day
