No full textThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”This paper related the site visit activities including the stakeholder consultation at Peam Krasob and Koh Kapi in Koh Kong Province during 11-12 December 2018. The activities included monitoring of short mackerel gonad growth and sea bottom characteristics in Fisheries Refugia sites. 10 participants, including leaders and officers from Department of Fisheries Conservation, officers from Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Koh Kong, and other members of community fisheries joined the consultation.UNEP/GE

The workshop identified the results of threats fish life cycle and critical habitat linkages, baseline information and data collection plans, the stakeholder analysis and engagement planning, and the planning of socio economic survey in use assessment impact of area based management in the area of fisheries refugia sites, as well as use of media for communication. The workshop was attended by 40 participants, including Fisheries Administration, Kampot Fisheries Administration Cantonment, Community Fisheries (CFi), and Local Authorities.UNEP/GE

Vietnam CDT Gap Analysis and Partnership Appraisal
Get PDF-From October 2017 to February 2018, USAID Oceans, through a team of in-country consultants and international experts, conducted a review of Vietnam’s legal frameworks, management systems, and fisheries operations to assess current catch documentation and traceability protocols and capabilities, the current certification scheme being used in Vietnam’s seafood industry, and good practices being used by Vietnam’s tuna fisheries that can be leveraged for system implementation. From these findings, this appraisal presents key findings and recommendations, based upon consideration of the existing drivers towards eCDT from socio-economic, policy, and technology perspectives, and complemented with a rapid assessment of potential private sector partners to support eCDT implementation. Finally, to support its recommendations, USAID Oceans also presents a road map and eCDTS implementation plan, both in the short and long term
