Development of a Multimedia Program to Promote Environmental Education of Zoology
The purpose of this study was to improve the approach of environmental education in a secondary school in Pinar del Río, Cuba. This material was created using a) literature on the theoretical?empirical background of environmental education focused on Zoology and b) a study of student perceptions of the environment using surveys and interviews. Deficiencies noted in the literature and student knowledge guided the design of a multimedia program to teach Zoology to high school students with a focus on an integrated environmental approach. The proposed program includes specialized videos and texts about both global and local fauna. The videos and activities were designed to familiarize students with the fauna and the measures that they should take to protect and help preserve the life of animals and their environments

There are two facilities offered by FinTech for MSMEs in Indonesia, i.e ease in obtaining loans and ease of conducting business transactions. It adds to the opportunity for business people who use FinTech in the process of financial transactions with consumers because it can increase people\u27s purchasing power for MSMEs products.
Implications: In payment transactions, FinTech offers convenience, innovation, security, cost-effective, and speeder transections for both sellers and buyers related to MSMEs
Effect of Strategic Intent on Performance of Small and Medium Scale Printing Press Firms in Abuja, Nigeria
Purpose: This study investigates the effect of strategic intent on the performance of small and medium scale printing firms in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria.
Methods: The population of the study included all the small and medium scale printing press in Abuja which is 226 and the sample size of 68. A multiple regression model was formulated to estimate the effect of strategic intent (vision, mission, and objectives) on performance (growth) of small and medium scale printing press firms in Abuja. The study also adopted a control variable such as finance to have a better coefficient of determination.
Findings: The study found that strategic intent had a positive and significant effect on the growth of small and medium scale printing press firms in Nigeria. The study also found that finance (collateral, access to finance, and insufficient finance) had a negative and insignificant effect on the growth of small and medium scale printing press firms in Nigeria.
Implication: Small and medium printing press firms in Abuja, FCT should communicate their vision, mission statement, and objectives to their employees. The microfinance banks in collaboration with the central bank of Nigeria should minimize collateral conditions in obtaining microcredit from microfinance banks.
A A Multi-Objective Mathematical Model for Vehicle Routing Problem Considering the Time Window and Economic and Environmental Objectives Using the Metaheuristic Algorithm Based on Pareto Archive
Purpose: The purpose of this study is the well-known Heterogeneous Fleet Vehicle Routing Problem (HVRP) is one of the developed problems of vehicle routing, which involves optimizing a set of routes for a fleet of vehicles with different costs and capacities.
Methods: HVRP is usually modeled as a single objective that aims to minimize overall transportation costs (total fixed costs and costs commensurate with total distance).
Results: These vehicles are located in the central depot and serve customers’ demands.
Implications: In this case, the number of vehicles available (of any type) may be limited
Adoption of the National Health Insurance Scheme and Its Influence on Organizational Commitment: An Empirical Investigation
Purpose: The study examines the influence of the adoption of the National Health Insurance Scheme on organizational commitment with particular reference to Kwara State, Nigeria.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was adopted for the study. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select 350 civil servants from the Ministry of Health in Ilorin. Data were analyzed with the assistance of mean and ordinary least square method of estimation.
Result: The results reveal that the adoption of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has a significant influence on organizational commitment. This indicates that the “modus operandi” of the scheme is a strong predictor of organizational commitment in Nigeria.
