This study investigates the influence of principal leadership and teacher self-development on the professional competence of public senior high school teachers in Rembang Regency. Employing a quantitative research approach with a correlational ex post facto design and a survey method, data were collected through validated Likert-scale questionnaires from a sample of 214 teachers, selected using purposive and proportionate stratified random sampling from a total population of 460 teachers. The data were analyzed using SPSS through simple and multiple linear regression, correlation, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings indicate that both principal leadership and teacher self-development have significant and positive effects on teacher professional competence, both individually and simultaneously. Principal leadership contributes 49.5% to competence (r = 0.704), with participative leadership as the strongest dimension and collaboration-building as the weakest. Teacher self-development contributes 48.8% (r = 0.698), with knowledge improvement as the most influential factor and teacher reaction as the least. Jointly, both variables explain 54.7% of the variance in professional competence (R = 0.740). Among the competence dimensions, monitoring student learning outcomes had the strongest influence, while commitment to students and the learning process was the weakest. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering participative leadership and promoting continuous self-development to enhance teacher performance and educational quality

This research examines the scope and extent of internalization of the values of religious moderation, wasathiyah, tasamuh, i'tidal, and inclusivity, as well as their internalization and the subsequent behavioral outcomes at Pondok Pesantren Baitul Mubarok, Indonesia. This study is a qualitative case study that examines mechanisms of internalization of religious moderation values in Baitul Mubarok Islamic Boarding School, Kubu Raya. Data for the study include transcripts of in-depth interviews, field notes, curriculum documents, and policies of Islamic boarding schools. Data are from 10 key informants, consisting of the Islamic boarding school headmaster, teachers, and students, as well as documentation. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document review. Data analysis used the thematic analysis process of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings suggest that the internalization of the values is the result of the functioning of an internalized complete system, which utilizes five primary mechanisms: key transformative leadership role modeling, daily routines’ institutionalized habituation, critical dialogues within the halaqah system, curriculum integration, and a curated 24/7 social environment. Such mechanisms bring about fundamental changes in the students’ behavior, as seen in their active interfaith exchanges, counteraction to radical normative discourses, and social peace-building activities. The findings of the research emphasize that Islamic institutions such as the pesantren have the potential to bring about social change in society, as long as these institutions are approached with a holistic system and value-oriented character education for the students. This research articulates the development of a model approach to education for sustaining peace and preventing extremism, which is congruent with global frameworks and has practical relevance to the polity and institutions of Islamic education

Strategies and Models of Character Education Based on Religious Values in the Era of Globalized Education

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze strategies and develop an effective model of character education based on religious values in response to the challenges posed by globalization. While globalization positively impacts technological advancement and information accessibility, it also triggers moral crises, value disorientation, and character degradation, particularly among the younger generation. This research adopts a qualitative approach using the literature review method, examining various sources related to character education and religious values within global education. The findings indicate that effective character education strategies must integrate spiritual, moral, and cognitive dimensions into formal and non-formal curricula through contextual, participatory, and sustainable approaches. The developed character education model emphasizes inclusivity, contextual relevance, and the involvement of all stakeholders, including teachers, school principals, families, and communities. Religious values such as honesty, responsibility, and tolerance are the foundation for shaping students' character. This study recommends policy synergy between central and local governments, continuous teacher training, and the utilization of digital technology as a medium for teaching religious values. Through this approach, character education can foster a generation with integrity that is resilient against the negative influences of globalization

The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Canva-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in improving students’ learning outcomes and motivation in history education. This quasi-experimental study involved 150 tenth-grade students, with samples selected using cluster random sampling due to class homogeneity. Class X1, consisting of 30 students, was assigned as the experimental group using Canva-based PjBL, while Class X2, with 31 students, was designated as the control group using conventional learning methods. Research instruments included pre-tests and post-tests to assess learning outcomes and questionnaires, and observation sheets to measure motivation. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, descriptive statistics, and N-Gain tests. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in both learning outcomes and motivation. The experimental class achieved a higher post-test mean score (M = 17.50, SD = 1.43) than the control class (M = 14.52, SD = 2.22), with p < 0.001. The N-Gain value for learning outcomes was 0.7604, and learning motivation was 0.8157, indicating high improvement. These results demonstrate that Canva-based PjBL effectively enhances students’ academic achievement and learning motivation in history classrooms

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Picture Description strategy in improving speaking skills among seventh-grade students at Al-Durrah Integrated Private Islamic Secondary School in Mariela. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with the Arabic language teacher and five students, questionnaires administered to all students, and documents such as pictures of learning activities, lesson plans, and students’ work. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and verification in a narrative form. The results showed that applying the “Picture Description” strategy increased student engagement, self-confidence, and ability to construct meaningful and contextual oral sentences. Visual media also helped students understand vocabulary and express their ideas more confidently. Moreover, this strategy effectively overcame the traditional Arabic instruction's negative and monotonous nature. The significance of this study lies in its provision of the first empirical evidence at the middle school level regarding the effectiveness of the “Picture Description” strategy. It also offers practical contributions to Arabic language teachers in designing more communicative and contextualized instruction that aligns with the needs of 21st-century learners

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Circle Discussion strategy in acquiring historical concepts among seventh-grade basic students. The researchers adopted an experimental approach with a two-group design (experimental and control groups). The study sample consisted of 57 seventh-grade female students from Soz Elementary School, distributed into two groups: the experimental group (32 students) who studied using the Circle Discussion strategy, and the control group (25 students) who studied using the conventional method. A historical concepts acquisition test consisting of 36 items was developed, distributed across three levels (definition, discrimination, and application). The results showed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean scores of the two groups in favor of the experimental group, where the experimental group's mean was (28.06) compared to (24.12) for the control group. The effect size calculation using eta squared showed a value of (0.206), indicating a very large effect of the strategy. The study concluded that the Circle Discussion strategy is effective in improving the acquisition of historical concepts among students

This study discusses the conflict of interest in the Interim Replacement (PAW) process of the Head of Labangka Village, Labangka District, Sumbawa Regency in 2023. The PAW process has been implemented in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages, Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 112 of 2014, and Sumbawa Regent Regulation Number 49 of 2022. However, its implementation experienced polemics after the elected candidate, Jumaidi, had his appointment revoked based on a court decision because he did not meet the requirements. Nevertheless, the PAW process as a whole remains valid and has not been canceled. The problem arose when the Regent of Sumbawa did not follow up on the election results and instead appointed an acting village head through Decree Number 214 of 2025, which was deemed to be contrary to laws and court decisions. The appointment was also considered to violate the Village Law and Constitutional Court Decision Number 107/PUU-XXII/2024. This study recommends that the Regent immediately inaugurate the candidate with the second-highest number of votes or hold a revote without Jumaidi's involvement. This is crucial to ensure legal certainty, prevent vacancies, and uphold the principles of democracy and the rule of law in village governance
