    SEAFDEC/TD organized the Regional Training Course on Enhancing Capacity for Monitoring Control and Surveillance (MCS) of Domestic and International Fishing Vessels to Combat IUU Fishing from 19 to 22 November 2024 at SEAFDEC/TD, Thailand. The training aimed to increase knowledge, skills, and experiences regarding MCS to combat IUU Fishing. In addition, SEAFDEC/TD also invited participating countries in South Asia which were supported by BOBP-IGO to participate in this Training. There were thirty (30) participants including 19 participants from each country namely Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Thailand including 5 resource persons, an observer from BOBP-IGO, and 5 SEAFDEC/TD staff attended the Training

    The On-site Training on Traceability for Fish and Fishery Products in Thailand was held from 11 to 12 December 2024 at the Department of Fisheries, Thailand. 70 participants who are Department of Fisheries (DOF) staff responsible and engaged in the traceability of fish and fishery products attended the training. Moreover, the Online Training on Traceability for Fish and Fishery Products in Supply Chain was also organized on 13 December 2024 via an online platform. 300 participants who are stakeholders such as the processing company attended the training. Both Training aims to enhance the capacity of the Department of Fisheries, Thailand staff, and stakeholders to combat IUU fishing through effective traceability management tools for fish and fishery products

    This cruise survey was conducted for the trawl monitor system (SCANMAR) sea trial and experiments on the comparative efficiency and impact of Vee type and Rectangular otter board for trawl fishing operations. To compare the catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) and efficiency between both otter boards, the recorded data included as following: - Fishes species sampling: bottom otter board trawl - Water quality: CTD - Net opening and Net spread: SCANMAR - The depth of otter board: SENSUS depth recorder - Otter board underwater observation: GoPro camera The cruise survey was scheduled from 3 to 9 April 2023. Respecting cruise order M.V. PLALUNG Cruise No. 5-1/2023, seventeen (17) operations for bottom trawl for fisheries resources and benthic marine debris and ten (10) CTD portable were conducted