Implication: Deduction to be made from this result is that the “modus operandi” of the scheme is a strong predictor of organizational commitment. This indicates that the sustainability of the NHIS is a guarantee in the country. This will pave the way to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of ‘universal health coverage, such as financial risk protection, access to quality essential health care services, and access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all by 2030
Appraising Financial Development Indicators and Capital Market Performance : Empirical Evidence from Nigeria
This study appraised empirically Financial Development Indicators (FDIs) and Capital Market Performance in Nigeria. While Financial Depth, Financial Access and Financial Efficiency served as proxy for FDIs and independent variable; Market Capitalization was used as proxy for Capital Market Performance and the dependent variable. Primary data were sourced employing Survey design and analyzed using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, (PPMCC) technique denoted by ‘r’. The robustness of findings which showed that hypotheses one (H01) and two (H02) exhibited high coefficients and passed the test of significance led us to conclude that the variables: Financial Depth and Financial Access are relevant to policies formulated to affect Market Capitalization in Nigeria. However, hypothesis three (H03) portends rather low results suggesting that though a positive relationship exists between Financial Efficiency and Market Capitalization, the strength of relationship is moderate and cannot be considered too relevant to policies formulated to affect Market Capitalization in Nigeria. We therefore recommend that financial sector authorities and stakeholders should ensure that innovative facilities and policies that enable access to finance; that give ability to financial markets to imbibe large trade volumes be put instituted to facilitate proper development of the sector and that serious attention should be given to on-the-job-training, retraining and financial courses for employees to acquire industry knowledge of the job in order to enhance their performance
International Trade Costs and Trade Flows: Evidence from the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ)
Purpose: The study examines the effect of international trade costs on trade flows in the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ), a sub-regional economic bloc within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Method: Six member countries of the WAMZ, based on data availability, are examined using panel data estimation technique and the Fully Modified Ordinary Least squares (FMOLS), which is employed to test for the robustness of results, for the sample period of 2006-2018.
Results: The study finds a negative and significant effect of international trade costs on trade flows in the WAMZ sub-region. Time to trade is also found to be negatively and significantly related to trade. Exchange rate, financial development (measured by commercial banks\u27 credit to the private sector), and real GDP growth rate (a measure of growth in annual national income/economic size) have a positive and significant impact on trade in the sub-region. The study further finds evidence that the ease of doing business is positively related to trade in the sub-region, but the impact is weak.
Implications: In the light of the empirical findings, the study recommends that policy measures and strategies to reduce international trade costs and time to trade through simplified and harmonized trade procedures be implemented in the sub-region. Policies to encourage national income growth, rapid development of the financial sector and improved ease of doing business should also be implemented in the zone. These should be supported with sound and stable macroeconomic exchange rate management policies, in order to enhance trade and integration in the sub-region
Does Fiscal Policy Tools have the Potential to Stimulate Performance of Manufacturing Sector in Nigeria?
Purpose: There is no denying the fact that the Nigerian manufacturing sector is not performing up to the expectation. The poor performance of the manufacturing sector is attributed largely to the poor state of basic infrastructures, especially power supply, and good road networks. To this end, this study examined the potential of fiscal policy to stimulate manufacturing sector performance in Nigeria.
Methods: The model estimation employed the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation technique, while the effect of estimation was carried out using the Granger causality test based on the data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the period of 1986 to 2019.
Results: The result of the analysis revealed that recurrent expenditure has no significant effect on manufacturing sector performance. However, capital expenditure, fiscal deficit, and the company’s income tax significantly affect manufacturing sector performance.
Implications: The Federal, State, and Local governments should stop wasteful expenditure on unnecessary entertainment on meetings, seminars, workshops, foreign trips, etc. to increase spending on basic industrial infrastructures, most importantly on the power supply and road network to stimulate the manufacturing sector performance
The Role of University-Industry linkage in Implementing Competency-based Curricula in Public Higher Learning Institutions in Ethiopia: Literature of Review
Purpose: Policymakers are seeking to encourage Universities to become more entrepreneurial and engage more actively with the productive sector. The main objective of this article is to review the studies previously conducted with regard to the implementation of a competency-based curriculum in the higher institutions-industry linkage of Ethiopia.Method: The review is based on the qualitative systematic review approach. A total of twenty studies on the Ethiopian curriculum were reviewed which includes 14 journal articles, 3 government or non-government reports, and 2 policy issues on University-Industry linkage and 1 working paper. The studies were accessed online through the Google search engine. Result: The findings indicate that so far, the contribution of academic research in enhancing the country’s economic development is minimal. Also no attention is given to the issues of responsibilities regarding the non-implementation of the competency-based curriculum in higher education institutions of Ethiopia. Implications: The government has to do more in connecting the role of stakeholders such as Universities and business sectors, create an interlink between Universities, TVET, National Laboratories, the Financial Support Systems, Science & Technology Parks/Incubators, Businesses Enterprises and the National Quality System (NQS). Also the government or the concerned bodies need to develop a system of monitoring for the better implementation of the competency-based curriculum in higher education of Ethiopia
